    I wish all Dr.s and hospitals required watching your videos! I am getting a total hip replacement in 5 weeks and started looking for prehab videos. You are both entertaining and extremely helpful. Thank you so much

    I had my first hip replacement January 16th and did a LOT of prep, from buying a commode to doing exercises. The hospital gave me virtually no instructions on hip precautions and I learned 90% of my routine from CZcams. I'm healed well and am going for the second hip on April 11th. This time I will be sure to use some sort of leg lift because those first few times out of bed were SCARY. Thanks to these great docs for their sound advice.

      Why did you have to "buy" a "commode?" you didn't have a toilet in the house? or you had to BUY A NEW one? I hope you see this because I'm stumped

    • @lisadelano
      @lisadelano Před rokem +2

      @@Discerning_Viewer because some commodes sit too low to the floor to make it easy to get up from. I had a taller commode but still choose to get a elevated toilet seat which also had arms on it that helped tremendously.

    Thanks for the video. I'm about to have hip replacement surgery and was told they would show me in the hospital how to get in and out of bed. They have asked me to show them when I come in where my bed comes to on the side of my body and I have been doing pre-op exercises for awhile because I had to wait for the hospitals to re-open after covid and I lost 20 pounds. Your video was extremely helpful especially the part about using the cane. I do something like this now because my bad hip/leg makes it necessary to give it a little help, but this video shows me something concrete that really works. They should be showing you this in PT if you are going prior to the operation. Good job and thanks.

    It not only hurts to get your leg on and off the bed, the thigh muscles where they attach around the knee are too weak to lift your leg. It takes a week or two to get enough strength back to lift your leg. The leg lifter/cane work very well, a lot better than using your opposite leg, especially at first when you're very sore.

    I came across your site today. Thank you for the great information. Earlier this year I had bilateral partial knee replacements, right knee in March and left in June. So far, neither has healed well, still have high levels of pain, reduced range of motion and both unstable. I am a disabled veteran and was working as an EMS helicopter pilot prior to surgery. In September, I was referred to a different surgical group and after exams, X-rays and CT, it has been determined that both need total replacements due to misalignments and extensive arthritic damage through the rest of the joint. I wish I would have found your site prior to the first as I may have recovered better. The right knee is scheduled for January and the left after they are satisfied with recovery. Thank you again for the great information that your provide.

    I will have a total left knee replacement in 2 weeks. I was cognizant about the importance of pre-hab from your videos and made sure I got a doctor order to do it when I went to the pre-op appointment.
    I called P.T. (U.S.), and they informed me there were no openings until the day AFTER my surgery.
    Per the surgeons instructions, I made an appointment for 2 days post-op and wanted to make future 3x/week appointments but was not allowed to. The receptionist said, "Once you have the initial evaluation, you can schedule future appointments." By then they'll be filled up a month ahead, and I won't get any pre - or post-op P.T.! I AM SO FRUSTRATED!

    Great videos. I did practice pre op with my cane and a long towel which was good but wow much more tricky immediately after my knee surgery, it was severe pain because my quad muscle kept trying to engage. So I lifted it very high up and straight up. The his worked for me . Just find your angle and having a strong core certainly helps. 😃 5 days post op. Ohh also I lifted weights while seated. Upper body strength makes getting my n and out of bed and using walked much easier.

I'm sure you're going to say it's the same technique, however, it's extremely difficult and I find I'm close to 90 degrees to get enough push to stand-up. Are there any keys to avoid bending past 90 in this situation?
