As a person who has been using English for some 40 years, I know these differences pretty well, but I could even "learn" the alphabet when Lucy explains it due to her charming voice, pleasing demeanour, and pretty face. :-)
As an American English-language teacher, I love to show my appreciation to you. You saved my life and my students love your videos and happy they at last they learning!

I love so much that she also compares pronunciation with that of the American English.
Great lesson Lucy! As a native French speaker, all those words make sense, since we pronounce them differently in French. Yet, it will help me teach English to my native German students :)

Yes !
Every part of your video is a lesson .
From the start of the video to the main lesson ,helps improve the accent by listening.
I just LOVE her voice and her enunciation of the language. Thank you Lucy. I am hoping to pronounce the words correctly though I sadly will never sound like you. Ypur voice is from the heavens.
Your
Superb and clearly explained madam, your way of prononciation was amazing mam.
This is a great lesson! These words can be very confusing and difficult to explain but you did it brilliantly.
YES!!! This is SOOOOOOO NEEDED!
I see so many people use the wrong spellings/words and it drives me around the bend.
Even I got something out of this cos I get confused when it comes to inquire/enquire.
Thank you Lucy!
Valuable lessons for someone who want to improve his or her english knowledge
Yehhh
.. indeed...
can t agree more.
What makes it especially confusing is that lose is pronounced with a longer sounding o than loose
A very large percentage of British people cannot spell those words correctly for the reason you mention. They write "loose" when they should write "lose", as Lucy mentioned.
Actually, the long 'o' in "lose" causes the 's' to become voiced, as 'z'; whereas, the long "oo" sound in "loose" preserves the unvoiced 's' sound. Orthography in English is nasty, but not horrid.
@@argonwheatbelly637 Also lose Has a deeper sound in the o
@@MuhammadAsif-ek6ep : No, today both use the long "oo" sound, as in "pool". It's whether or not it's an 's' or a 'z' sound.
For someone like me, who actually Malaysian,..this is very much appreciated English lessons from you Lucy. Thanks.
You’re definitely unique in every way ,and listening to you is music to the ears !!!
Stop confusing words ! Especially the word "specially" 😂
Now im confuse,,🤭
Thanks dear ma'am
Lmao 😂
Oh hahahaXD
The narrator did her good job, now give a big thumbs up...
You really make things much more understandable and less confusing because your vocal and comprehensive explanation is just superb... I don't find any difficulty following your lessons though I'm second language speaker (I mean English is not my first tongue).. And more frankly I find that nowadays generations in UK tends to show off and make it even harder to the second tongue speakers.. It's a bit annoying but due to geopolitics and it is not a general rule anyway, I find you very informative and tolerant, so thank you, you made me like the UK English language.
I use “inquire” frequently at work because my coworkers use it. And I’m in charge of Indian customer. Indian people definitely use “enquire” to ask something. I wondered what the difference and thought this may be the difference in British and American English. Now I’m really happy to understand this pair!😊
This confusing vocabulary series helps a lot! I really enjoy them. Thanks Lucy!

I love your explanation, Lucy. It's easy to understand!
These words are confusing indeed, each one teaches one. Thank you Lucy
Most British people don't know the difference between "inquire" and "enquire". It's difficult to expect people from other countries to know the difference!
Thanks Lucy! I often get confuse in these words but this video helped me...

You are a luminary here in Kenya and the best English-teacher on CZcams. And the accent, God it's angelic...your beauty:is heavenly. Amazing work you do. I can't afford to miss any of your videos. Always on point.👌
You didn't include "off & of".
The lecture is very nice and so educative.
Why do Americans say 'off of' instead of just 'off'?
The similarity of these words reminds me why my relationship with English is so complicated...
Whenever i watch your lessons, i just lost myself... Your lessons in a word splendid..... I fond of both you and your lessons....
Loved this lesson.Thank you Lucy!

i am confused too.

Don't apologize, please. I believe you say both, don't you ? British people are known to be the epitome of politeness and aloofness, but in fact, you Americans are not bad at it, either. I think it's both cultural and favored by the English language itself.
well english is my 2nd language & i find it even easier than my native language (Arabic)
