    Hey Thanks Nev, grate to see you again, I took up the shooter stance about 15 months ago after seeing your vid. Its been a real game changer for me. I was playing more
    consistent bowls after just one week of practice, and have been enjoying the game a whole lot more.
    So glade to see you back.

    Good to see a new video up Nev and to hear that there is more inbound. I implemented the shooter stance in my game a few months back at the tail end of the indoor season here in Scotland and have definitely hit the green running in the outdoor playing some amazing bowls and more consistently hitting my line. Thank you, and please keep the videos coming regularly.

    This is great news and thanks for the up and coming video clips. the outdoor bowling season is winding down in the Northern hemisphere, so maybe we need a segment on how to stay mentally sharp. Montreal Canada

    Great videos, hoping to see some more. I've been bowling a few years and I'm pretty good but my backhand can sometimes not be the most consistent however since switching to the shooter stance(which for the record has been about two weeks) my consistency on both hands has doubled, so thanks for sharing that with us.Also I know you are busy with coaching vids but I'd like to see some more bowls reviews, as there are little to no bowls review videos online which can make choosing a set you have to get delivered from Australia a bit annoying as you can't try them first, thanks mate

    Hi, Nev, I have watched a few of your videos, just by coming across them. I saw your Shooters Stance a couple of weeks ago and I used it the following day in a Triples Tournament, had a great day and we took away the cabbage. I also agree with your comments about the better bowlers keeping things to themselves, I have been playing for 5 or 6 years and apart from a tip here and there, I have not had any formal coaching lessons and that's not from the want of asking. So I look forward to seeing more of your coaching videos. Cheers Jamie.

    Hi Nev, good to hear you're going to post more vid's! Wishing you all the best! I've been putting a lot of effort into trying out what you've suggested in previous posts, with a growing confidence. Look forward to some Q&A time in the near future. Nailing the jack, and rhythm speed vid has been put to use, but avoiding the amatuer method could do with some updates on how to control weight. Shooter stance took a while to get used to, but I'm an advocate of balance now. 9 tenths is my next target. More on weight control please. Enjoy your new horizons, and thanks again!

    Hi Nev, so enjoy your videos and looking forward to seeing more. Am doing the Shooters stance even though some other (older) bowlers comment that I am not standing right etc, but I am happy with it. Luckily one of the coaches at my club is also doing it and he is right giving me off season coaching and know what I am doing. Thank you again and as said so looking forward to more of your videos

      TY Sharane, yup I know the feeling of people trying to tell you how to do it. Thinking for yourself and basing the decision on results would be a good way to tackle it. Don't mind them, when you start to beat them they will be asking you how you do it. :p

    Hi Nev I am new to lawn bowls only bowling for last six months and also did ten pin for 35 years , I find it difficult to using the standard text book methods , but I have found that I have adapted the way I hold the bowl and and the way I set up to what I focus on when delivering the bowl ,I believe that everyone is different and they need to find what works for them as I have tried different things to know what works for me ....

    Cheers Nev.......you make great vids and they really do help, so please keep them coming.It's about time we had a new way of thinking and coaching especially as I'm starting to coach my young lad....I got the older blokes trying to coach him and its all old school way and i end up pulling my hair out, so would be great to be able to pass on some newer forward thinking techniques and thought processes. Keep it up!

    • @NevRodda
      @NevRodda  Před 8 lety

      +Pete Bowler on ya Pete. It would be awesome to compile a book. This method could seriously change the way a lot of people play. Getting it out there is generally the harder part.

    • @petebowler3087
      @petebowler3087 Před 8 lety

      Would be great to a complete vid series or e.book etc.....
      The one area I struggle with is that I play as a skipper....and find it hard to gauge my aiming point as its different every time as your playing so many different types of shots. With a singles game I'm bang on the money as I can just draw and find an aiming point and hit it every time with the shooter stance but when skipping I generally change where I look to somewhere down the green where I think the break point will be...is there a better way or should I find my point and adust from there?
      You should think about setting up a web forum where you can do a question and answer session!!!!

    • @NevRodda
      @NevRodda  Před 8 lety +1

      Thats a cool suggestion. I have registered the domain buildyourskill.com.au and am thinking about setting up a site for coaching. I will keep that in mind Pete, perhaps advanced commenting for Q & A

    G'day Nev, glad to hear all's well over there champ. Can you do a video on where you actual look when bowling, some use the bank the arc or even 6 foot in front. I ask some of the state bowler's and they say they don't really look at one spot but they just visualize a line and bowl to it. A video best drills for weight control aka 42 etc Take care Boss

    Good Day Nev. I am French. Very interesting tutorial. I recently started playing bowls about 2 months ago in South Africa. Up until now, I have been playing with a 3H DRAKES ball but recently tried a 2.5 AERO ball. I found the AERO easier to control, but then again I only used the 2.5 for about 5 minutes... I find that, during competitions, I play well for the first hour or so but after that my game deteriorates. Do you think this is because of muscle fatigue or something else? I play at 2 clubs and majority of the senior players seek me out for their teams as I apparently have what they call a natural talent for the game even at such an early stage of my play (great confidence booster!). I definitey do not have a big ego but rather an absolute desire to add value to my team and to not let them down with poor performance on game day. I practice every single day for a couple of hours at least and am eager to perfect my skill. Any advice from you will be received with gratitude. I hope to hear from you! Best regards, Noel

    • @NevRodda
      @NevRodda  Před 4 lety

      Hey Noel. Generally form drops off in a game because of two reasons..... firstly, the green can change. Grass stands up and follows the sun, it could start raining etc. Secondly, focus is everything and its hard to do for a long period of time. What you could do, its go back to basics, focus on getting some rhythm and working yourself back into the game :)

    I'm very new to lawn bowls so I can't make a definitive comment BUT. I started with the traditional stance, right foot pointing per club coach advice and I was crap. Yesterday I rolled up with the shooters stance, guess what, right on line 3 out of 4 both hands. The misses were due to my release. Thanks Nev.

  • @stevehall5299
    @stevehall5299 Před 2 lety

    Hi Nev the shooter stance is brilliant, I just want to share a thought, coaches can talk about a lot of stuff and be a bit too correct, we, are all differant shapes, and sizes, for me one of the most crucial prerequisites for me, and it's like the penny just dropped recently, it's don't bounce em, don't drop them, because it's a variable that you cannot calculate,, in golf if you take a pitching wedge and take it waist high and swing to waist high you will hit it around 100 yards, but only if you hit it cleanly,, so in bowls you have a similar deal, take the arm back so far, get the rhythm speed right and it go's maybe 30 yds, depending on conditions,and you can repeat it if you are a good player, but drop one and you don't get an authentic value for what you intended, then its like hit and hope, This detail is so important for me, all best.
