If this game had reached a broader audience, it would have been talked about everywhere. I'm one of the lucky ones that got to experience it from launch. If you find yourself still playing a game like this over a year after buying it.... you've got a gem. Can't wait to see what Housemarque does next!
Really hope as PS5s become more available, and maybe this game gets into PS Plus, that it will see a big resurgence in finding new players that know a masterpiece when they see one
Maybe Sony should have sold it at it's real price instead of the joke price the tried to flog it at, the Insomniac leaks have shown how badly this game has sold thanks to Jim Ryan.

You can't say enough about just how wonderful Returnal really is. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the story, the gameplay. Returnal is a 10/10 must experience.

This developer never disappoints with any of their games and especially Returnal it’s so different from anything I’ve played and is amazing all the way through
This game is amazing. Total Metroid and day after tomorrow vibes and the bosses blew my mind. So many hated on it because you had to “start over” every time but there were tons of shortcuts and even acts that permanently pushed you forward.
Playing Devil's Advocate here, the combat loop and the gameplay is fantastic, but the roguelite stuff could have been much better. So much in Returnal's artifacts, items and weapons is completely on luck. There's so little avenue for synergizing a build, and quite a few random negative effects that can immediately kill a run. The procedural generation as well leaves much to be wanted, despite the layouts being "different", it feels like a lot of rooms are the same between runs. The best comparison is Enter the Gungeon, another bullet hell roguelite that does the roguelite mechanics much better than Returnal.
Its also a very fulfilling platinum trophy. This trophy can be used to measure the mettle of a gamer. Others that also do this are the sekiro & demon's souls platinums as well.
This speed run is extremely skillful and still got hit in some difficult scenarios...So you can guess how many times normal player will fail in these levels...Just liike me😂
Finished the final biome yesterday morning. Working on permanent upgrades before taking on the Tower of Sisyphus soon. This is a title you come back to over time to test your skills. Extremely addictive, especially once you understand the gameplay loop

Best game I’ve ever played tbh. That melee weapon is so OP. You can kill those giant monster dudes not the bosses but the big monster dudes that show up in lockdowns with threee swipes of that
This game looks amazing, even while being played in a none flattering way. Hoping for a PC release, or maybe get a second hand PS5 in 5 years for $100 (assuming I'm still alive)
Returnal is basically a masterpiece. It's got some bugs here and there, but hot damn is every element of this game very thought-out and juicy. It's hard as hell, but in a way that's really satisfying. And the mysteries surrounding Selene unfold with horrific beauty. It's at once deeply familiar, and lovecraftian in a really superb way. Again, this game is hard af, so be warned, but it's also one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.
My 2021 GOTY and an absolute shining example of how a shooter that has both unconventional mechanics but still very polished gameplay and controls can be an amazing experience, and then on top of that it also has so much else going for it that makes it even better from the ambience to the effects.

Same, was crushing at the begginings, but turned out much easier later.
Mine too. Loved every minute of it, even finding the last xenogylyphs had moments of enjoyment.

You can tell both of the commentators are not happy to see the player running past everything they've worked so hard on (understandably)
what they don't realize is that speedrunners have the most number of playtime on their games and of course they played it normally for the first time.
