- Playing with casein, a milk-based paint that is much older than oil paint and is similar to gouache. It was fun, but challenging to paint the tiny details.
If you would like to learn more about casein, I published a Skillshare class about it, and I'm super excited to share it with you all.

Turned out so pretty.
Thank you Miranda.
Gorgeous painting and nice music to take a breather to. Thanks :)
Thank you very much!
Beautiful. I’ve never heard of casein. Thanks for the info. Very interesting.
Thanks for watching!
Even though it is a small format you did a great job with the details 😍
Thank you! 😊
It was nice to see you use these again. I still don't own any casein paints.
Thank you.
lovely painting 😀
never heard of this paint, but will pass on getting it due to the smell lol
it's a good smell and it's not a strong smell it's kind of pleasant majority of people like it but of course it's good for people to know there is a slight smell
That's right, not a chemical smell. Just a typical Casein paint smell, hehe! Not unpleasant as far as I'm concerned.
The only person I have ever seen using casein ( apart from you, now) and from whom I discovered it even existed is James Gurney. I don't even know where I would buy this.
It's a fun medium to play with, very similar to gouache. You can find it on Amazon, DickBlick or other art supplies stores.
Haha, I came here to say this. He's an amazing artist! Anyway, quite often he will use casein as the underpainting, then gouache on top.
