- All leaders in the ATP Ranking at the end of the calendar year from 1973 to 2022. Recall the best tennis players of all time who were ranked No. 1 in the ATP Tour Ranking at the end of the year. How many times have Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras and Jimmy Connors been at the top?
The ATP Ranking shows the best men's tennis players over the last 12 months. Players earn points by playing in ATP Tour tournaments and Grand Slam tournaments. They earn more and more points for each win and advance to the next round, up to 1,000 points for winning the ATP1000 Series tournament and 2,000 points for winning one of the four Grand Slam tournaments. In 2023, Novak Djokovic became the world number one after winning the Australian Open. The Serb is slightly ahead of 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in second place. Tennis legends such as Jimmy Connors, Björn Borg, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras are among the players to have been ranked number one at the end of the year in the ATP Ranking. In the 21st century, the year-end leaders in ATP Tour have been Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and, of course, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. the way the season is currently going, i'm gonna say either alcaraz, medvedev, or djokovic. djokovic had a good start to the year, but he's dipping in the clay season right now so it's hard to tell with him. however, i expect that he will capitalize on the grass season. medvedev is also struggling on clay but that always happens so i'm not worried about him, and alcaraz's biggest enemy this season will probably be injuries

2025 is too far ahead for making plans and 505 weeks Nr.1 is totally unrealistic when struggling against father time.
Nole should focus on 3 things in 2024:
1. Monte Carlo msters
2. Roland Garros
3. Olympic gold
Everything else is just gravy.
This year, Nitto Finals and Davis Cup (and whatever he can squeeze out of Paris Masters) should be enough - both for achievements and for securing YE#1.

Could be Alcaraz again. He's playing unbelievable at the moment. It's early days still, but if he stays injury free I could imagine seeing him winning quite a few tournaments.
