  • A forensics expert who led the search for Nicola Bulley in the River Wyre believes this video disproves the theory that she fell in.
This video shows the stretch of the river where the mother-of-two is feared to have fallen.
It shows, Peter Faulding says, that the river is slow-moving - meaning that if she was in the river, her body should be nearby.
Faulding, who has worked on cases involving serial killers, was drafted in to help with Lancashire Police's efforts.
The 45-year-old has been missing since January 27, after she disappeared while taking her dog for a walk.

I believe that the 2nd witness holds the key. The one who claims to have found Willow. She didn’t find Willow, I think she tied Willow up after an altercation with Nicola. The claim of having to leave the dog and phone there to get to an app gave her an hour to sort out the problem before contacting other people. Who would wait an hour finding someone’s phone and dog? There is a red van on the caravan site. And the cctv there which would’ve shown everything, was conveniently “broken”. 🤔 she never left the fields, at least by foot. They would’ve been able to get her out of there before anyone even knew she was missing. This woman also didn’t want to be named. It’s all very suspect if you ask me…

I find it difficult to believe that she could fall into the river and be immediately immobilised to the extent that she couldn't call for help. Her calls would unsettle the dog. It would surely be found in a distressed state. I think that, if she died and started to float down river the dog would follow, it may even have jumped in to the water to help its mistress.
If she just fell, she would enter the water right at the edge, where the water is at its shallowest - she could surely have just stood up.
The "fell into the river" story has more holes than cheesecloth.
I have no idea of her personal life, but the scenario that was found smacks to me of a planned disappearance. The dog was calm - it could have been told to "sit, stay". The phone was deliberately left as the only way to contact her.

    • @wronggeometry
      @wronggeometry Před rokem +11

The dog was found agitated. Despite what so many comments on this story say, dogs do not blindly jump into water to save drowning people. They have their own survival instincts and if they saw someone get into trouble they aren't likely to throw themselves to their own deaths in some kind of Disneyfied rescue attempt. Nicola could have hit her head or broken her neck in the fall, or suffered cardiac arrest on contact with the cold water. 'She could surely have stood up' shows a lack of understanding about how water accidents occur. It's perfectly possible that she fell in.

I don't personally think she ever fell in the water, she's a healthy looking lady and people that know her have all said she was a strong swimmer, IMO most people that fall in a calm river like that would easily make it back over to the edge.

I feel frustrated for the family. If just one good detective had followed standard protocol and immediately secured the scene to preserve evidence - this would have been a very different story. I think it's safe to assume that the police working the case must have realised their mistake relatively early on - but due to crime scene contamination - were left with little option but to double down on the river searching which ironically further degraded the potential crime. As it stands - this is a cold case if ever I saw one.

This "case" is interesting.. The dog was found bone dry, dogs do not hesitate to go in water after the owner, which is a good sign to rule out her being dumped in the river.
Apparently there is what was thought to be an abandoned building nearby, it wasn't and a 72 year old man lives there.. Why is he not the first and most immediate suspect? You might say he is too old to abduct anyone.. But there are capable 72 year olds, his age is good cover.. ... If I was investigating, I would try and get a search warrant for there.
Also Nicola had a job at the bank as a mortgage/loan adviser... Could it be any of the people who got their application rejected wanting revenge? Are those people who had a meeting with her specifically, not suspects? Compile a list and interview those rejected in the last 12 months... May be issue getting list due to GDPR regulation...

I have been working on and around rivers for over 50yrs, this poor lady could quite easily have fallen into this river by kneeling or laying close to the edge, a bank collapse is very common on this type of river bank. Once in the water, she could easily create a further fall attempting to get out. There could be 1/2 to 1 ton of earth in a fall and the river bed would naturalize within 20mins. I feel sure sonar would be useless with this sort of event and a diver would have a huge dig on his hands. - no slip marks above and the dog stays put. Although it seems unlikely, depending on how she may have fell in, it’s possible to drown in very shallow water. She could have suffered a cardiac event from the shock of the cold water, hit her head, became immobilised in the cold water, or simply went under head first and naturally panicked causing drowning. It’s so strange though that her body wasn’t found in that stretch of calm water. The combination of the two unlikely events together, make it really suspicious! The abduction theory also seems unlikely, with the dog staying by the river? It’s such a mystery. Poor woman and her poor children and husband :(

Yes, I think you’re right that if she is a strong swimmer then she might have coped well with riding out any cold water shock until she could potentially pull herself out. If that was possible? But the strength of a swimmer wouldn’t affect how they would respond to a cardiac event like a dangerous arrhythmia leading to cardiac arrest for example. Even an arrhythmia just leading to her becoming unconscious, would obviously result in drowning too.

I don't think she fell in. If she did then she'd have been found by now. When we die in the water we float. Try it next time you're swimming. Lay on your back and relax. I think it's 3% of us that stays out of the water. If you're comfortable holding your breath try it on your front. You'll still float.
Even if our lungs fill with water then the gasses produced after death will make us float too.
It's the dog thing that puzzles me. If she was snatched then the perpetrator wouldn't want the hassle of the dog. So if the dog hasn't been found then she went willingly, taking the dog with her.
I think the police just didn't want a huge search so came up with the river thing. Now the forensics of whatever happened will have been degraded.
What did the police think everyone would say? "Oh! She's fallen into a shallow river that's more of a muddy ditch. Ok, let's just forget it then."
That's madness! Who are these fools in uniform. Their reaction was either out of laziness or stupidity & probably both!

Wasn't she from a different part of the country originally? Essex I seem to remember reading. Would it be worth looking into the possibility she has run back there and is in hiding? It may be a shot in the dark but given all other scenarios have come to nothing maybe worth looking into?🤔

It’s been said repeatedly, she had an extremely close knit relationship with her family, her parents. IMO if she’d been in trouble, she would have gone to family for support, not run away (and leave her two children feeling tortured and abandoned).

The incompetence of the police and their theory have more than likely cost Nicola her life 😰 she never went in that river she was taken and the incompetence is shameful . I feel so sorry for Nicola and her children and family. The area should of been sealed off immediately house searches immediately . All sex offenders raided immediately warrant or not, if someone is missing just raid them . Sex offenders shouldn't have a choice just go straight to them and search. They should of had sniffer dogs looking for her scent . They should of put the dogs at the gate and the path . The caravan site should of been searched straight away . Traffic police everywhere . It's not hard . Poor nicola.
