  • Do this at your own risk! I am not responsible for any possible damage. Be careful when choosing the display to get a compatible one.
Please use proper protective equipment (rubber gloves and a mask/respirator) if you decide to attempt a Glass-only repair.

This was very interesting too watch along. I once tried doing this without diamond wire and suction and failed

First time i thought about trying this was nexus 7 (2012) tablet years ago. Didn't have diamond wire or proper heating platform with suction. Ended up buying a complete display assembly.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I will try my first glass only replacement very soon :) Without propper tools also haha, but I figure if I want to learn...and anyway, it will also make it easier if I decide to get the right tools one day

Glad to hear this is of some use to someone! I made a video about this since i can't find much detailed videos about glass-only repair, especially in english... i think at least in part that may be because only-glass repair is so time-consuming doing this professionally in many "first-world" countries is not worth it. So even if the display is fine it is thrown away in repair because the time spent on it by the technician is too expensive :( I just want to fix stuff and not throw repairable things away.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 Thanks for your reply. I'm motivated by the same things, but also think that it might be a feasable way to make some money. I think it depends on a few factors!! I'll keep you updated on how it goes :)

@@TheKoodus For sure you can make money, but when spent time is factored in, probably not very easy. It would always help to have a larger batch of same phone model for efficiency. Are you going to replace Oled or LCD glasses? I finally got another video edited specifically about LCD's, been procrastinating for months on these since editing sucks: czcams.com/video/_RInTxVD0Gs/video.html
