    Nancy was paranoid that Henry her husband would abandon her because he left his verbally abusive mom (Go listen to Rotary Dial) so she thought he would leave her too, (she dosen't know the mom is bad), Henry done with Nancy being paranoid tried to live at night but Nancy discovered and murdered him, she dosen't want to admit she did it, and ends up killing herself

    From what I've heard, the lore goes like this:
    Frances Elsner is Henry's mother. She comes from a very rich family, but she was a troublemaker. She has achromatopsia (she doesn't see colors) In fact, she only sees black, white, and shades of grey. At 19, she met a guy who went by Junior, and after some time, she got pregnant. After telling the news to Junior, he quickly left her without a warning, and she decided to avoid her friends, starting her life as a mother, but she was abusive towards her son Henry in many ways and sometimes she would even smoke directly in his arms just because she hated him. When Henry grows up, he meets a girl named Nancy and becomes her friend, Nancy has synesthesia (She sees colors in sounds. Basically, she hears colors) and Henry gets fascinated with this ability of hers. When they grow up, they decide to marry and move to Chicago away from Frances. Henry gets a job as a journalist, and Nancy stays at home sewing because that's her favorite hobby. Eventually, they get a lot of calls from Frances, and since Nancy is the one that stays at home, most of the time, she is the first to answer. Frances says that she wants to fix their relationships, and Nancy thinks she sounds genuine, so she talks to Henry about it, and they keep talking to Frances through the phone. But once Frances got both of their trust, she tried to ruin their marriage, she tells Nancy that Henry wanted to break up with her because she is so dependent on him and then she tells Henry that Nancy was scared of the idea of him leaving her one day and that if he tries to leave she is going to kill him. After some time, they talk to each other about what Frances said, and after finding the truth about what she said, they cut ties with her and asked her to leave them alone. But literally, any neighbors could hear the family drama, so here is this character named Ray Barnett who lives in the neighborhood. One night, Henry wakes up from a nigthmare, and he leaves the bedroom without waking up Nancy. He goes to the kitchen, and suddenly, he feels arms around his neck. Once his dead, Ray takes him to the basement and brings Nancy's radio to the crime scene. When Nancy wakes up, she listens to Henry's color (black and white) in the basement, so she goes there only to find Henry's body. She calls the police and tells Frances about the situation, but Frances, instead of worrying about her son she manipulates Nancy telling her that she did it because that's what she had told her before (When she told Henry that Nancy was going to kill him if he tried to leave) because of this, Nancy goes crazy and tries to forget the fact that her husband died. The police couldn't find the culprit, and Ray moved somewhere else to avoid the police. As time goes by, Nancy keeps believing that her husband is alive because she hears his colors on the radio, but then she decides it's time to face reality when the radio starts to show other colors instead of black and white as usual. Since she can't cope with Henry's death, she hangs herself up in the basement where Henry is found dead and leaves a note to the police explaining that she killed herself because she genuinely thought he was alive.
    If I'm not wrong, there's a character like Ray in all the cases (Communcations was supposed to be a series of 4 cases and this case is number 1) in case two there's one character named Evelyn who provokes the death of another character and in case 3 there's a character named Nathan too. The name of these characters is [SPOILERS]. Yes, their name is literally [SPOILERS]. There's a theory that says that [SPOILERS] is actually GHOST, and that's the reason why nothing happens to [SPOILERS] in any of the cases. Is almost like they don't exist in the communications world. Ray killed Henry in case 1, but in their world. Henry tried to leave Nancy, and he left a message on the table, but when Nancy read it, she got mad and killed Henry when she found him. Then, since she can't live with the guilt, she commits suicide.
    Correct me if I'm wrong, tho
    (Damn, that's the longest comment I've ever made)

  • @joulskafilms8815
    @joulskafilms8815 Před 2 lety +559

    I heard another theory that Nancy’s husband was involved in one of the world wars and he was heard over the radio, supposedly in the mornings (“7am is when the station plays its sound”) and he was killed or he was lost somehow during that time while Nancy stayed home.
    She heard him over the radio and missed him everyday, and when the radio started “playing in black and white” it was representing the cold truth that Henry is dead (maybe his voice was spoke over the radio to honor his death) and the radio doesn’t “speak in colors”, or what Nancy wishes she could see or hear; she wants to continue believing her husband is alive.
    Through all this she copes by making him suits which is why the theme of sewing comes up all the time. I also think that her using her arms as a pincushion and tying her fingers with thread is a form of the sewing harming her, because she can’t grip reality and the fact her lover is gone.
    I also think the synesthesia aspect is really cool, I’ve never heard that before 👀 I met someone who has synesthesia, and they say that after some time when you know someone well you can tell which color is theirs so to speak. I think the theme of synesthesia ties in really well with “wanting to see the colors”

    nancy killed her husband because he tried to leave her because she was waaayyy too dependent, and controlling like his mother. she thought she heard his voice in the radio but then she realized that she only hears radio as black and white. in black and white, the song with her husband singing (dex is the vocals) it explains her killing him and why he left. and in the song rotary dial, henrys mother (as diana) gives her back story and it explains how she was (controlling, fear of abandonment etc). as a somewhat og ghost fan, im excited to hear and see you react to more of ghost's stuff and ive hyperfixated on their stuff for so long so i know most of the lore

