- The're a lot to Tool's music and Justin Chancellor's use of textures, sounds and percussively cutting tone just blow my mind. This is a great example of the potential reached when you challenge the status quo!

When god decides to play bass
Sorry Darling when jesus decides to play along to god
no fuck you he is the god
This dudes my spirit animal
Explain this Maynard
Low E string on the Wal bass has been known to tear a hole in the fabric of spacetime.
The buildup that starts at 2:15 - 3:33 is my favorite part of any song ever
If you like that you should listen to Rosetta stoned’s buildup. It’ll give ya chills.
@@drphilsranch6782 yeah that’s a good one too
Mine too 👌👌👌
There's something hypnotic about this bass line... its pivotal to Stinkfist ...anyone explaining the function of bass guitar and how it leads a band working with drums ...just point them to this brilliant video. Beautifully played sir.
Thank you. It’s a solid song no doubt 👊🏻
you deserve more subscribers my man. i always love the tone and spot on accuracy of your covers
Thanks!
Totally agree.
Justin has a unique style and tone that is not easy to replicate, but your covers are exceptional. Getting the effects set to the original composition is not easy, you have a gift for hearing tones and matching them with your own equipment.
Thank you. Justin is indeed in a league of his own 👊🏻
@@kellogc definitely, after Paul writing some impressive riffs on Undertow, Justin had big shoes to fill, but went above and beyond on Anima.
Tone tone tone. You have it. Justin himself would be proud I'm sure. Amazing job!!
Unbelievable song played by an unbelievably gifted bassist. Thank you.
YEEESSSS, or SI! magical bearded bass man!! thank you, fantastic!
You sir are a beast... terrific tone, technique and a spot on cover... It's like an amazing lesson for bassists!!! AWESOME!
Ah yes! Thank you so much for this, it sounds awesome! Been meaning to learn this for ages!
Awesome. My favorite piece from Tool done masterfully
You’re always bringin the heat!!
Paz is waaay underrated. Love it.
Frigging "AWESOME"...love it, nicely done.
Flawless! You totally own that bass, beautiful tone as well 🤘
As always my friend, spot on playing on my favourite bass guitar ever made and my favourite metal band that ever existed. Saludos Kello!
Superb groove and tone. Three thumbs up.
love the way your bass growls during the breakdown.
I love bassists so laid back and chill. Makes me wana sell my kit and learn bass watching this bro!
Justin is one of my most favorite modern bass players and I totally agree with your assessments of his sound and style.
That tone was spot on!!
Nice work, Kello! One of my cover bands wants to pick this up. I came to the right place.
Greetings from Australia mate...Bloody awesome bass cover...Love it.
Awesome!! Real as it gets!! Damn that was nice!!
You've just earned another subscriber my man! That song has got some funk (no pun intended). lol I love Tool's music.
...que hermoso es el tono de los Wal, espero algún día tener uno en mis manos. tocas genial y mas ese ataque con los dedos, un maestro!
Magnifico. Cover Kello eres lo maximo
Love all your videos! Your skills and tone are insane.
True that tone is perfect for a Tool song. It could be cuz of the Wal bass ;)
+Kite_ _Man it does help ;)
Thank you for the wonderful cover! You have mastered some very delicate moments that are almost inaudible in the song mix. Although I have an opinion about both pre-chorus parts: it might differ a little it, at least based on guitar part, but anyway, who would notice? :)
I have used your work to learn the song to play with my band, so again thank you for all the work you have done here!
Very well done, Kello! With Tool there is always a counting process that is critical to remembering their lines. Everything is rhythmically dynamic, percussive and usually off metered. It's really challenging to play because of this.
Super job,man! Cheers!
just one word...AMAZING
You have gotten Justin's tone almost perfectly like would have thought this was the original recording
And again you did a great job. Congrats, man! Still waiting Third Eye cover :D
I'll definately do that song! Thanks!
Great cover man!
Amazing!
Felices Fiestas 😃❤❤❤❤🎸
Excellent 👏I like the way you played this. The frets you used differed from the tabs I have learned this song with. It sounded great!
