What makes this ending even more depressing is when you realize the dragon will outgrow its wings without Alex to make it new ones.

@@floofy6587 assuming their wings are like that of bats, they CAN heal small holes over time, however, the size of the hole plays a large role as well as the growth speed of the creature (if it grows rapidly, the holes would fill in and likely be healthy, but if it grows slowly then the holes would likely scar over and be permanent, but small, making flight possible, but with holes in the wings altitude drop would happen faster, meaning more energy to stay airborn, meaning shorter flight times and more time spent finding food, now this wouldnt be too big a problem, but this would only affect one side, meaning that while one wing would be fine, the other would work twice as hard to stay up, effectively halving time spent flying on the same amount of energy, with all this wasted energy little could go to actual growth, so this will likely mean that this will affect them for the rest of their life, it won't kill them, but life will be hard

I agree with the consensus that the "A" version had the happier ending, but this is bittersweet, and in a way, it's got its own charm and beauty.

Technically Alex made fully working wings whilst the Elytra is just gliding wings where you can use fireworks to make yourself get a boost to stay in the air
But the wings would be to heavy with all the wood and metal and little amount of cloth only a really strong air current would make the wings useful

As much as both versions have left me in tears of heartwarming love for these wholesome stories and beautiful animations, I still have to ask why Alex didn't just make another set of wings for herself to fly alongside the dragon?
I’m guessing that maybe the wings took years to make and that Alex didn’t have enough time to make another pair?
It probably took a long time to make one since there seems to be only one (not counting elytras which are scattered all over the end)
Idk maybe it expensive, materials are hard to get, or it just takes alot of time to make something as good as a pair of wings 👀
