For the 4.0 batch of version trailers I highly suggest watching the Genshin Overture Teaser: The Final Feast before watching 4.0. It’s a tease of the theme of the new region, Fontaine.
Genshin's desert is the best desert I've ever played in my life
it's full of content it has hours of lore, exploration, secret locations, questlines with incredible stories
All the cutscenes you see in version trailers happen in-game. However, some of them happened in limited-time events which you can't play now, unfortunately.
The Lantern Rite character selection thing is just a part of the event each year. Play through the various minigames to unlock it, and then pick one of the characters and they are instantly added to your collection. No primos or money required, and not even hard to do.
Coincidentally, the version update is dropping next week, so a nice time to catch up on the trailers.
Also worth noting that the 4* characters' outfits are free during the patch they release as long as you do the event.
You are very correct about the English localization for that cutscene, although I think it didn't turn out as badly as its memetically bad status would suggest. Hu Tao rapping does sound exactly how Hu Tao, speaking English, would choose to rap. However, this is entirely unsupported by the backing music due to the VA not having access to said music when she recorded. Hu Tao having no concern whatsoever for this would also be in character, and accepting that some of the price of sponsorship for an international musical tour that people have been trying to get running for years at this point is Hu Tao rapping during the opening act is also entirely reasonable. The Chinese and Japanese versions did turn out better, though.
And no; the Lantern Rite usually allows you to simply pick a Liyue 4-star character to get. No gacha. And they've consistently been adding Liyue 4-stars each year to go along with the event stories, so this is generally meaningful. (In the most recent one, I happened to get the new 4-star Gaming - that name is not pronounced how it reads - and had the available roster so ended up getting Yanfei's final constellation star instead. I use her myself, and still would even if I'd ever succeeded in pulling Klee.)
The TCG bit with all omni dice was a special event where they had a mode that had all omni dice (if I'm remembering right)
3.0 is my favorite version trailer. The music that plays and "The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings" flashing across the screen is hype. Really did a great job of introducing Sumeru.
About the giant boar: you can find it in Dragonspine. And unless you got a really strong team, it will likely be the hardest boss you will ever face up to that point. 😆
As everybody else mentioned, a free Liyue 4* is offered as an event reward every Lantern Rite. However there are also events every few patches that offer a free 4* character as well. One of them happens to be in the upcoming patch starting next week and will feature Gorou as the event reward.
If you're interested in the alternate costumes, you can preview them in the shop. They do cost money however.
the video that was being recommended all the time on the left is a literal 7-minute anime episode telling the story of the new character Arlecchino
her teaser was also released and the demo will be released in 6 days
I recommend watching these videos together with the 4.x video, if not before

@@Melotaku yes the demo will come 1 day before he posts the video so if he recorded this part at the last minute it would be possible to put everything together
in lantern rite events, they always let you invite any 4 star character from liyue of your choice for free
It's my personal annoyance that the game pops up the rebuilding of the jade chamber as soon as you finish the liyue archon quest. Those of us who played at the time had to wait until part way through Inazuma before it was available. This meant many a day staring up at the empty sky above the harbor. And imho made the rebuild more meaningful

I'm too a veteran in genshin, 1.3 was three years and more than a month ago
eh a tcg fan. But be careful because there's a surprising amount of bots that hate on it for existing, but that's just modern life really. No not actual bots, I mean people that try to be popular by going out of their way to hate on something that doesn't appear in any main story or most world quest except the one introduction quest. Oh and that event, but it kinda sucked even for me because you don't actually see their fights.... we get sent on side quest to find card thieves that lead to gitcg origin.

Yeah those people are stupid, if you don't play this mode why hate it or people who like it this goes for Teapot and TCG both decent game modes

Also, yeah, you should check out Star Rail character trailers and shorts if you can, the music is always on point, as you'd imagine
Honestly, I think your decision to react to it all in parts is probably wise. It's a lot of content to absorb at one go.
The Sumeru region is chaos, emotions run deep. But Fontaine, though... you will see... xD

Bcs boy oh boy are you in for a ride in 4.0 / 4.1 / and 4.2is by far the best genshin trailer out their
4.4 is mid 4.5 also mid
But the most recent trailer is 4.6 and that is again a really good dark concept one

I think you're confusing 4.3 with 4.2. 4.2 is the Fontaine AQ finale and release of Furina, 4.3 is the Roses and Muskets event and release of Navia.
And hey don't hate on 4.4, that version was quite good too! Chenyu Vale is awesome!