You really captured Justin's dark tone, I'm jealous!
Spot on tone.
😍😍😍😍❤️❤️ Beautiful
Goosebumps Dude.... not kidding.
you are badass on that bass! Id like to see your band!!
Beast mode.
Dude. BEST COVER. EVER!!
Thanks! 👊🏻
Nice video, my friend! :) help me so much to learn the bass line. Thanks!
🤘🏾🤯🤘🏾 cranked this on stereo & shooked da pad.... wife not happy 🤣
Yeah! 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻
Cheers mate, you give great exposure on how a bass is played. Is there any chance you could do a Motorhead? something off Bastards or Motorizer, something like that.
Great job
Thank you 👊🏻
The video effect fits the cover perfectly
Fan-freaking-tastic!
Masterpiece
Indeed! 🙌🏻
Damn dude you play the best songs.
You are awesome!
Great!
Крутой чувак. Мощный звук и техника во всех каверах.
Fucking, bad ass!!
Love the effects on the video as well.
Incrivel amigo
I just realizaed this song is fucking awesome
Dig it! Tool rules!
fuck ye, a new video !
Increíble! Disculpa, tendrás los settings para recrear ese mismo tono? Tengo una Boss GT 10B. Muchas gracias y felicidades por las excelentes interpretaciones!
Incredible how some people are truly gifted with some incredible talents. I just started playing a bass not to long ago, it is nothing special. It seems really hard to find the tabs or anything else on bands from this era. You are very talented and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Siiiick
You were born to play bass
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it 👊🏻☺️
Great video!! Tell us more and that wal bass...
Justin is obviously incredible but people Forget Paul D"amour wrote some of their best basslines too. Honestly when i learned he was responsible for songs like Stinkfist, Eulogy, Pushit, Ænema, i was baffled. Not to mention my personal favorite and absolutely crushing bass part, H. Not to mention the great riffs he wrote on Opiate. Stuff like Cold & Ugly that just punches you in your face right off the bat. I think Paul is the better bassist if youre looking for straight up crushing bass parts and heaviness. Justin is your guy for that too but he also employs many other cool techniques like the harmonics on Disposition or... the entirety of Lateralus. Best bass lineup ever probably and its just two guys lmao.
Tool has been lucky to have two great bass players to complementa and take their music and sound to the next level.
A big part of his tone is the wall bass and it can be a challenge to get a good similar tone for us who do not use Wall basses but it is an awesome tone.
excellent bass ... how can I equalize to achieve that sound ... or what effect do you have?
help me please ... greetings !!!
70% is the wal bass, but with a darkglass b7k ultra and the right settings u van get pretty much the same, i recommend u the g&l l2000 if u want a similar bass, the wal bass its currently 8k to 10k usd
Big Mid and treble boost, some bass too. If not for Darglass pedals, you can try with a Sansamp.
From what I have read, Tool's former bassist Paul DAmour was credited on Stinkfist, Eulogy, and a few other songs on Ænima.
there are demos of stinkfist, eulogy, pushit and aenema with Paul on bass out there
Give me that bass ..... Now! Nice cover btw.
Finally someone mastering this without a plek
Hi Kello! What tunning are you using on this piece? Awesome job man. Justin is one of my favourite bass players out there and will start playing some Tool with this one since it looks achievable with some (a lot) work. Any tips to beggin with? Thanks!
Bass is tuned to Dropped D. Just let it rip! ;)
Very well played. That riff at 2:10 is probably my favorite of Justin's.
Paul's*
Patrick Tyler weren't the majority of Aenima bass lines written by Justin, I know he recorded all of them
Hey !
Very good job and great sound !
Is it possible to know what kind of rig/equipment you use?
Thanks. For amps I use an Aguilar rig. For pedals on this I used Sansamp BDDI. Most of the tone comes from the Wal bass.
Nice to see a fellow left legger!
Love your covers Kello! Do you find it a challenge to do the pedal tones that seem to be in every Tool song without using a pick? I'll look at more of your videos but this is something that seems to me would be very hard to do without a pick. I prefer fingers myself for the freedom and feeling "in-touch" with my bass but yeah, the pedal note/tone thing remains a mystery to me with fingers...
