    No mention in the video that while on tour, Dennis's movie star good looks allegedly acted like a magnet to the band's groupies, which spawned jealousy on the part of the other band members. Source of this was a Beach Boys related biography I read years ago, but I can't recall the title.

    There was a TV movie about the Beach Boys, I think on ABC in about 1989. That movie depicted Dennis as having intentionally killed himself by drowning. It showed him looking like a homeless dude, fully clothed and tattered-looking, running down a dock and taking a highly emotional-looking final dive into the water. Maybe they didn't have the whole story straight at the time, but it sucks that they'd depict him that way when the real thing was just an accident and not intentional.

      if you're talking about Summer Dreams that's not how they portrayed Dennis' drowning at all (the only other tv movie An American Family ends the Beach Boys story with Brian returning to the stage in '76.)

      Truth be told, he was a homeless dude, fully (shabbily) clothed, and extremely tattered looking. He had been in a fight with a male friend of Shawn Love, had a blood alcohol level of .26, plus wouldn't stay in a rehab which he desperately needed. He had been fired from the Beach Boys (who offered to reinstate him and help him with his bills and getting his boat back if he'd complete rehab), lost his sailboat for nonpayment, broken up with his 4th wife (Shawn Love), and basically wandered the streets drinking vodka and orange juice out of jugs while always seeking coke and heroin. Over the years, there had been speculation, even though he was a strong swimmer, that he gave up because it's been rumored that the rescue found him curled up in a fetal position.

    That video description looks incredibly ai / chat bot written - so much for the promised "exclusive interviews with friends, family members, and industry insiders", "captivating archival footage" "and never-before-seen interviews",

      Yes. Isn't that a shame. No creativity anymore. I loved The Beach Boys and of course, Dennis was the big draw for his masculinity and good looks. But I must take exception with the AI script. He was not very talented as a drummer, certainly not as a singer, and I don't recall any songs he may have written.

      Manson was a CIA operative or dupe. He was arrested so many times and he kept getting released. If that were today we'd believe it pretty easy but back then criminals weren't just released on PTAs. Alvin Bragg wasn't born yet. Go read 'Chaos' by Tom O'Neal. It's about Bugliosi, Manson, Terry Melcher and how that theory about Mason's family were going to help the blacks rule after the big race war - that whole theory was made up by Bugliosi and the Feebs. Wild story but I only listened to the Audible version but Wow!

    Some of the pictures are random fan art and fan created imaginary album art, plus ai generated fan art. Also - "He and his brothers created timeless tunes like Pet Sounds" really? lol (Pet Sounds is an instrumental on the album Pet Sounds - it's famously pretty much Brian Wilson plus The Wrecking Crew's baby, Dennis played on it a little bit plus did some backing vocals but doing do any creating).

  • @jend80
    @jend80 Před 4 měsíci +2

    Main script is kinda basic / overly simplistic, doesn't even get basic facts right about the circumstances of Dennis' death - Shawn wasn't his ex-wife, they were still legally married when he died, and it was things he'd thrown overboard during his earlier marriage to Karen Lamm he was reportedly diving for & a photo of him & Karen he salvaged in one of dives that day.

    I find it difficult to sympathize with Dennis Wilson's mourners. He was out of control nearly all the time and specifically targeted other band members to humiliate. While the drug life-style for California rock celebrities seemed to "improve" them at parties, it was a well known risk. He was not only drug addicted, but alcoholic as well. He was responsible for his choices and ultimately his own death. Unexpected? I hardly think so.

    • @judis6224
      @judis6224 Před 9 dny

      Prr5406,Mike love wasn't very nice to him,yes he was on drugs,alcohol,he had stopped the drugs,he couldn't afford them.like Mike love said,sending mixed signals,murry was a bully,if they they had of sued him and locked him away,they would of been fine,Brian loved some of his hearing,all three beaten,made to look in his eye hole without an eye,they were good people,you would go off the rails.their mother was no help,you protect your kids over anyone and anything,you would die for them.there was no love or encouragement shown as dennis said in a song, knew alot of woman,but no love ,felt empty and alone,sad,didn't think people would care about how he felt,with bleeding over the record,but people did,trying to get out of the shadow of the beach boys,he didn't want to be in a band. Yet that's what would have saved him,he didn't want to die,it was either hitting his head on the boat or being pulled down under the water by a diver,it was all watched by the people at the marina,but nothing done.
