In this video I’ll introduce you to a few of the most popular cinema prime lenses which are currently used on professional sets.
I’ll break down each lens set on two criteria, their ergonomics, how easy they are to practically work with, and their look. The two most important considerations (if you ignore rental price) when it comes to choosing which lens is right for the job.

Would love a part 2. K35s, Arri lenses, zoom lenses, more anamorphic
same
Give it to me, feed my eye
Also could you introduce large format lenses, s16 and more maybe? :)
Thx so much !!! I.ve been praying for sur a video for a long time
Def, K35s, Arri Signature Primes, Zeiss Master, Ultra, Supreme, & Compact Primes, Angenieux Optimo, Leica Summicron and Summilux-C series, Panavision Primos, Super Baltars...
Yes! 👍
Would love a part 2. Amazing work so far. Your channel is the shit
Same, it's very useful when studying cinematography. I very highly recommend this for my fellow aspiring filmmakers.
This was great Gray! would love to see a part 2!
Ooohh This is super insightful. As an aspiring filmmaker it is important to know that lenses play a huge part in making movies
Would love to see another of these that focuses exclusively on zoom lenses.
This is the kind of content I’m missing on CZcams! Please make this a long series!
Panavision C - Series will always be the best set of lenses!
I always love working with them and checking out the serial numbers. Often they'll be really low (like C50-5 or something) which means it's the 5th 50mm C-Series lens ever made. Would love to know where those lenses have been and what they've seen over the years.
No doubt. Instant nostalgia
Helpful as always! A channel like this where the creator actually knows what they're talking about AND states it straightforwardly and without pretense is a breath of fresh air. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for doing this! Would love to see part 2 of this video!
Owh man, as a 3D artist, you have no idea how badly I needed exactly that kind of information. You rule! Thank you!
Great stuff, as always. Would love to see part 2.
Awesome content mate. This was a very educational and insightful video not only about lenses, but the film industry as well. I'd love a second part to it. Thanks
Great video! Super useful! Looking forward to part two
Great video ! And great channel overall, love your work
Great video , can't wait to see the next part .
Amazing vids man, looking forward to part 2 👍

So happy i've found your channel! Superb!
Great video! I will wait for the part 2!
Good to see/hear. Bring on part 2 and 3.
You are the best teacher anyone could ask for. Thanks for all your hard work. 🙏👏
Wonderful video man, would love a part 2 of course!
This was so great! Keep it up! Would love to hear more about the lenses we all hope to use one day. Also, maybe it’s just because I’m a camera nerd, but I’d love to see a breakdown on focus pulling as well. Blows my mind how they did it so well back in the day.
Just wanted to say your videos are excellent and just keep getting better. Would love a part 2.
Part 2 please!!!! Great video as always
Part 2! Loved it thanks
Indie filmmaker who has been doing docs and short docs and the like for 10 years now. Mostly self taught so now that I've got my editing, shooting and other stuff down I'm learning more about lighting, lenses and technique. That being said I feel you have 1 of the best channels on the platform. Now a patron. Keep it up brother.
Please make part 2! This was great!!!
I want a part 2 and 3 - Hell I’ll take as many parts as you can give. I love this channel. Thank you for all the information you share.
Yes, a part 2 would be awesome! Also, I love your channel!
this is so interesting!! would love a part 2 :)
Great video. Bravo. Who wouldn't want a part 2?
Loved this! Looking forward to pt 2.
definitely a part 2 please!
Nice video looking forward to part two
This was excellent, would love to see a part 2!
“Color matched across the set“: Shows different shots from a movie that was shot entirely with one focal length.
I wondered if anyone would notice that haha.
But the colour reproduction of the S4s are actually very consistent across the range/different sets. Unlike some older lenses like the Cooke S3 Speed Panchros (which can have certain lenses be way warmer than others depending on which set you get).
@@InDepthCine I thought the same thing, plus all the various different styles and luts applied to the original footage that change the image in different ways and thought, hey, this is still good information. I wish you could've supplemented this with your own footage mixed in that was shot more neutral to show everyone that hasn't been as lucky as myself to have used all these lenses but the Panavision lenses. Also no mention of the cooke anamorphics?
Great work! Please make a part 2.
Amazing work! Thanks!
Part 2 definitely!
Amazing stuff, thank you!! We need so much more of this kind of thorough info about cinema lenses on youtube!
I would love to see this evaluation on Canon k35s, LOMOs and more modern Arri or Zeiss glass like Ultra Primes
Hell yeah lets see part 2!
Love your videos! Please make a part 2.
I would absolutely love a part 2, You do excelent work.

Great and infomative video, I'd love to see a part two.
Actually there are enough *real* cine lenses out there that you could consider making a series.
Very helpful! Thank you
Very helpful! Please do more when possible.
Part 2 would be helpful... And also never stop making these videos 🙏🙏
Great video!!!
Definitely would love a part 2
Yes, we would love a part 2!
Definitely make a part 2! I’m interested in the K35s and the new signature primes.
thank you very much I will watch the next Part. it was very interesting
Great info, thx for sharing :D
Great video! I was actually kinda suprised that ARRI Ultra, Master and Signature Primes seem to not play a huge role in cinema filmmaking. Would love to see a part two one day!
Would love to see a part 2 :))
Sharegrid's massive cinema lens test is an amazing resource! They test each lens at different focal lengths and stops all running the same camera movements with the same model.
Everybody is hopping for a part 2 I see. I am not exception.
So cool! Part 2 please!
This was so much more enjoyable than the standard CZcams lens review it’s actually insane. It’s as if people forgot lenses are used to make movies not measuring breathing and distortion in boring control tests. Show me movies!
Definitely do a part 2! Cooke Xtal Express, Leica, Lomo, K35, etc.
Absolute need a part 2
This is very informative, Part 2 is most welcome.
Thanks :) Sigma, Fujinon and Leitz coverage would be interesting, as well as the difference or role of Sirui anamorphics and other indie-affordable options.
this is soooo good pls def have a part2 different versions of ARRI lenses and also cheap cine lenses would be awesome tks
Mate you hit the ball out the park. So click bait yet you delivered on the goods ☺️ Please do a part 2
Amazing video. Thanks
This was great! Would love a video on focal length selection as well...
I really dig your channel, man.
One of the best channels on CZcams
yes! part 2 please
