    Sweet as. This is the content I need in my life! Thank you for saving me time- I have a big bag of potatoes to NOT blanch haha and freeze. If it's not really worth the effort then I shall conserve my energy for other things

      Won't the water from freezing affect the oil when frying??

    4/27/24: Hi Sierra, Love that you took the time to do the side-by-side comparison. I now have an idea of which way to go. I'm gonna try both ways just as you did to see how they taste after I cook them! I'm excited to see how mine come out. Thank you so much. (Coming to you from California!)

    Thanks for the tips, as a teen in the 60's I worked at a hamburger restaurant where we blanched all our fries in hot cooking oil, then froze them. We were selling lots of fries back then. Also we fried in grease before serving at the restaurant.

    I know this is an older video but if you ever do need to separate stuff for baking on a tray. Just make a divider out of foil wrap to put in the middle.

    This was a great experiment with very useful information. Years ago I was able to buy kumeras cheap and I chopped them up, blanched and froze them. So useful to grab a couple for dinner. I wonder if it could be done with pumpkin too?

    • @CheaperWaysNZ
      @CheaperWaysNZ  Před rokem +3

      Yeah I've heard of it being done with lots of different veges but haven't experimented much with other types other than freezing fruit - all good stuff to know!

      I cube and freeze my pumpkin without blanching and it’s fine. I don’t blanch any of my ver and never have any issues

    Very interesting video i must try both myself but i do feel i will blank. We do blanch beans. My frozen chips stick to the tray when coming from my freezer, is there a good way of getting around that problem Many thanks,

      @CheaperWaysNZ  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yeah ours did stick a bit but I just picked them off - although you could use baking paper or a non-stick sheet and that would probably do the trick 🙂
