Love this! So much of what he has shared aligns beautifully with what I've learned in recovery from drugs and alcohol. It's crazy to think The drugs and alcohol were the solution for me to get through life for so long and it brought me so far down onto my knees to a point of surrender to be open enough to see a different way of being which is what I was looking for from the very beginning. For him it was A simple conversation with a friend That made him question that inner voice For me was unbelievable pain and suffering that I did to myself people around me. No matter,, I am grateful for the journey now. 9 years sober.

If love to see a film of The surrender experiment !! It would be a block buster - the story of is amazing and will show people that a very real and influential tech billionaire got there just by surrendering. This film would do more for persuading people to be more “ spiritual “ than anything - what an amazing and inspirational story and I’m M going to live this way.

That is very true and I love it. I love being present and in this moment. It really is all that counts. The problem here. Is I need a better solution? Because people will automatically take you for a ******* ride. Behind your back they will steal your ****. Surrendering, I understand isn't passive. But we need a narrative. To protect us against the fools who will try to embezzle, steal, manipulate and cajole us. I can be present all I want. And be decent. But it doesn't help. When people steal **** from you. As a result of your kindness and goodness.

@@DEFACTO9 You don't need a narrative, you just need to silence your mind in order to hear what your heart is aware of. And let go of people pleasing and approval seeking behavior. Turn your eyes inward and look with the feeling in your heart, and turn your ears outward and listen to the silence of your breath.

The mind is like a computer normally for people the mind is always talking about what is wrong. When you are not listening to that negative voice in your mind you have let go of the past and are open to greater ideas and energy that you have lost in the first place due negative past experiences.

I discovered "The Untethered Soul" 3 years ago and continue to reread it. I went further and purchased all of Michael Singer's audio discussions as well as the Sounds True "Living From a Place of Surrender" course when it was released. I repeat listen to all of it. I often feel like a cult of one, so it's a treat to hear Tami engage with Michael and drill down on the course and seek clarification for some of the teachings. As Michael points out here -- as well in the course -- these teachings don't bear instant fruit. It's a lifetime's endeavor. At the end of Session 8 of the Sounds True course he implores the listener to continue working with the material, to not treat it as a weekend course that you took and then move on to the next thing. The teachings aren't complicated, they're deep, and it takes constant concerted attention and awareness to cut through the thicket of a lifetime's conditioning and samskaras that have formed. I don't find any conflict in Michael's teachings to those offered by many of the other fine teachers on the Sounds True roster, but for me at least, jumping from one teacher to the next becomes a distraction to going deep. Michael's teachings can keep you busy enough for a LONG time. It's changed and is changing me. He's been a true gift. Thank you, Michael. Thank you, Tami.

@@weareadventuresam I'm so sorry Mama! I know your pain.💔 I too lost my 22 year old son 2 years ago. For me, letting go didn't mean letting go of my love for him, or even my grief of losing him. Instead it meant letting go of the story I told myself about his death... How it was unfair, how it shouldn't of happened..ect.. I know everyones journey is unique and i dont profess to know the answers. I can only say what helped me. My soul has found comfort in embracing my pain, then trusting that the universe can show me" beauty from ashes" and make my pain sacred by releasing my narrow vision of the facts surrounding his death. I've heard the question"How long does grief last? ....as long as Love does"! Your grief will ALWAYS be there, but it is a reminder of the love you share with your daughter, which is NOT dead, and neither is SHE! I now have a new story and it has made all the difference in my grief journey. I pray the universe blankets you in love and comfort. How had the journey been this past year (may I ask?)? I have in the past five weeks had recognition of and releasing of limiting thoughts which became 50-year filters of my life experiences. Liberating and roller-coaster ride emotional chunking - highs and lows, relief and despair in the new void of presence. Almost overwhelm. How have you steadied your journey if you’ve had similar recognitions and despair (or how you would describe it for yourself)? I have leaned on and shared with 2 close friends. Prayed for assistance. Stayed in thoughtful, intentional action toward new goals. Journaled. Listened and re-listened to talks like this…thank you for sharing 😊

But I know this position for me for the amount of peace I get out of it and I enjoy giving and helping while in the position. But dealing with unconsciousness daily takes a toll on me. Sometimes I just want to run away and move to the Bush and be by myself. But then I come across micheal, start reading his book and I realise how much I let the unconsciousness stay within me.

