Ezra McCandless was on trial for the murder of one of her three lovers, 24-year-old Alex Woodworth. Prosecutors claimed McCandless stabbed Woodworth sixteen times on March 22, 2018, to rid herself of the inner turmoil of having multiple affairs and an abortion. The defense argues McCandless acted in self-defense when Woodworth tried to rape her. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and is serving life in prison.

As someone who has bad vision they stay on my face 24 /7 I sleep with them on .
Also if having such bad vision without glasses, described by Ezra when on the stand (shortsighted), then your glasses would be much more convex in shape. It's easy to discover when looking at the outer sides of the glasses, where it makes the face/eyes smaller (everything behind the glasses gets smaller, whereas if having bad vision close up, everything gets bigger behind the glasses, such as eyes and so on)

It's never about what happened, but they always toil on side issues in an effort to create confusion and doubts. This case can be done in a shorter time.

Hi listened to her testimony and she was ALL over the place during the murder. She kept saying “at that point” and none of the story made ANY sense. She said she didn’t tell him to stop until after he put a knife on her thigh. She was so afraid of him that when they got stuck in the mud, Alex went to sit on a porch and she laid down in the back seat of her car…She laid down bc she was anxious but she said they didn’t say a word to each other, at that point…she is a sick, sick woman, imo. I think she did it bc she wanted Jason back. As they were still talking and having sex. Like, wtf??? Nothing made sense

This is my first time watching a trial from start to finish
I can’t tell if the judge is impatient or if the defense really really is trying to delay intentional with every move to create tension.
Also anyone who watches this can see how fake this woman is. Her fake crying, the fact she said she can’t see without her glasses yet sat there for the longest without wearing them?? Also good lord her explaining the essays with the journals was excruciating.

Imagine this poor guy if he didn't keep the text messages. There's so many people that have that "believe all women" mentality. His life would have been over. Was she punished? Nope. The penalty for knowingly and willingly falsely accusing someone of rape should be the same as that of rape.

I agree, falsely accusing someone should be accountable. There was a case recently when someone in the UK accused 3 men of raping her and she was charged and convicted. The problem in the past was that often rape victims were often not believed and stopped genuine victims coming forward. In fact many victims of rape still go unreported. The solution is for rape victims to get justice as well as the falsely accused.

He said after all the lies with her saying his friend r*ped her, and then Alex also took advantage of her and s3xually abused her by making her do BDSM against her will and all the other little lies he caught her in that he was just done at that point but did still care for as a person. Anyone who cries wolf about being SA and then continues to think everyone is in love with her bc she's just "so special" is a huge red flag. I felt so bad when his roommates girlfriend was testifying that Ezra called her blaming her for Jason breaking up with her and demanding she fix it said it all to me... it's your relationship and responsibility not friends to jump in and mediate y'all's drama. Especially when she lied about John SA her... that's 1 thing you just don't do. She had absolutely no remorse or care if that man would have been charged and went to prison while actually innocent as long as she got her way and Jason still adored her.

I might be wrong but I think the prosecution wasn’t allowed to bring in this was a false rape claim.
There is footage I think where it is explained that John was able to clear his name via messages that she (again) deleted. But I don’t think that’s from the trial.

Why are people so naive as to so easily believe something such as the 'headlock' thing? Ezra KNEW that Alex was known for doing the headlock on his friends, from time to time. She KNEW that if she put that in there as part of the 'assault', people would recognise it. But for them to immediately say "We've seen Alex do that, so it must be true", is so damned naive. I have an ex friend who did the same thing. She would pick up on a phrase that you may use in conversation & when she wanted to stir things up, she'd make up a lie about something one of us had supposedly said & slip the phrase into the statement, making it appear realistic. Needless to say, that is why she's an ex friend.

I know a girl who told everyone we know that this guy we know raped her. She basically made this guy’s life a living* hell over it. Then, when she was challenged about it, finally, she said she didn’t even know if she was raped. She said she didn’t remember anything, she just woke up with her clothes off in her own bed. The people at the party said she went to bed by herself. She just assumed she must have been raped and decided it was this guy because he was the only one she could “imagine” would do something like that. The truth was, she totally made an assumption based on her probably taking her own clothes off before passing out but decided to accuse this guy with nothing to back it up. She never went to the police about it but had no qualms about milking it for sympathy while admitting she doesn’t even know if anything ever happened. Also, this is a girl who would drink to blackout on a regular basis, so it’s not like anyone drugged her or anything.
That man ruined his career, misread this chick.

1:16:58 - I think this defense attorney is correct and the judge got it totally wrong. The judge called his objections "a waste of time" and it wasn't a waste of time, the defense made a very strong valid point here. This judge seems to just want to rush through this trial. Reprimanded them for time constantly

I totally agree. I don't like the defense team much but they were right on this. Watching this I definitely felt like the prosecutor was implying she should have known what to do in the event of a second assault based on the resources provided by the response team the officer called.
The judge is definitely rushing the trial and that might work in her favor on appeal.

Given the brutality of the murder, it was never in self defense. She took them out to the isolated road, brought the knife, planned to “confront” Alex when he was leaving her completely alone when she set boundaries. She would be a more believable victim if she didn’t lie to everyone her entire life to get what she wanted
The cuts were on the right side of the victim and they were done by right hand. No way, he was facing/attacking her. You're standing with the abuser/murder.
Typically when a man has prior convictions for rape, those convictions are not allowed in evidence out of concerns it might prejudice a jury. Yet, a female victim's enitre life comes into question, even from when she was a child. I am not defending her actions as murder is unacceptable but making thevpoint that the court system has historically favored the accused in sexual assault.

Yes, historically, the courts' procedures have been biased against women and people of color and the perpetrators tried to bury physical/scientific evidence with gossip. In this case, she murdered a man and lied about it over and over again. There is physical evidence to prove she lied, and there was no evidence that she was sexually assaulted. These type of flawed and irrelevant takes don't help women and enables abusers.