    Hell yes! You reacted to one of my fav GHOST songs!!
    Edit for clarification: Nancy killed her husband Henry because he attempted to leave her. He saw that she was overly attached and dependent, and it reminded him of his abusive and manipulative mother, so he tried to leave in the middle of the night. Nancy woke up, saw him about to leave with a note on the dining table that explained why, and snapped. She killed him out of fear of him leaving her. Afterwards, she hid his body in their basement and went crazy, repressing the memory of her husband's death- that's when Housewife Radio takes place as she slowly comes to the realization of what she'd done. She writes a note for the police to find explaining what she'd done, then hanged herself in the very same basement her husband's corpse was in. Sorry for the long comment, I just really like this story and am stoked to finally get a chance to talk about it!

    • @Izzy-IDK132
      @Izzy-IDK132 Před rokem +9

      where did you find out she killed him? most of the theories I've been seeing inside of the comments section of that video is that he was in WWII and he died. because of the condition that she has she didn't notice that he wasn't the one that was talking and didn't believe the people who had told her that her husband has passed on. she had been sewing clothes for him for so long that as soon as she realized that he was actually dead she couldn't bear looking at her house any longer because it reminded her of her dead husband and she killed herself.
      EDIT: BTW I'm not saying this to be rude I'm just asking because I've never heard that theory before.

    • @noname9482
      @noname9482 Před rokem +15

      TL;DR GHOST confirmed this to be the story through a Google doc. I don't have the link, but if you go to the original Housewife Radio video, you'll most likely be able to find the story in the comments.
      All of this was confirmed by GHOST themself to be an individual story in a series of songs called Communications... that was later cancelled because, iirc, it wasn't thought out enough and was just a jumble of ideas. I read most of the in-depth stuff on a Google doc GHOST had up on the individual stories, but idk if it's still up and I don't have the link.
      Also, you're not being rude at all :)

    In the original version of housewife radio(which was deleted, but reuploaded), Nancy is seen hold a doll. So it made a theory that nancy tried to sew Henry back together. Or something. I say theory because I dunno if it was confirmed.
    Anyway, Henry’s mom, Frances(Can be seen in Rotary Dial) would abuse Henry. Tell him stuff like “I wish you were dead” and harass him over the phone I think. She just mentally and emotionally abused him. Henry fell in love with Nancy, and when Frances heard about their marriage, Henry cut her out of his life. Nancy has abandonment issues or something and fears that Henry will also leave her too, so she goes insane. Henry did try to leave her but she kills him by slicing his throat. Nancy doesn’t believe she killed him because of her chromesthesia she heard the same colors Henry made though the radio, but when she does find out she killed him she ends up un-aliving herself.
    This is Case 1 of the discontinued series “COMMUNICATIONS” by GHOST. Also *all this stuff is what I’ve gathered from research I did on the internet, I wanna be corrected of any of this is wrong lololololol*

The only producer I know that does this is Kanaria, but the contrary (In his song Identity, someone commented that he took Gumi's English voicebank to make her sing in Japanese). The vocaloids I know of that have an English voicebank are

    -Hatsune Miku
    -Kagamine Rin/Len

    hey
    alot of people get the lore wrong, so here’s the official lore ( at least I think it is )
    the first character we meet is henry elsner, he has a HORRIBLE mother named frances
    she’s physically and mentally abusive, and would shove her lit cigarettes onto his skin.
    he dealt with this for years, until he met nancy, a girl with synthesisa, a thing that mixes the senses, in her case, she can see sounds as colors, and she was made fun of for this. henry thought it was cool, they quickly become great friends, frances hates this. she tries to take henry out of school, but it doesn’t work cus that’s illegal. henry and nancy start dating even if they don’t like eachother romantically, when they graduate highschool, they get married and move away to get away from frances, nancy takes up sewing and listens to the colors of her radio while she sews, and henry gets a job with typewriters, most of their neighbors are nice..except for ray, who smokes and reminds henry of his mother, henry also has nightmares everynight because of his trauma, one more thing is wrong in their life..frances keeps calling, one day she calls while henry is at work, when nancy picks up the phone. frances says something like “I apologize for all I’ve done, I want to bond with you.” and when and when henry finally picks up the phone, she says the same. then, frances lies to them about eachother. saying nancy is cheating on him and using him for money, and that henry is still in the marriage cause he feels sorry for nancy, but the elsners talk it out and figure out shes lying, so they swear to never answer the phone ever again. but then.. their neighbor ray starts stalking them. figuring out their habits
    how henry wakes up every night and how nancy loves her radios.. he breaks in and gets a kitchen knife, and waits for henry to wake up and come to the kitchen, and when he does, ray kills henry and drags him to the basement, leaving only one sign that nancy didnt kill him, when nancy wakes up…she realizes henry isnt next to her. she searches the entire house, and then finds him in the basement, she immediately calls the police, and she’s the main suspect, but is proved innocent by the smell of cigarettes. then…frances comes back, and leaves an anonymous tip to the police that nancy is guilty, and she’s back to being guilty, but then she tells the police what happened with frances, and shes back to being innocent. she moves in with her friend in another state to get away from the murder, but it follows her everywhere, through the news, and even through her beloved radio, she starts to go crazy, and gaslit herself into thinking she actually killed henry
    and then went to her friends basement, and hung herself.
    the end.
    sorry if I got anything wrong, or missed a part