If I had one suggestion for the questioner is to see if you can be softer around the edges with this and a little less literal. I get the vibe that's she's very intelligent and used to using her mind to figure things out but that faculty tends to hurt rather than help in this endeavor. I say this as someone who is very thought oriented and grew up thinking I could solve everything with the mind...including the mind itself. I am addicted to thought and treating it as such has helped immensely. Anyone reading this far and in the same boat, my advice, chill out a little. Soften up on it. Relax into it. Let go of the desire to "solve the problem of self.". Michaels advice can even be used on all of those urges (addictions) to utilize thought and intellect. See what remains after you soften up. See the ever present intellect that's already there without your effort...it's me...it's you.

I just completed the 8 episode course "Living from a Place of Surrender" last evening. And I am going to watch it again. I am so enjoying this surrender technology. It is so simple. I didn't say "easy", I said simple. I love leaning back and experiencing what there is to experience.
Yesterday I fell headfirst in the shower. Saw stars. My first thought was that I would be spending time in the hospital. My second thought was Mickey saying "This will only happen a few times in your life, so use it to go to God!" And I did. It was immediately relaxing. Gave my next moments freedom as I surrendered. What a triumph. I did not go to the hospital, and I was able to experience that fear in surrender. Beautiful.
Tami and Mickey I'm showing parts of this to my 13yr old daughter and she loves it; It's my delight to see that she gets it instantly. I've done tons of work, from est to Unity, many workshops..... and now this. I'm going to watch this series again, it is so rich.
Mickey, you might recall we met when you were hosting Yogi Desai and I was visiting on legal business; you took me for a tour and told me your story. I know that the Universe was creating the time we had together for 13.8 billion years but why in the universe couldn't you have mentioned this surrender technology then? Damn man, I'd be enlightened by now!! (I know I know, we're not supposed to claim enlightenment, and believe me, I don't; I'm still several samskaras from that..) And yet what you did teach me that day about your accumulation of the Temple property, your service to your Lord and your morning prayer ritual, has been a great help to me many days; and a teaching I pass on to my clients and the people of my spiritual center I serve here in Michigan.
Tami and Mickey I'm in your debt and forever grateful.
Dear Reader, this interview between Tami and Mickey Singer is a nice appetizer. Enjoy the feast. Participate in the full course, I respectfullly suggest.

Recently I was Confronted With an old old scar that happened to me when I was 4 or 5 years old, it was Christmas morning my parents woke my 3 brothers and myself to open our presents, when I came into the room I saw my heart's desire sitting under the Christmas tree, it was the most beautiful big brown teddy bear I had ever seen, I ran towards it and picking him up and holding him in my arms, I was in Love with him the moment I saw him, the next thing I know as I was embracing him, he was gone snatched out of my arms by my Dad, as he spoke these words to me saying, "that's not yours, that's your brothers!" I reached out my arms towards the teddy bear in my dad's hands screaming "but Daddy I love him!" I cried and cried and cried as my dad handed me a stuffed poodle dog and said, "this is yours" I took that dog from my dad and later traded another toy for it to my oldest brother.
A few years later my 2nd oldest brother, the one who got the teddy bear, began to sexually abuse me. For years I hated him not just because of the abuse but because I thought he stole my teddy bear, but what I have learned from that experience with the experience that brought it up was that the teddy bear was never mine in the first place and how could he take something from me that wasn't mine, it was to me because I wanted that teddy so much because I asked God for it for a Christmas present and to me Austin stole it.
I dealt with that painful Emotion and since have not experienced such power of that emotion pain since.

