    Why start to finish relationship (SF) is undesirable in plan??

      @SoftEdemy  Před 6 měsíci

      Complexity and Confusion:
      SF relationships are counter-intuitive compared to other types of dependencies. While Finish-to-Start (FS), Start-to-Start (SS), and Finish-to-Finish (FF) relationships are easier to understand and visualize, SF relationships can create confusion in understanding the sequence of activities. This complexity can lead to misunderstandings and miscommunications among project team members.
      Scheduling Difficulties:
      SF relationships can complicate the scheduling process. In Primavera P6, or any other project management software, these relationships can make it more challenging to calculate the critical path, delays, and slack times accurately. This is because the logic of an activity starting only after another activity finishes is less common and harder to track.
      Rarely Occurs in Practice:
      In most projects, the sequence of activities is such that one task starts after another finishes (FS) or tasks start or finish together (SS or FF). SF relationships are rare in practical scenarios. Using them frequently might indicate a misunderstanding of the project's workflow or an overly complicated project structure.
      Risk of Incorrect Use:
      Due to their rarity and complexity, there's a higher risk of incorrectly applying SF relationships in a project schedule. This misuse can lead to an inaccurate representation of the project plan, potentially leading to project delays and inefficiencies.
      Difficulty in Monitoring and Control:
      Monitoring and controlling a project with SF relationships can be more challenging. It's harder to determine the impact of delays or changes in one activity on another when they are connected by an SF relationship.
      In conclusion,
      while SF relationships are a valid part of the scheduling toolset, their use is typically limited to very specific and uncommon scenarios. In most cases, other types of relationships (FS, SS, FF) are preferred for their simplicity, clarity, and ease of use in both planning and execution phases of a project.
