Low-rise. I just switched from the 18th floor to the 2nd. Much better (and much easier to haul a dog and a toddler down the stairs when the fire alarm goes off because someone burned their dinner).

I understand that as a Japanese individual it's probably nice to have a view at Mt. Fuji but let me tell you this.
I bought a 5 room, 1 living room, 1 guest toilet, 1 normal toilet with bath and shower, 1 garage apartment with 3 grocery stores in a walking distance for 130.100$ in Germany with the view at Polish/Czech mountains, quiet neighborhood and free electricity if we ignore the 2000$ yearly fee for the upkeeping of the solar panels and the central battery system which supplies the whole house and if needed, I can quickly book a very cheap electricity from the city with a click of the button in the smart home app (which costs me in winter/low electricity production months around 60-90$ per month depending on the use).
It's not as premium as the penthouse in the video but you don't have to worry about loosing your job and not being able to pay the monthly rent.
I also own a 4 room, 1 bathroom and 1 parking spot apartment in Frankfurt Main which was actually my first property that I ever purchased and basically I took a credit for that house, paid in total 94.400.80$ (4.300,80$ for the credit / rest for the apartment) and I paid it off after 5 months and now I'm renting it to a group of students which already brought me over 40.000$ in profit.
In other words, if you are not as spoiled as 90% of the rich people are, it would be better to invest into apartments or houses, eventually rent them or keep them and then after 8-10 years just sell them with profit.
I don't need to tell you that this might be a better idea than spending your money on crypto, crypto mining, NFT or buying stocks from some developing companies.

Having the visa to stay there long-term is going to be a pretty decently high hurdle. You won't be able to even rent if you can't show you can stay in the country for an extended amount of time.
It's easier if you have plenty of money. They are allowed to discriminate against foreigners (there are reasons beyond simple racism - often citing language and worry that tenants will not have their visa renewed), and your ability to get a place is reduced simply because of that.

$12,000/month for this place seems insane to me idk.. I know the location plays a role and that Japanese homes are much different to American homes but I feel like even in an expensive place like LA or New York you can have way more for that amount. Seems more of an office/work space than a home to me. The toilets are sick though I will give them that 😂

Hmmmm I am sure you could make it cosy, but on top of the insane amount of money per month. You would need to pump out a lot of serious money to make it feel like "home"

How strong does an earthquake/typhoon feel at that height? I was once in Tokyo at the robot hotel floor 14 during a strong typhoon and the room was shaking like a plane under heavy turbulences. Horrific experience.

Mt. Fuji is almost 3,800m high. If you're high enough up in Tokyo facing West and there's no buildings blocking you, then on a clear day you can see it.
