While not exactly like this, Cassie’s desperation for security and approval reminds me of how I acted when I was in an abusive relationship :( I was too afraid to leave but knew I was being mistreated. I loved him so much and was convinced I could somehow better my situation if I behaved in a way he liked/I could somehow win his kindness and loyalty. But kindness and loyalty should never be something you need to fight for in a relationship. I never hurt him yet I accepted so much abuse. It’s so illogical and so said. I don’t know why I did it and yet I also completely understand :(
My god, I have a friend that is in the exact same situation. She is a fragile person, always looking for someone to love her and be on her side, reminding her how important and beautiful she is. She lost almost all of her friends, ruined the relationship with her family. He is jelous and manipulative, she can't even refer to events of her past before meeting him, she avoids to do certain things and asks us to avoid some topics beacuse she does not want to fight with him. Last month she descovered he had been texting a girl and asking her to sleep with him for months, and despite this she forgave him. I want ti help her so badly, but I don't know how
@Gaia, It's possible she doesn't feel the full magnitude of her situation *because* she has support. Not hating on you, but I'm trying to express that you and your friends are playing a part or enabling the situation by walking on eggshells during conversations for instance, providing emotional support, etc etc instead of being true/good friends and showing you want better for her through your actions instead of just thinking or talking it. She hasn't been given an opportunity to really see just how alone she is in her relationship because she's getting her intimacy fix from you guys if that makes sense. You guys can also help set an example or encourage self respect by telling her that you guys don't want to associate with people who don't respect themselves, codpendents or people who don't have identities of their own, aren't self sufficient or whole beings outside of their relationships, you care about her mental and physical well being (stress and depression and sadness actually causes chronic illnesses!), And that she should contact you guys once she's ready to individuate, be her best self and love herself as much as you guys love her and more. It's going to be hard, but that's your best bet. You can also direct her towards good channels on narcissism and healing from codependency and childhood trauma that causes it (I can make some suggestions if you're up for this intervention of sorts, lol).
I really feel like euphoria captures real life events and feelings that could happen to anyone. Nate in this case is longing for a perfect partner and does whatever it takes to fulfill that role, even if it means changing someone completely of who they are. Cassie is longing for attention and validation even if it’s from someone she has no buisness being with. we’ve all been in these situations, somewhat similar, making the show so much more interesting to watch and react upon the characters decisions
@@maevab2923 I mean, "father figure" doesn't necessarily mean "male spouse of my mother", it can be an uncle, a grandfather or simply a male tutor if the dad is nowhere to be found, and the same applies to homosexual couples who have children. That's not something kids have a choice in. You could literally be standing there crying and begging like Cassie was in Season 1 but if a man decides he doesn't want the responsibility of being a father there isn't a lot the kid can do. @@user-xq9cx9ky9m i don't think it's a father figure, i think it's a male role model/influence. all the men in cassie's life sucked so she doesn't have any standards of what men should be like. even just having a brother or good male friend could've helped her realise there are better men out there. the same goes for boys raised without knowing any good women, they can either become jaded and hateful or overly permissive and think 'that's just how women are' when they're mistreated. basically you just need to know people different to you so that you don't end up making decisions/judgements based on ignorance when you grow up
