- I’ve been challenged by The National Lottery to take on some of the Winter Sports that National Lottery players help fund, by trying out a training session with snowboarder Matthew McCormick at Bearsden Snowsports Centre. Ash is amazing. You should try this on real snow. It hurts less when you fall.
As a Canadian from the Rockies the fear I feel at that hard ground and carpet burn is visceral 🙈 that looked so painful, well done all! And embarrassing yourself on a lift is a rite of passage, everyone eats snow their first time on one
The last two times I went skiing I only fell on the anchor lifts, haha
Everyone has one of these stories. Haha mine was on t-bar, got caught watching some jumping and went straight to a snow fence……. 🤦♀️
Ash is superhuman I swear. So good at everything. Meanwhile, snowboarding is just epic. Living in New Zealand, I should have tried this years ago 😂
You guys have to try the ‘Snow Centre’ in Hemel Hempstead it’s a huge indoor ski/snow boarding centre which uses real snow inside!!
I think they've got Chill* Factor -e or whatever it's called in Manchester near the Trafford Centre as well, might be a bit closer to Leeds
There’s also the xscape indoor ski place in castleford, it’s literally right outside of Leeds we used to go all the time, it’s fab 👍🏻
Which slope are they at? I do dryslope slalom ski racing and I’m 13
Yes boys, massive respect to snowboarders. Definitely harder than it looks, unless you've done it since a child. It's tough to start as an adult.

It is amazing that you three guys are so athletic and well rounded that you struggle with these other sports. It is a testament to each discipline.
That being said, the quickness in which you pick up these other sports is a testament to your discipline.

Well I tell you a secret: Manority of people don't just start a sport and are able to do it lol. It takes practice and perseverance but it's about finding one that you could actualky ENJOY

I grew up in a ski/snowboard nation, I'm really bad at it, but still had to ski or snowboard since my first year at elementary school! Can't imagine trying it the first time in my 20s!
As a Canadian snowboarder, all I can think is "WHERE ARE THEY?! WHAT IS THIS?!" haha but seriously good effort guys!

I don't snowboard, but I've skied my whole life and this made me laugh VERY hard. I'm very grateful to be able to ski outside on real snow but its awesome to see that this is an option for areas that don't get snow!

Ellis is going to be the fittest one eventually. Having to lug camera equipment up hills like that is no joke! lol! (300 miles of hiking sheep fields across England & Wales in 21 days with a 25lb pack, most of which was camera equipment - fittest I've ever been in my life, lol)

1:55 yeah I was looking at that like you're not for real snowboarding on that :D I'm from the Nordic region though so just used to loads of snow. It's great you have a way of trying it out over there as well!
Honestly feels nice to know there's one physical thing I can do better than you guys :'D But then again I've been downhill skiing since 3 yrs old and started snowboarding at 12.

I learned to ski in 2020, took one lesson and hit the slopes at mount bachelor for a school trip the following week and it was definitely an adventure. Fell down but learned to ski better. Especially in crappy conditions. Now I’m getting more comfortable doing jumps even thought the skis and ski boots are a lot heavier than a snowboard lol. I had 3 accidents yesterday up at timberline but I fought myself and my quads are on fire! But I went down my first blues instead of doing greens which are now boring to me 😂

1. Pommel lifts suck - they are a torture device constructed in hell - no I don't have opinions... 2. On the upside when you fall on the track stuff you don't get snow down your shirt and trousers 3. No 'carpet' burn you get from the track hurts as bad as ice burns 4. Well done!!!! - greetings from Colorado :-)

I really would like it for you to try skiing like Dave riding. I do dry-slope slalom across the country but my home slope is Chatham ski and snowboard centre. I train with a club called Bromley race club though

I went to a dry slope for skiing in school and loved it. I really want to go the place in Manchester that has the real snow.
There is also Hemel Hempstead. Might be closer the “the fridge” depending on where you live

I’m guessing using snow machines wouldn’t work there- that ground looks ruff. Snow can pack hard but still better than burns from sliding on that. Give u guys credit.