Fuckin solid bro!
Hello friend, for you what is the best distortion that can be used to have a good chancellor sound ?
Superb playing and tone as always! Do you do any bass cut when recording and if so, at what freq?
Most of the tone come from the Wal itself (it has a natural growl). The Sansamp BDDI helps with added grit and high end clarity (most settings to 12 o'clock)
💪🏻💪🏻
👊🏻⚡️👊🏻
🤘
🤘🏻
Wal has the best tone ever
Sounds amazing! What are you running the Wal through?
Quite awesomely done, subbed!
Do you have tabs by any chance? The ones I found online seem largely flawed, if not entirely incorrect.
Wicked tone. Thanks for teachings me this.
I think Paul wrote this track. He wrote bass for half of aenima. Justin is great but I prefer the stuff with Paul.
Top quality! If Mr Chancellor decides he's had enough. Mr Keenan, Mr Jones & Mr Carey need look no further.
Ilton White :)
how do you hammer-on and pull-off with the pinky during the breakdown and still get such an aggressive sound? i can barely get any sound at all lol
👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌
Okay dudskie, you are now officially responsible for hooking me up with bass. Just bought my first today. In my past, long time ago, I played lots on guitar (death / black metal) and just today I realised that many, many years ago i simply picked up the wrong instrument. The plus side is that experience from fast metal music made my fingers work like hammers, to hammer on / pull off / legato / taping and alternate picking come in handy now. Have some problem with playing using only fingers though, hope it will pass, but it you have any advice how to excercise it (thumb, index finger and middle finger seem promising, but the other two ones are kinda feeling 'underdeveloped' - it's a fucking waste i think, but then i see lots of players just using the three fingers doing fine, do you think it's wise to skip those two and just use them different way (holding onto the bridge, or maybe somehow using them to mute strings not needed at any particular moment? I see howewer lots of bass players muting string with their left hand, quite unusual for 'standard; electric guitar. Not sure what to with it now, just go with whatever's comfortable, or put a bit more effort in training the pinky? Cheers mate, well done in all videos, you fucking rock. And thans for the inspiration!
Well, all I can say is that since you already have experience playing just do whatever feels comfortable to get familiar with the new instrument. Little by little you can assess your strengths and weaknesses and work them. Either if it is sticking to use a pick, or start getting the fingers rolling, just remember it'll require patience to break old habits. Start slow and use a metronome. Thanks!
What is your rig man?! The tone is amazing!
Hey great video! Whats your pedal setup?
It's mainly my Wal and a Sansamp BDDI throughout the song
Fuckin epic👏👏🤘🤘🤘
fuck yess
Great job! Why don't you play with pick?
Although I like the sound of playing with a pick, I prefer the liberty of being able to use several techniques.
I agree on that, but sometimes, specially when you cover songs, it's better to play it as it was played by the original bassist. Anyways, gotta say you are awesome, and I love your beard.
Understood, point taken. So far I THINK I've made the songs justice; I'd use a pick if I thought I hadn't. In the end I started recording these videos to play the songs I love, that have influenced me over the years and have fun doing it. Then I decided to share them with all of you.
Just for the sake of it, I did record Aenema in both version, with and without a pick. Have you seen those?
Yee! Don't take it bad what i told you before, I was... just asking. And gotta say that you did great deciding to share your videos because they are all excellent, and also you! Keep it up!
Don't worry, I really don't take any comment negatively (even when they openly are). Imagine if I would! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. In the end, it is a Cover, a tribute... not a carbon copy :p
Thanks for your comments and watching my video. Take care
Killer bass player, tough to make Tool sound that good playing fingerstyle.
I do tend to think that Aenima is like the closest TOOL have come to a 'pop' album. Most of the tracks have great chorus melodies, there are a few more tracks in simple time signatures like 4/4 or 3/4 and hardly any of the songs reach the 9 minute mark. By TOOL's standards, that's pretty much Britney Spears :p
*F U C K I N' A Y E!*
Damn!!! 0_°
Drunk.Fuking good.
