    I just picked an FX30 new on sale for 1347 dollars, I love it

    Great review! 👍

    This was really informative! Thanks for this! I've been on the fence on upgrading my A7III to an a7siii or FX3 or FX30. But hopefully soon I can make a decision. 😄

      Glad I could help. Of those 3, I would personally go for the FX3, the main reason for getting the FX30 instead would be budget

    Yes, you can record internally & externally @ the same frame rate simultaneously. But not in log. Go to log settings & turn it off. And of course in RAW as well

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I have since remembered that was the reason, but I don't get why. And I kinda don't want to not shoot in log, it's been great since I switched

      @@itmeremy I agree, we should be allowed to record in log as well. I’m not sure who’s to blame for it though. Atmos or Sony

    Why would you prefer to not have a viewfinder? I understand not minding if it’s not there but not sure why one would prefer to not have it.

    • @itmeremy
      @itmeremy  Před 7 měsíci +5

      Because if I'm not going to use it, it's making the camera unnecessarily bigger and makes things more awkward to mount. The top handle would also have to be different to account for a viewfinder

    Of course, if there is a larger sensor in existence, the sensor one size below it will always be the worse one. One day, Sony will come up with larger-than-today's FF sensor - and today's FF sensor will be considered as the worse one. There will be plethora of CZcams videos comparing noise between these two..... And debate will continue ... There are Sony and Canon professional camcorders that utilize only 1" sensor - and still are considered professional, selling for thousands of dollars. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Crop Sensor. Expose properly, and get good blacks without noise with any sensor. Thank you for sharing your experience!

      I actually don't believe that'll happen, medium format is a thing, and Arri have their LF and 65mm sensors, which aren't necessarily considered better than the Alexa 35. It'll be a pretty big jump in technology when we can make sensors significantly bigger and also perform better. Plus, full frame is based on 35mm film, and since the camera community can't seem to let go of film, I don't see us moving on any time soon.

      @elmono3939 Před 7 měsíci

      @@itmeremy New generation will come that has no attachment to 35mm size sensor - and new sensor is born. Trust me - if something can be better than present invention - it will succeed. As far Arri goes - Arri is reaching very small segment of users, mostly professionals and accomplished amateur filmmakers.. Once they drop prices, small-time filmmakers will jump on the opportunity and buy.

      @elmono3939 that's a fair point. If that happens, everything will probably juat move up. APSC is still very common now, once medium format becomes more accessible, full frame might just become what super35 is now

    OK, all this is nice and your opinion matters.
    But you are being illogical with your n°1 disadvantage. You say "This APS-C/Super35 sensor is a bad thing when you also have full-frame cameras.", and this immediately becomes irrelevant.
    Because you made the choice to take the FX30 camera (nobody forced you to, I hope !), a camera with a 16×24 mm sensor, when you could have bought a camera with a 24×36 mm sensor.
    What you call a "con" actually comes from you decision, NOT from this piece of gear !
    Chose all your cameras with the same size of sensor, this aspect evaporates. It has nothing to do with this specific machine, but with the fact you are mixing things.
    And, by the way, what you name "full-frame" is not. It also is cropped.
    Because the only real full-frame cameras are those photographic chambers in which you load 10×13 or 13×18 cm photo-plaques.
    All the other cameras are cropped, in comparison to them.
    The proper words should be stated by numbers, like it use to be with films. So the A7 series is composed of cameras with 24×36 sensors, and the A6XXX series cameras have 16×24 sensors, and GFX/PhaseOne/Hasselblad cameras are fitted with 45×60 or 60×70 sensors.
    When everyone starts coming back to those more appropriate names, confusion shall disappear forever !
    And we will start considering sensors from a quality viewpoint (dynamic range, output signal, pixel sizes, matrix), not from a quantity viewpoint (number of pixels). Because, we want better, not (only) more.

      @itmeremy  Před 6 měsíci

      I did say that it's not really a con, but it kind of is. And I don't think the fact that I couldn't afford an FX3 instead is necessarily a huge choice, more of a restriction of choice.
      With the sensor size thing, I highly doubt we would ever be at a point where we go by numbers, rather than giving them names. I didn't make up these names, the manufacturers of these cameras have been using them for years. So I think denying that apsc, full frame or medium format aren't real things is a little naive
