I always put my caps on before adjusting it is easier I think and the measurement never changes and you know for sure the side screws are in straight just my opinion. Good video.
Excellent explanation, many thanks, but I am a little bit confused about the relationship between the pinion depth and the pinion bearings preload and the backlash,is the backlash obtained only by moving the ring gear or by adjusting the pinion depth
What about checking for the correct contact pattern? You might have to adjust the pinion too to get an ideal contact pattern...any idea why that part was left out?
This is the best video I found for adjusting side bearings and backlash, Thank you for sharing this video.
Thanks for the info. Simple and easy to understand. Helped me set up log skidder differential.
Awesome Video, first video that actually demonstrated the proper method of using a dial indicator.
+carsearch2001 Yes That's Right Good Tech Here

Good demo, can you do Meritor differential 145 series also?
Good video thanks.
Is this procedure similar to 8 & 9 inch ford rear ends? Good video BTW👍
Hello sir, is the adjustment reading applicable to all kinds of diffrential including japanese trucks? Btw Nice video.
Engelbert Valdepenas most trucks I know...are all around 12-15 backlash

Il ne ya pas l'interprétation française?
I agree with this video!
Thanks great video. do you have one on the chrush sleeve
Ausgezeichnet 👍👍👍👍👍
👌👍
No. You just adjust the side load when you stop hearing the pinion gear slipping on the ring gear when you take off, and you should be good.
thanks for the vid
Next time just put the caps on first. Absolute waste of time. Unless you're working hourly.
+Andrew Cooke This was done as per the Roadranger service manual procedures.

Not one of these diff videos is done by a professional....they are all done by amateurs...and are completely wrong.
Peter Hart why are they? I’m a professional transmission/Diff technician and think he’s done a great job...
