      I just had to get the right ODB tool to clear the codes. I had a bluetooth ODB connector that I use on my Triumphs... and I connected to that with the $5 Torque Pro app on my phone, and that cleared them all out and I was good to go.

    Damn! Just heard you refer to your 1198! I have an 09 1198s in mint condition. with termi cans. Fueling is spot on, goes like hellI want to sell it & buy MT 10
    Should I?

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 8 měsíci

      The 1198 was a beast. Raw and insane. But the MT-10 with an ECU flash makes damned near as much power, but is way more comfortable, and the modern electronics make it amazing to ride. Quickshifter, cruise control, wheelie control, etc...
      The MT-10 is one of the best all around bikes on the market today.

    Generally speaking with the modifications you did, you should be putting down slightly north of 150 hp at the wheel. I have the exact same bike by the way. It is totally bonkers and insane and absolutely the most fun motorcycle I’ve ever owned out of 30+ motorcycles.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yeah, based on what I have seen, a decat and an ECU flash should put it at the 150-153hp range, depending on the bike, the dyno and the temperature that day.

      Hi Dave, just wondering if Chris told you about that before you mailed the ecu? I just recently heard some not so good things about Moore Mafia. I guess one thing is if at some point you're not happy with it. You can always get it reflashed. Personally, I would never trust a postal flash. Dyno is the way to go.

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před 6 měsíci

      @@Charlie-fc1mh I took out the ECU and drove it up to him... he flashed it and handed it back to me. He had someone in there on the dyno the week before with the same setup, so he made the tune on the dyno, and then took that tune and put it in my ECU.
      I have never heard anything negative about him. I have had him tune like 5 or 6 of my bikes now, as well as several of my friends' bikes... No issues. My codes eventually cleared, and it's just how some bikes are now... When you yank the ECU out and flash it, you have to power it up to flash it... When the ECU turns on and doesn't see any of the sensors, it freaks out and throws a ton of codes...

      @@SquireSCA I'm planning on getting the 2024 model mt10 sp or maybe the tracer 9gt plus. If I do anything, I'll probably wait until the one year warranty is up. Meant to mention earlier. There's a place right there near you. It's in Marietta, "Caylor Made". They have a dyno and I've been told they have excellent service. Nothing wrong with wanting more power and better sound. If I wind up getting the Mt 10, I'll probably just put an end can on it and call it a day. If it's the tracer, then I would just ride it. Sure do enjoy watching your rides. I lived in Atlanta back in the late 80s until mid 90.I used to drive up to the lake on weekends to fish and camp out. I kind of miss the Buford area. 👍

    Yeah, reading the guys comment below the fuel gauge is very interesting on this bike. It basically stays on full forever and then drops right down to half a tank and then from there it drops right down to a quarter tank and starts blinking at you. But at least it has a fuel gauge which the R1 does not And I find that kind of strange seeing as how it’s the same electronics package, same frame, same engine, etc.. But yes, these motorcycles absolutely have a little bit of a drinking problem. If I’m riding my motorcycle every day, I have to fill it up every other day and that’s just casually riding on surface streets not even on the highway. Although I’m typically in a pretty low gear, and I do like to have fun with it so she will drink. Interestingly enough the 2023 model which is in this video and the same one I have, it’s supposed to get 20% better fuel economy so I would’ve hated to see the older one fuel economy but then again nobody buys this machine for fuel economy. And if you are, you ain’t gonna get it!!

    • @SquireSCA

    • @SquireSCA
      @SquireSCA  Před rokem

      @@killroy7811 Not a scam. There is power measured at the crank, and then the power it makes at the wheel. Its the same way with cars. Ford advertises my Mustang GT as 460HP, but that is measured at the crank. Once that power has to travel through the transmission and drivetrain, its down to around 405-410hp at the wheel.
      Same with bikes. They suffer from about 15% power loss between the crank and the rear wheel. So their 164hp at the crank, is realistically around 139hp at the wheel, which is about what most make on the dyno.
      When you put a pipe on it and tune it and get 145hp at the wheel, you are actually getting about 170hp at the crank, which is now higher than Yamaha claims.

      @@killroy7811 So I am not sure what your question or concern might be? Dyno output varies from dyno to dyno. On the same day I can go to one dyno and get 138hp, and then go to another one near my house and get 158hp... One reads around 10hp low and the other one reads 10hp high... I try to go to the dynos that I know get in the middle, the average...

      The fuel gauge is very strange on this motorcycle. It goes from full to half a tank and then from half a tank to blinking at you at a quarter of a tank. There’s really no in between. I have the same motorcycle. What’s interesting though is the R1 which it is based on doesn’t even have a fuel gauge unless they change that for 2023
