    Worked as a pleat maker at Brody's in aldgate 1980-1986 under the best pleat maker that ever lived.. John smith..I've made untold sunrays..you methods are very different from Brody's I'll leave it at that..I was sample room manager at Jasper Conran and would do their pleats in house with just an iron and fuse press..but use Cement sometimes when busy

      I'd have to argue that my dad was and still is the best pleat maker. He worked or ran the business for 45 years.

    Great videos on your channel, out of curiosity would the pleats stay in after the fabric is washed?

      If you use a polyester then you can wash the pleated fabric at 30 degrees.

      As per my knowledge, Pleated fabrics should always be steam ironed from a distance (contactless as much as possible) .. this applies to mostly sheer and flowy fabrics.. if the fabric is thick then it need not be contactless..

      Hi, Mardwene sorry for the delay in response. The cabinet has a water tank in the bottom with an immersion heater which boils the water. You also need to suck the air out of the top otherwise the paper gets too wet.

      No not exactly but we do have a pleat that is similar call "treebark" There is a photo on our website in the fancy pleat section.

      Craft card around 200gsm. If you want the moulds to last you have to use virgin paper not recycled

      If you use 100% polyester then the pleats will stay if washed at 30 degrees.

      All depends on fabric..man made fabric hold the pleat better

      @@eastwell Very true but if you use Nylon then the pleat won't hold for more than 1-2 days. When pleating it is best to use polyester. This will give you a permanent pleat.

      Using Polyester the pleat will be permanent. If you use silk, cotton or wool then the pleat will loosen when wet.

    I made a sunray mold, about a year ago....once you get to the tiny bits in the middle, it really gets difficult!

      It's a steam cabinet and this sets the pleats. You have to let it cool down after for around 45 minutes.

      You can't iron these pleats. The heat will get rid of the pleat. You need to use pure polyester. This can be washed in a machine and hung dry.

      We don't supply the fabric. We pleat our customers. 100% polyester is the best option though.
