Such a great video, It seemed like 30 seconds! Blue Lug looks amazing and love the footage you took, quality and consistent content!

Brooks saddles are for people who have a vintage bike to restore. I bought a cheap ripoff from Decathlon with springs 10 years ago, and it's super comfortable (even though it only cost 5$ then). The fake leather got ruined from sitting in the rain, but its still usable. I like old style roadster bicycles with an upright position, and Japan looks perfect for them with all the urban commuting you need to do, and need to look around more easily.

Gotcha!! Thanks for the help! They definitely look nice but I agree, wouldn't look right on my road bikes haha!

At those junctions, there are mirrors on the lamp posts angled at the roads. This ensures you can see who's coming out of a corner.

Yeah I saw that after producing the video. But it's much more common not to have those in most areas in my experience.

@@TheJapaneseCyclist yes. They need to add more. Same thing in my country. It's the worst when a large truck parks at a junction, covering the corner & the mirrors 😅

Very cool video, any reason why google maps are not preferred?

Thanks! I didn't use Google Maps because I have my cycling computer and my phone was in my bag the whole time.

Nice video! I am traveling to Japan for my first time in late August for 2 weeks… should I bring my bike? It looks like it will be hard to navigate in large cities with one. Should I just use the trains?

I'd say unless you really love your bike, it's not worth the trouble to travel with one. It would probably cost more than the trains too.
And you should probably stay away from driving/riding in a new country until you get at least a feeling of the way people drive (and in case you're not from the UK, Australia, Hong Kong... the side they drive). To me, that's a couple of days.

Agree with bobron9645! Unless you're there for a long period of time (at least six months) it's probably more of a hassle. If you really want to bike, you can rent in some cities as well! But definitely enjoyable just walking and using the trains! Thanks for watching!
