A watch housing the Seiko NH36 movement for £45? Sounds pretty good to me. Enter the Guanquin GJ16034 from Gearbest. Design-wise it’s pretty straight forward - nothing outstanding but it looks to be a nice, smart dress watch. Again, it’s only £45. Whilst it may not be the most in terms of money, is it still worth it? Let’s take a closer look.

I have the black version and the only quality issue I had was the strap itself which I replaced with a nice Italian calf item retaining the clasp which works well. The result is a watch that is reliable, accurate, elegant and a match for kickstarter offerings at many times the price.
I like this watch so much. The only disapointment was that the movement is not a Seiko but a Miyota. For this reason is no seconds hand hackable. Besides of that it is a great watch. As a matter of fact I see many things (including the Miyota movement) in common with the Timex Marlin automatic.

If that watch is 40mm I'm questing if you're converting your wrist measurement from metric correctly. Of course it's probably just the angles of the camera and how close it is, and also the shape of your wrist but your wrist almost looks smaller than mine using a 40mm watch as reference and I'm at a 6.60".

Water test to check for sapphire is useless. I tried it on all my watches. No noticable differences between swiss watch with Sapphire and cheap seiko with hardlex.

*NEW BUYERS BEWARE** I just ordered one of these and they definitely no longer come with a Seiko movement. It now comes with a Miyota movement. It's still a decent looking watch, but they're definitely now riding on the coattails of these early good reviews.
Thats a shame, I has just about to get one.
