The Main plant concern in your region will be occasional frost damage in winter. So be careful using some ixoras, hibiscus, bananas, orchids, crotons and other tropicals; they can get frost damage from a strong cold front. I would focus on planting tropicals on your South and or East side of your home. Your house will help block cold front winds, which blow in from the northwest. Also you can do a drive about town and see what your neighbors have planted, that will give you a good indication of plants that are doing well in you specific area. Hope this helps.M
