If their sin was self involvement, surely demonizing the elderly is doing the same thing. If time is linear and every generation think it's the revolution, zoomers are going to have this moment used against them in about 10 years. And the age thing can be dealt with in a much more granular way. A high school kid might regard college age people as desperately unfashionable and despise middle school kids. Give it two years. The twenty year brackets were cute in the pre internet age. But in an accelerated culture, generational differences might become 10, 5 or 2 years. So the desperately unfashionable can at least take joy in knowing that soon enough, you'll be as lame as them (and eventually as dead as them). If we're going to mechanically act out a sequence of events we've done before, we might as well practice telling the young to get off the lawn and sadly observing that youth is wasted on the young.
(I would however throw in that given their age, boomers may well listen to louder music than the young and be on much stronger drugs.)
