Typically, the mother would be the source of who is listed as the father on the birth certificate. Kudos to Debbie for being such a forthright person!
Long story, ready? My mother was married to him, obviously had a night out. When she became pregnant probably assumed it was her husband’s aka my father. He supposedly was a violent drunk so my grandparents shipped her (and me) to California so he couldn’t hurt us. Guess my mom assumed her husband was the father. A little dark, sorry, you asked. But it’s Al worked out, I have two amazing children, an unbelievable friend group and a great life.
