  • There is something magical about mountains as they turn white for the last time in 2020. We end the year 2020 on a high with an exclusive road trip to the last Indian Village in North with Renault Triber. Compact 7-seater MUV was designed keeping the practicality, space and budget in mind. But, is it suitable for all types of terrain? We take it out on the most difficult journey to the high altitudes of Chitkul, post this point we are not allowed to travel. So, can the Tiber make it with ease, or we have to turn back half way?

    The vehicle is registered in Tamilnadu. How was your driving experience all the way to North. It would be good to hear your experience as you might've travelled in highways, terrains and rough roads. I'm bit hesitant whether the engine struggles for power with 6/7 people on board in terrains and over 90 kmph in highways. Your response would be great for me to narrow down my list in buying one.

    • @Speedhounds
      @Speedhounds  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Shabil. The car is a media unit from Renualt and they manufacture it in Tamil Nadu, reason why it is registered with a TN plate. We had multiple terrains to test it over. It is a good cruiser on the Highway, we took the KMP expressway which has a limit of 120kmph and we were easily doing 110-120 without any struggle. Just bill speeds gradually and it has no problem, yet it needs better insulation for sure. But the engine is nicely tuned. It wants to upshift earlier and that’s the reason why it gives good mileage. In the city, I am on the 5th gear on speeds as low as 40kmph. On the hilly terrain as well we faced almost no problems. Chitkul being at a height of 11,000 ft was easily done. Triber really requires a turbo Petrol engine, but the 1.0l engine can pull 7 persons, but don’t expect outright performance, it’s for sedate driving.

    • @Speedhounds
      @Speedhounds  Před 3 lety +1

      Dear Shabil. Thanks for writing to us. Well i was carrying a lot of luggage and and two passengers. From Shimla to Chitkul. It can easily carry 7 people, but, it is more for a sedate driver and not for people who would pull it all the way to the redline. You need to build speeds rather than push it to its limits. It can easily carry 7 people. Even though it is the same engine from Kwid, but it is tuned differently. It is refined and is eager to upshift. It easily goes uphill. But be gentle and build speeds gradually, you won’t face any problem.

      Hi Abhishek. After almost 3000 km. I would say, you should go ahead with it. It’s a very good and comfortable sub 4m 7 seater yet spacious one. If you are a sedate driver, it performs well, it has good fuel efficiency and for space it’s is wide and gets loads of leg space.
      If you are a fast driver, who likes to drive like it’s his last day, it’s not for you. But, if you are a careful sedate driver, you should definitely go ahead. Overall the fuel efficiency was impressive around 17+. Suspension is best in class. Barring some features, it gets all the necessary features.
      Drive it for yourself once, if you feel you want more power, wait for the 1.0 turbo petrol.
