Makaton - WHEN YOU SAY NOTHING AT ALL

AAC Awareness Month is celebrated around the world each October. The event was first established by ISAAC in 2007. The goal is to raise awareness of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and to inform the public about the many different ways in which people communicate using communication devices.
This year we've taken the love song 'When You Say Nothing At All' as our inspiration. We wanted to create a montage of our Singing Hands friends showing how they communicate with us in various ways and raise awareness about AAC.
In the footage we see examples of our non/pre-verbal children and young people using various AAC devices, apps on tablets, Makaton and Widgit symbols, facial expression, physical touch, eye contact and signing to express their feelings, needs and wants. Enjoy. #AACaware23
