  • Labrador Highway was a bucketlist road trip of ours and we did it with our two kids ages 5 and 7. It's a lot of wilderness but the communites are cute and can easily find fun things to do.

    I would suspect that several MM 420 signs were replaced before they decided to stop running a free souvenir shop.

    It’s paved now sweet! Hope you didn’t miss LAnse Amour. You made me want to dig out my mesh suit and go for a visit. I kinda liked the remote Eagle Plateau region… it’s untainted tundra and glacial rock gardens. Not nothing.
    500 km stretched between gas pumps was exciting.
    Congrats you’re in a small group of Canadians brave enough to answer the call of the Labrador wilds.

    M&M Travel, nice family travel video. I would suspect that the "420" signs have been stolen in the past because of the marijuana culture and its relationship to 420 / 4:20 0r 4/20 that representing the official marijuana holiday being April 20th. 420 signs have been replaced by 419 instead. I am speculating here but….. the moment you mention no 420 signs but rather 419 that's what came to mind. And no I am not a pot head… Thanks for sharing your adventures

    I lived in Goose Bay for a while in 2016/2017. That highway use to be mainly gravel, its alot better now

  • @shelleyhodgecreativestudio2058

    This is awesome! We’ve done that drive many times and you hit all the points.
    No mile marker 420 because it kept getting stolen unfortunately lol!

    We just finished our first trip to Newfoundland and are now excited to do an RV trip through Labrador! We are full-time RVers, but we did not take our RV to Newfoundland this time. Watching you take your RV through Labrador has been very encouraging, we will definitely do it!
    We wish we had known about RVing when our kids were the age of your kids (20 years ago!) We homeschooled them and would have loved to RV with them. Glad to see your kids are enjoying it!

      Newfoundland is very RV friendly! Lots of options. Happy to hear you enjoyed the island! We’re currently out west with the motor home and we’ve had some challenges finding spots on this trip. It’s beautiful but it’s made us miss Newfoundland! Have a great summer ❤️

    I grew up in Churchill Falls! Too bad you didn't get there until night time. There's a great trail in to see the Falls and you can tour the underground hydro electric power plant! It used to be the biggest in the world, but I'm sure we're knocked down a few pegs by now, it's a really amazing thing to see though, about 1000 feet underground, and surrounded by 2 billion year old rocks!

    Seems very expensive just to do the highway…I’d rather stay on Newfoundland highway and go to the small harbours and towns along the way….a motorcycle tour might be more feasible…also spending $$$$ on a week or two at Terra Nova Nat’l Park!

    There's no Mile Point 420 on the Labrador Highway because the dopers kept stealing them.

    I love how you stopped off and showed adventures you can do in Labrador ❤ The highway is apparently fully paved now across the entire Labrador highway now.....wonder why Quebec hasn't done much to improve the situation on their roads? Don't the local people make it a priority? Seems odd. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience...btw, what month was this taken? Winters must be hard up there OMG 😊

    love the vid planning this trip. did you ever feel the need to filter your drinking water ? im thinking of getting a drone was it hard to get qualified ? ty

    • @MandMtravel83
      @MandMtravel83  Před 11 měsíci

      Water: we only filled up at places that had potable water and had a few jugs with us so we didn’t filter water. As for the drone I do not have qualifications because my drone is under the weight that requires a license.
      Hope that helps

    Normally, your videos make us want to hitch up and cross the border into Canada. We can handle the 2.60/liter gas and the black fly swarms. But no way on the Labradors not recognizing mile marker 420…

    Very cute video! Very sweet to see the girls playing and keeping themselves busy and really Liking each other's company.
    We are actually driving up to Labrador from Washington DC. What month were you there??? We plan to just visit the Red Bay area in late September 2023, and then driving back to Blanc Sablon to catch the car ferry down to Rimouski (3 days and 8 hours) , We would then enter the US at Madawaska Maine, and a bit later picking up I 95 back home to DC. Labrador Looks like a beautiful area and hoping to see the Northern Lights!
    Do you know whether they have boats to take you out to whale watch at Red Bay??

    • @MandMtravel83
      @MandMtravel83  Před rokem

      We were there end of July 2022. That sounds like it’ll be a great trip for you! We just did the 95 (I think) on our way out west this summer. We did the northern states on our way to the Sunshine Coast. Beautiful drive!
      I’m not sure about the whale watching in Red Bay but I’m sure they’d have it somewhere nearby. If you want to see whales on your way if you end up going near Tadoussac they have a lot of whale tours. Or they might even have some at blanc Avalon or Rimouski. We saw belugas and minke whales while near Tadoussac.

      Thanks for the kind words. The trans Labrador hwy is all freshly paved. The Quebec stretch from Baie Comeau to Lab city had two gravel sections when we did it. One was around 80 km and the other was maybe 30km. They were working on it so not sure when they will pave that section also. Enjoy your trip.

    We did this trip in 2019. Lovely drive and likely better now. That was July. Take your full upper body bug jacket. Absolutely horrendous bugs! If you don't like someone, tell them that it's a beautiful relaxing trip. F...............K!

      @MandMtravel83  Před 7 měsíci

      You’re right! We’ve never experienced bugs before like we did while there. And we live in the forest in Ontario where the bugs are quite bad. But NOTHING like it was there. 😯

    Question- how bad is the gravel rd in quebec? Any rv damage?

    • @MandMtravel83
      @MandMtravel83  Před 6 měsíci

      No damage. Just long stretches. Typical gravel road but they actually take very good care of it since it gets used so much by big trucks and dam workers. It gets grated frequantly.

    A lot of black flies in mosquitoes means very clean water.
    There's also a lot less humans to bite so you are on the menu.

  • @christinafidance340
    @christinafidance340 Před 9 měsíci

    They skipped 420 most likely because the sign kept getting stolen. I cannot tell you how many times the 420 signs have been missing in hotels that I’ve stayed at! It’s a thing almost everywhere, but kinda crazy somewhere as sparsely populated as Laborador! 😂