    Finally a Ghost song! All their songs are really good, I recommend listening to the others! While not my first Ghost song, Housewife Radio is one of my favorite songs by them so it’s awesome seeing you react to it!
    I recommend listening to Honey I’m Home, The Distortionist or Colorbars from Ghost too! I noticed you listen a lot to mainly female Vocaloid singers so I say broaden that horizon with one of these male Vocaloid songs!

      They’re directly part of the same series (Communications). The third song for this story is Rotary Dial. There’s also a second part of a different story, with the songs being Colorbars and Broadcast Illusion (however BI is just a Colorbars remake, not a different perspective). Unfortunately the series was canceled years back because GHOST felt that they weren’t portraying the subject matter respectfully.

    this is a theory that i saw from reading the comments of the song and it states that this took place during a war and the husband was out to war and the radio tells what happens. so me being a student who is going to take history GCSE i made the assumption that this takes place around the vietnam war (it was widely televised) or ww2 (the clothing), i came to the conclusion it was the vietnam war due to the references to being widely televised. So with this in mind the first reference i thought was important was at the begining where she sings 'you're alive' which will be important later. the chorus constantly references to the fact that she is being informed about what happens, the reference to colours (this is my opinion) references to the connotations behind them and this is widely seen in the black and white part. The voice speaking to nancy through the radio is just someone informing her that her husband is alive, so in the second verse she makes clothes for him waiting for him to try them. The final part is all my personal interpretations on the connotations behind colours; fisrt is black and white - black isn't seen as a colour due to the absence of light therefore it often represents death as light can represent life, the white part can represent light or even hope or my personal opinion is to walk into the light which represents death, both represent connotations of death. the other colours represents different things yellow would be happiness, blue would be calm or sanity, red would be passion or love, green would be life; and another interesting point is that she 'hears' colours but now she 'sees' them that could mean that she doesn't see the colours within herself as she heard her husband dying drawing herself closer to suicide.
    this is all my personal interpretation from someone elses theory and also my english and history teacher would be proud

  • @maximumprimee
    @maximumprimee Před 2 lety +1

    ok I'm gonna explain it if how I and many more see the story bc I really really want to and also this includes context to the other songs in the series aswell soo if you wanna like figure the whole thing out for urself you can do that
    Nancy and Henry were childhood friends in the 1950s or 1970s one of those I'm pretty sure. Henry had found Nancy's condition interesting and stuck around with her. Henry's dad had left him and his mother, Frances. This emotionally damages Frances and she takes it out on her son saying things like, "Nobody cares for you!" but also says "You won't leave me right". Henry and Nancy end up falling in love with each other and Henry decides to run away from his mother leaving her alone to be with Nancy when they are older. Nancy became paranoid of Henry leaving her alone just like he did with his mother so she constantly asks him "Are you gonna leave me?" "Do you love me?" Or "You won't ever leave me like you did with your mother, right?". Henry eventually decides to leave her because she reminds him too much of his mother. He packs up a suitcase secretly and when Nancy is asleep he gets the suitcase and tries to leave. Nancy however woke up due to the absence of her husband next to her in bed and catches him trying to leave. Nancy got so distraught that she pulled a knife out of the drawer charges at him and stabs him in the neck/slits his throat.
    Nancy soon realizes what she has done and said events carry on. She thinks her husband is alive ignoring the fact she killed him bc she hears his voice/colors in the radio soon realizes he's dead kills herself bc of it blah blah blah.
    I probably missed some stuff and got some stuff wrong but yea this is how it went down 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

    Please don't react to the other videos, they are apart of a series called COMMUNICATIONS that Ghost has been very vocal about indefinitely abandoning it and no longer wants to associate themselves with it, as they have very harmful stigmatization when it comes to certain mental health problems (ie, Nancy's abandonment issues, Kenneth's struggle with suicidal ideations, etc.) So I would suggest we respect the artist's wishes and not touch upon the COMMUNICATIONS series.
