For all the people freaking out about this being raw, let me just leave this here: Sushi/sashimi Carpaccio Steak or tuna tartare Prosciutto Jamon Serrano Polędwica surowa Oysters on the half shell Caviar/fish roe Cold smoked fish, ie salmon Ceviche* These are all renowned delicacies that have one thing in common-they are all based on raw meat. And these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head because it’s what I personally eat quite regularly. Hell, I even take my steak rare and bloody, if you want to add that to the list 😂 *I know, arguably not raw as technically the seafood is cooked by the acids but it’s raw as in not heated.
Alright, I know this is late-but let me explain to young viewers here who had accidentally discovered this. As a veterinary student who studied about parasites. 1: Parasites cannot survive in an icy cold environment. They can only be found in warm and humid areas like tropical forests-which is a perfect breeding ground and a place for them to thrive. 2: Inuit people literally lived in cold environment, and fire are difficult to make. They do have cooked meat, but it is a rare feast. Fire took long time to ignite in a snow storm, and so Inuit have to eat raw meat in order to survive. Also, the meat in this Short is frozen; so the parasites are already dead by the time they ate it.
What about possible bacteria? Doesn’t freezing just deactivate but once it’s back to a certain temp they become active again? Freezing doesn’t kill bacteria so don’t they become active once in your stomach. I eat raw meat btw I’m just trying to learn.
I dont think it weird as I like medium rare. However I do have a question regarding prep. Do u just freeze it? N then Eat it? Or is it marinated then frozen? Or u guys cook with Ice? Sounds funny but its an honest question.
In the video could you talk about - how do you store these left overs? Is it ok to have it out and then re-freeze etc? Just curious about the practical side of these delicacies... Many thanks
I would love to be eating some of that. I used to eat raw moose in Alaska when we were preparing it to get smoked. Yum!! I eat raw beef still from time to time. In some ways, I like it better than cooked. Cooked meat is food. Raw meat is a treat.
Ummm I hope this isn’t rude but why do inuit people typically eat their traditional foods raw? Does it just taste better that way or is there another reason?
