Before you comment ... please consider, that I was not sponsored and did not receive any instruction or education on the product from Dyson. I also didn't want my review to be influenced by what I saw others do, so I did not watch any videos or tutorials, I simply performed a real-world test like I believe most would do. Also, please know that I tested in on dry, damp and wet hair, so please watch the entire video. xo's

I think not watching a bunch of reviews or instructional videos is a good test to see how intuitive / user friendly a product is. Some people are used to some curling irons having the same results even if you start curling hair from the ends or the middle. If it takes too many steps (like switching things on/off or hot/cool) or a lot of preparation (dampening hair) to make something work then it makes sense that people might get frustrated when using it. The learning curve is real.

From what I’ve seen of stylists trying out the product, there is a rather large learning curve. It’s one of those products that takes getting used to and figuring out what works for your hair length. I personally wouldn’t spend that much considering I can do the same thing with a quick blow out and then 20 minutes with a curling wand. But the technology is awesome and maybe the design can be improved on and made more user friendly.

Hi Tati! I just got finished using mine for the third time & I really like it but there is a learning curve for sure! I have very curly long Hair that takes about an hour to round brush? blow-dry with my regular dryer. This just look me 45 min with the Dyson & I'm hopeful I will get faster in time. A few tips to try. First section your hair while it's damp so random pieces are not being sucked onto the barrel. Also you can use the med temp if the hot is to hot on your scalp. Of course always use a cool shot to lock in the curl & finally and most importantly turn off the dryer before releasing each curl. My curls hold for days, maybe even a little to much think of the mom on the Goldbergs show. LOL! Give it a few more tries, I think you'll find it worth the effort. XO

I have super thick hair that is about an inch longer than shoulder length. This product actually worked so well for me! I was able to dry and curl my hair within half an hour when it typically takes me 1.5hrs! I think this really goes to show that while a product might not be well liked by one person it might work well for another. There’s no reason for anyone to get up in arms about it. I appreciate your honest and unsponsored review! I’ve used mine twice now and I have felt the same level of frustration. I like that there is less heat damage on your hair with the Dyson but it takes too much time to finish the hairstyle for all the reasons and demo’s you shared in this video. I am going to play around with it some more and see if I can reach a place like I did with the Dyson blow drier (where I LOVE it). Thanks again for your review and thoughts! I love your channel 💕!

Everyone likes to talk to Tati and treat Tati like she has never done anything in her life. Hair, makeup, anything. She said why she didn't watch the videos about it, she explained her problems with it, but didn't say the product was bad, and even tried it on multiple people. She even praised Dyson. You all want Tati's first impression, not her to spend 5 hours learning how to use the product. If what she was normally doing, the way she normally sections her hair, works for her all the time, why should SHE have to change HER routine to make a product work? The point is to make the consumer's life easier, not harder, and for $550, it shouldn't take watching a specific video or a completely new routine.

As I a hairstylist I would just like to give a few pointers for this tool and curling hair in general. Start fr the bottom and keep sections neat. Use a clip and only drop about a 2 inch thick row of hair at a time. Each curl should be within the length of the barrel. The best instruction for the tool is to heat until dry, also don’t move the tool back in forth just hold it still, blast with cold air for 5 seconds and then turn the device off to release the curl. Also DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CURLS UNTIL YOU ARE COMPLETELY DONE. The more you touch them right away the more they will fall. Hope this helps you and anyone else trying this device (or just curls in general) good luck! Lots of love for all your videos ❀❀

Yes $550 sounds like a lot of money but its a dryer, curler and a straightener. I guess it depends on people's preferences, I like mine to have loose curls and it takes time to get used to it but once I got used to it, it saves so much time. Not getting my hand or face burnt from the normal hot curling wand or a straightener is also a plus. And it doesn't make my hair having a burnt smell or doesn't make my hair crispy. The airwrap left my hair soft, shiny, and with the curl that I've always wanted but never got to achieve before getting this Dyson Airwrap. Plus hair looks healthy and natural too.

It shouldn't be so difficult, and as a stylist and a huge fan of the Dyson blow dryer, I was super excited about but after watching many reviews I've decided it's pretty obvious it's not worth it. Even the 'successful' reviews haven't been that cute. Tati did fine with trying out it's just too complicated for 550$. The other attachments interest me though....

Jessica Walker - I don’t think anyone is “defending” the brand when they complain about Tati’s testing done incorrectly. I love her, and I agree a tool shouldn’t be so hard to use especially for such high price, but at least whoever is testing it should read and follow the instructions. She tried the tool twice, and each time wasn’t done correctly.
You are a hair stylist, tell me something, when was last time you saw someone not putting up their hair and separating in sections when blowdrying, curling or straightening hair?? I have never seen that. No one would do that, not even with a regular tool. You can’t expect your hair not getting caught up in a suction tool when it’s all down.
It’s cutting edge NEW technology. Yes, anyone should read and follow the instructions. 2 minutes at theDyson website is all it would take. Any consumer would have done that, especially if you are buying a never-seen before tool for $550. I appreciate she is trying to give an honest review from a consumer point of view, but a consumer would have read the instructions and try to follow them. Also, she is a reviewer and people would want to watch her videos to find out more about the product.
This video was very hard to watch and criticism should be expected.

I for example hate working with a curling iron, I curl my hair with my straightener which IN MY CASE lasts longer and makes bigger and wavier curls in stead of small ones which fits me better. But my best friend makes amazing curls with a curling iron. For some people this Airwrap is the invention of the year, for others it doesn't work as well.. Lisa Mefford that’s a good point. I even thought, if there was a new eye lash invention - curls your lashes and coats with mascara all in one! - you wouldn’t just try it. You would research it. You would make sure you give it the best attempt. In my opinion she used it more like a blow dryer - in the skill she applied - and not sectioning hair or holding the curl. Going to the end of the piece of hair, not the middle. Which is fine. But that’s an easy fix if you watch an instruction video... which is different then a review

Art Lover but she literally didn't use it correctly. You can have a cheap pen, try to write using the wrong end and it's not gonna work. It's not about the price making it "user friendly." it's innovative technolgy. Use it correctly and it'll work. Simple as that.

Omg. I don’t normally comment on CZcams videos or watch them that much but I felt like I needed to learn how the dyson airwrap works - and your thoughts were so spot on. I wanted this to work for me so badly - but in fact it was too time consuming for some volume & uneven waves -
Your struggle with this ( the funny parts ) validates mine

I have a lot of hair, about medium thickness and length with natural wave. I ordered the Dyson Airwrap the day it came out, and the curling iron functions leave me with INSANE amounts of volume with curls that will not move, even when I finger brush them out. The firm smoothing brush is my favorite attachment - what used to take me 45 minutes to do, now takes 15 minutes from towel-dried to out of the door. It’s so so good for my hair length and texture. From what I have seen of women with very long hair, this is not a great fit, so keep that in mind.
