    This tutorial will teach you how to work the Icelandic Bind off. Icelandic Bind Off is my go-to bind-off for garter stitch. I also compare it to two other bind-offs, a traditional bind-off, and a one-move bind-off.

    Love learning the Icelandic bindoff. I had to use a crochet needle because my stitching was tight...works great 👍 thank you!

    Thank you for comparing the different bindoffs. I,too,had confused the one move bindoff with the Icelandic. I like the look of Icelandic bindoff much better.

    I've been knitting for many years, and only ever used the traditional bind off, but this looks great - probably less fiddly than traditional and more elastic. Brilliant. Social media is just brilliant for this kind of thing!

    Great bind-off option. Thanks so much for the comparisons, too. I will certainly use this on garter stitch. Such a nicely finished edge it creates. Brand new to me.

    I just saved this video. I finished a sweater a few weeks ago and used the Icelandic bind-off, I thought. I used your third bind-off thinking it was the Icelandic. Thanks!

      No, not necessarily, you can certainly use it on other fabric structures, it just matches garter stitch really well!

    Ok, so is there a matching cast-on so both ends can be even tention. The double row of stitches layering on each other would drive my ADD bonkers.

    This is my go to bind off! I also go right to the bindoff, no first stitch. Also the last stitch I bind off is actually the first bindoff stitch I did. Otherwise it leaves a little gap that I don’t like. Then just pull the tail down thru before burying the tail. Btw, that yarn is delicious! Any deets on that?

      Could you please elaborate on how you handle the last stitch? (Do you mean that you just bind that one off regularly and then pull the tail through?)

  • @Shaki611

    Excelent to see differences between. I've seen another type of bind off , it is knit 2 together and then put st again on left needle and knit 2 together, I don't know how it's called.

    Great tutorial, but what happens with the last stitch? This is my first attempt at knitting after 50 years of crochet. A nasty start to it, but several days later I only have a few mistakes or dropped stitches. I got to the last stitch of the Icelandic bind-off, but don't know what to do with the last stitch. Do I pull it all the way through like with crochet, or is there something else that I need to do to it?

    • @LauraNelkin
      @LauraNelkin  Před 11 měsíci

      Yes, just pull it all the way through!