Fun story, I basically did this with my ex and it didn’t end well. I was extremely vulnerable at the time and battling some serious mental illness along with dealing with some trauma. Like rue said before he doesn’t really want a girlfriend he wants someone he can own and control. The only girls he has even a sliver of feelings for are Maddie and Jules but Maddie is officially finished with him after all this and Jules doesn’t trust him but he’s the absolute center of Cassie’s universe and she’s completely broken into submission for him so he’ll have her.
cassie honey... what is going on here im cringe all over the place. wtf is going on! ok you with him so, you dont have to change you can just be cassie, clearly the director doesnt want this relationship to last. so they bring the worst out of her..
Not ya‘ll taking Cassie down in the comments and blaming her for everything when Nate took advantage of her. The whole point completely flew over your heads, everyone in this show struggles with a different kind of addiction. Cassie is addicted to love/being loved, because of her deep rooted trauma. It doesn’t justify, but explains her behaviour. So obviously she will do anything for the guy she‘s idealising, because „at least she is loved“. Absolutely disgusting the way some of you talk about someone who is struggling, but fail to mention, that the guy is literally the biggest red flag in the show. Thank god this is fiction, but I‘m 90% sure you would do that to a girl irl too. Sad
Deep rooted trauma or not, what Cassie did to Maddy was Cassie's fault and no-one else's. Yeah Nate did manipulate her but she also has control over her own actions. Just because she's a traumatized girl doesn't exempt her from criticism or being held accountable.
This is sad, degrading yourself over a man that clearly is only looking at you for self satisfaction and nothing else their is no more depth than that if this is high school now I feel bad for this generation. Do not give up your power for anyone you do not even fully allow your husband to control you have some damn integrity
The writers just really wanted to destroy the hopes of MANY fans who liked Cassie and was happy to see her character growth throughout season 1 so it was expected to happen in season 2 and yet, they did the exact opposite and made her insufferable. I know I know, this show is about teenagers who naturally always made stupid decisions but they are really just not being consistent with the storylines and make any conflict actually seem like a natural process rather than suddenly just making them the worst they have ever been. Don’t even get me started on what the producer of Euphoria did to Kat for season 2. It was blatantly obvious that the producer was trying to punish Barbie because of their “behind the scenes” drama over Kat’s storyline and how little it made sense as well as I believe cutting out many of her scenes from what has been said online.
*I disagree by the end of season 1 Cassie is in a TERRIBLE Spot that daniel kid basically ruins her self esteem and is practically forced to get an abortion by her bf it makes perfect sense that she’d fall prey to a guy like Nate, Rue said in season 1 guys like Nate want a person they can own it and Cassie who is submissive and is willing to bend to the will of any man because of her abandonment issues made the perfect candidate for that after Maddy who’s the opposite. Cassie wasn’t suddenly gonna become perfect be ok after all the shit she went through in Season 1 that just naive.* *I agree on Kat though they’ve basically sidelined her entire character she feels like extra a lot of the time lol.*
Surprise surprise I ONLY watched Euphoria because all of these shorts about Cassie, she's the reason I made the effort to watch, and some long scenes about unbearable Rue I had to skip. So maybe so many fans don't like Cassie anymore and some new fans like me are watching the series just for her and her arch.
Cassie saying at least they looked when Nate mentions people looking down on her, sums it up perfectly. She is no worse and not much better than many of the others. A lot of them have been through a lot in childhood… and they all have reasons and explanations for the way they are. But there is no excuse for their behaviour but they are 17-19 and clearly immature.
I'm sorry, but if I knew absolutely nothing about Euphoria and someone showed me this clip and told me this was supposed to be 16/17 MAYBE 18 year olds in high school, I would've laughed in their face. Like ain't no fucking way...