Michael Singer you're brilliant in spiritual matters! It's obvious that you have put a lot of your life into meditating, thinking, reflecting, working on the inner being and then have written books to impart your wisdom....hopefully, many interested humans will find that becoming very close with spirituality and themselves is the most important thing to do to make this world a better place.....making yourself a better person. I feel that this is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of my life, to work on myself so that I will be more conscious and awake, and then I will treat others, or whatever is going on in my life, with compassion, calm, and love.
I'm very grateful that I have found you on youtube and have listened to many talks, and this one is particularly great.
    Many thanks....

Surrender. I listened for a definition from Mr. Singer but didn't hear one. So here it is: "willingness to surrender a part of your being that you don't need, that is holding you down, or that is causing you a problem." The source is Mr. Singer's introduction to his course (which I bought today and look forward to taking.) Surrender is not defined as "giving in to someone else" he said. You might say that a definition isn't useful if the word being defined is used in the definition. I would agree. It's a bit unsatisfying so I will continue with the course to learn more about this concept of surrender. Tami Simon provided this definition in her introduction: "Take a witness position and relax any sense of holding." This might be a more useful for me. There is so much to think about; this is all new to me but I'm excited.

Enlightenment is only the beginning point of the actual journey, that’s where it starts but after your body’s journey is complete the end is as a whole called enlightenment ( you and Your body) as we are all light workers learning to become spirit guides to guide our bodies through, of our bodies journey.

When choices occur, we've got to stop listening to the voices telling us to pick up what we think would make us happy or avoid making us miserable (two notions coming from past experiences) and determine what would be of service to everyone. Going through life with a bag of preferences reduces the field of possibilities.

I just found this book last week on a recommendation from Naval Ravikant. Started listening in the morning with the intention of getting through a few chapters and ended up leaving the headphones in all day and finishing the book. No doubt one of the best, if not the best spiritual books ever written. I intend to visit Mr. Singer in Florida as soon as his temple re-opens. The book changed my life in a day.
I was also fascinated to find out that he was the person who led Swami Muktananda to visit prison inmates, as my first experience with this topic was the course that Baba produced for people who are incarcerated. Very likely would never have happened without Mr. Singer. I owe this man, as that course put me on the spiritual path and made my prison experience one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Now I'm listening to the second lesson and surrender came up right away. Michael says, in the opening moments, three things about surrender: "I'm not going to define surrender." Surrender is "letting to what is not true." Surrender is "releasing ignorance." He also says "stay with me on this journey and it will all come clear". I intend to stay with the course. (Despite a boring 2nd Lesson which is all about science and cosmology and quantum physics that seemed to be his way of trying to convince us that this moment is precious and we should view every moment as a wonderful opportunity to participate in this "dance.")
Ashton Duffy's question - posed below - still has me thinking of a useful answer and a method to let go at the very moment I need to do it. These teachings from Michael Singer offer some clues.
This outside world is not to be taken personally. Change your attitude to be founded on the truth of the world. Respect and honor everything that has been given to you in this moment.
Do not force yourself to have this attitude. It’s a natural state because you’re not attached to the part of you that is not being present.
We’ve talked about Surrender. Let go the part of you that was keeping you out of the moment.
Say thank you to everything you see. Appreciate it. Understand that you don’t deserve anything.

One of the best things I ever read was the process of how we can actually change.
In situations where we are triggered you have the situation/person that triggers something in you and then your reaction.
The place for change comes in that small space in time....(sometimes a second) between what they said or did and your reaction.
    This is where change occurs.
This is achieved by remaining present so you are aware and can choose how and if you react as opposed to going into autopilot.

Today I had a non surrender situation, and one of my realizations was that human evolution happened because of natural selection, saying that, surrender is not part of our evolution. I might not do things gracefully but I fight for myself because turning the other cheek could be applied and I am for it but I love myself and respect myself so I do what I can to make my position clear to the opponent.

I suppose there are two ways of seeing life. One in which we feel "deserving" or "undeserving" of circumstances; it creates a sense of defensiveness, a sense that there are things or people out to get you. It is living through the ego. The other way of seeing life is the one in which we feel that every circumstance presented in our lives is for our greater good thus realizing nothing or no one are "out to get us". Paranoia vs pronoia. Ego vs spirit. Judgement vs Love.
