    I've always been highly intrigued by dart frogs. I still need to learn more before I get into owning some myself.

    If I remember right (someone correct me if I'm wrong) wild dart frogs will lay unfertile eggs in a pool of water with the tadpoles in order to provide the tadpoles with a source of food. I don't know about in your setups if this is what is going on, but it is a possibility.

    I'm not sure if you were referring to the gel around when you said "clear eggs", but that's completely normal. The eggs going bad likely isn't a fertilization issue though, probably not enough vitamin A. Try dusting with it twice a month, that should fix it.

    • @MikeTytula
      @MikeTytula  Před 7 lety

      No there are just clear egg sac with no middle, which would likely be fertilization, I dust Vit A once a week, so that shouldn't be the issue either.

    Lower the humidity a little bit for a month and do feedings separated with more time in between. After the month go back to normal feeding a and mist 4 times a day should fix the egg problem.

    I didn't see a lid over the tadpoles. I had a tadpole once when I was a kid. It jumped out while I was sleeping, and when I got up in the morning, I stepped on the tadpole and it squished in between my toes.

    When do you suggest they will be ready to leave the water? I have one that’s grown all its limbs but still has a tail. Do they completely absorb their tail before they are ready to leave the water?

      If they are in a 32 oz deli cup prop the cup up at an angle. The frog with climb out on its own. after it stays out for a while put it in the grow out tank. Thats what i did anyway.

    Nice setup and vid Mike. About the clear eggs, I have read that some species of frog benefit from a simulated season change so they can recouperate. Not sure if this is something your frogs need tho.
