Nora Kifarkis yeah it's sad that she felt like she had to "disclaim" the artist title, maybe because of the fear of being projected as believing-shes-something-shes-not kind of thing. I wish I could encourage her to be bold and claim that title, because an artist is anyone who creates something from their heart. But it's not her fault, it's societys fault for making people think they cant claim their own title because of the norm of humility.

You really need to make this into a book & publish it. Like one that I can buy at Barnes and Noble, or anywhere, really. I'd buy it in a heartbeat, and so would others because it is truly a piece of art thats filled with inspiration and life advice that would help so many people. PLEASE!!! I would stare at the drawings and read the quotes every day...

no way! thats exactly what I'm majoring in next year! I'm really similar to Katy, as we're both really creative, so I was asking bc whatever she's doing would probably suit me as well! I guess I was right, since thats what I've already chosen lol!
The beauty of this made me want to cry. Immediately afterwards, I sat at my desk with my burgundy leather bound journal and expressed my self, fully. I doodled and sketched and painted the world inside my mind. I copied down the words of my poetry and matched them with these expressions. I emptied my world of stress and striving and spent a solid two hours feeding my soul. So thank you. Thank you.

I never comment, but this is completely gorgeous and such a fantastic idea. I literally just went to a stationary store and bought a notebook like this for my trip to the USA in a few months, completely inspired by this video. I've known you are a beautiful writer from your posts in various social media, but I never knew you were also a beautiful drawer. You'll look back on this precious journal very fondly when you're older no doubt, Katy. :) I also really resonated with what you said about other people's success affecting you - making it easier to feel like a failure. But I've learnt that life isn't a race; instead of constantly comparing myself to others, I'm trying to enjoy this place and time I'm in right now. Any person who can make me laugh and cry simultaneously in a 13min span I know plays a genuine role in my life. Katy, you never fail to do both every video and even though I've obviously never had the pleasure of meeting you, you have become a necessary part of my life.
It's these creative, beautiful, and intellectually curious videos that can be called pieces of art that CZcams needs more of!

Katy, this video made me realise that you have an air about you that's similar to that of a wondrous child. You never loose your curiosity and your inspiration and drive inspires so many who watch you, including me. You make me want to find that wonder and curiosity again and experience it in my everyday, and to notice it when it arises. Never, ever lose that part of you Katy. Its beautiful, you're beautiful.
Katy I just want to say how blessed you are to be able to travel so often while being so young, I hope God continues to bless you abundantly ❤️ unfortunately I cannot study abroad because I work full time and I live alone and my office will not approve my time off. this is so inspiring, katy. not only is the whole thing beautiful but it's the most amazing way to remember important parts of your life - through sketches you made and little texts you wrote while experiencing a place and through quotes that impacted you at a certain moment. i'm in awe, i'm going to buy a journal (hopefully that same one from tiger, i have a few close by ;)) and start something like this!
I love how Katy says she is not an artist, but these sketches are some of the best i have ever seen. Gosh I love you so much Katy, you inspire me so much. I could see the duomo from my window as well when I studied abroad. Mainly just the gold ball on top though. Florence was everything- would kill to go back and it's been 2 years. My journal was not nearly this beautiful, but it was filled with taped-in mementos and it is a priceless item that I will hold onto for ever. Love the positano paper- I loved positano.

I love your journal. When I studied art my tutors were always telling me to let go and not be so precious, if I didn't like the way a page or drawing turned out I would rip it out or start a whole new book. You have to embrace the messy especially with travel journals and just focus on documenting everything you experience and I feel like you did. Also, watch the film they did of A Room With a View, it's amazing.

YES!! I'm so happy you're posting this! 😍 your journal is so inspiring!
some ideas (what I want to do soon):
- step tracker (set one up at the beginning of the book, keep track)
- print out or handdraw a map where you visualise your journey (if you
travel around in a country)
- citymap with all the cool places, favourite pubs/shops/sights
- little weather logs
- Write down one special sentence a day
- leave space to put in pictures later, as you (or at least I) cannot
print them out while you're travelling
- draw some sceneries/houses/sights
- stick in tickets, maps, postcards, programs of plays/films you've seen
- press-dry leaves and flowers (if not endangered) and glue them in
- write down songs you sang/listened to
- make little pockets/envelopes out of paper in advance and stick them
in while travelling when you want to keep something but you don't want
it to be glued/taped down
- put some washi tape on a little cardboard piece so you can decorate
- doodle some food/ special things of the country into your book
any other suggestions?

when u started posting about your journal on snapchat it sparked something in me to do the same despite not travelling but mainly for more of a self-understanding journal and i'm 0.00001% the artist you are and i just started writing quotes i felt were right and ripping up a bunch of old book pages and really making it my own so to see it in this video is almost full circle and i just wanted to say thanks katy!!