i don't really get how cassie turned into this, like in season 1 she used to have boundaries when McKay would try to control her talking to other guys and when he choked her, why is she so mad for nate
if you watch season 2, when nate is fantasizing his life with cassie, there is a small scene of jules. he is still madly in “love”with jules. he never loved cassie if anything he loved he control he had over her. he needed her to complete his plan to take down his dad. he had feelings for maddy but only because of how loyal she was. the only person he truly has feelings for is jules who does like him (as we saw in season 1 during the club scene and she fantasized about nate) but won’t admit it. i don’t think nate even loves jules. i think it’s a trauma response from his dad. he found his p*** collection at such a young age that he didn’t get to have his own sexual identity.
season 2 episode 2 when nate is fantasizing his life with cassie, he literally describes jules. you can see small peeks of jules at 4:10, 4:13, 4:17 during episode 2. nate was probably attracted to how feminine cassie was, but during sex he would think about jules.
all the comments that are like 'never give away your power no matter what, its unnattractive' i think yalls desire for dominance caused by insecurity is whats even less attractive🤨 i havent watched that show but im pretty sure the issue lies in something different. lmao

I don’t know why I did it and yet I also completely understand :(
hoping you're well ❤️
My god, I have a friend that is in the exact same situation. I want ti help her so badly, but I don't know how
I understand also what she's doing. Sad.
Unfortunately I can relate, thank God I could make it out of that relationship. I hope you are well ❤
To the people that actually think Nate loves her. He doesn’t and never has
I don’t think he loves anyone. He just develops obsessions and it hurts everyone.

This screams abuse y'all. Her words come from an abusive mindset Nate has always been an abuser, don't forget that.
And this is why having a proper father figure in peoples life is important
it's parents not abandoning their child that is important. Not the gender of said parent.
@@maevab2923 I mean, "father figure" doesn't necessarily mean "male spouse of my mother", it can be an uncle, a grandfather or simply a male tutor if the dad is nowhere to be found, and the same applies to homosexual couples who have children.
It does matter that kids have both "mother" and "father" figures in their lifes, regardless of whether these two are engaged in marriage or romance.
That's not something kids have a choice in. You could literally be standing there crying and begging like Cassie was in Season 1 but if a man decides he doesn't want the responsibility of being a father there isn't a lot the kid can do. It's just one of those situations that sucks to go through, All you can do is comfort and support the person it's happened too.
I thought doing this would make me even more loved and wanted… but spoiler alert, it didn’t - it just gave my ex all the ammo he needed to abuse me further.
I was only 16 at the time so I definitely learned from it but boi what a mistake. Never give yourself away to anyone like you’re an object, you’re always so much more than that.

“At least I’m loved” the fuck you are!🤦🏻♀️ the ONLY thing Nate actually loves about Cassie is that he can have complete control over her.
The content is gross but the cinematography of all of this is stunning.

Cassie wasn’t suddenly gonna become perfect be ok after all the shit she went through in Season 1 that just naive.*
*I agree on Kat though they’ve basically sidelined her entire character she feels like extra a lot of the time lol.*

POV you recognize Nate from Noah in the kissing booth
Anyone knows what is the song that sounds? The Whistles
She hasnt got power and hard attitude like maddie
if you watch season 2, when nate is fantasizing his life with cassie, there is a small scene of jules. he is still madly in “love”with jules. he never loved cassie if anything he loved he control he had over her. he needed her to complete his plan to take down his dad. he had feelings for maddy but only because of how loyal she was. the only person he truly has feelings for is jules who does like him (as we saw in season 1 during the club scene and she fantasized about nate) but won’t admit it.
i don’t think nate even loves jules. i think it’s a trauma response from his dad. he found his p*** collection at such a young age that he didn’t get to have his own sexual identity.
season 2 episode 2 when nate is fantasizing his life with cassie, he literally describes jules. you can see small peeks of jules at 4:10, 4:13, 4:17 during episode 2. nate was probably attracted to how feminine cassie was, but during sex he would think about jules.
when nate is describing cassie, it’s ultimately her strengths that become her biggest flaws. she’s sensitive and powerful in her desire to be loved.
I had the same outfit she is wearing to my senior dance
i feel so bad for cassie, she just wants nates love, its embarrassing what she does to herself for it

Yeah. Get with her besties manipulative, toxic, abusive ex-boyfriend. And maddy even told her her ex was manipulative, toxic, and abusive. And she still went with him all because her dad left. Out of all the men she could have went to she chose her best-friends ex. Abusive ex at that.
@@mr.r3209 she’s literally being manipulated as well. She’s easier to give in to men’s tactics bc it’s all men ask of her. That’s literally what rue said in her backstory. She didn’t love Nate. She loved his attention. And he gave it to her bc she was manipulatable. Daddy issues goes a long way at a young age and can shift the way you perceive alot of relationships.
