- It took me all summer to make the video, almost longer then it took to build the car. She has been out all summer and is a blast to drive. The car started life as a 1974 350 auto power brake power steering car we now call it a PEZ dispenser as it attempts to tear
heads off. If you want to see the car in action, and can stand me looking like a fool watch • 1974 Corvette Stingray... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
The body itself looks so modern with its curvy shape. I just love it. There was something magical in the 70s.
And then... a couple of years later everyone started manufacturing box shaped cars...
Thx to John de loren
E30 M3 was a nice box
Ugh. The 80s box shaped cars. 90s wasn’t much better honestly
I just found this. I want to say I love your restore. So many restore projects have nothing of the original car left.
Great work here. Years ago I attempted a frame-off of a '69 roadster. I say "attempted" because that was waaay too big a project for a noob like me. I rebuilt the powertrain & installed on the restored frame, then dropped the body back on. The thing sat up like a 4x4. It was ridiculous. I ran out of steam, knowledge and money at the same time and sold it for a big loss. C'est la vie. Makes me appreciate even more when somebody else actually gets it done!
dieselyeti thank you was a lot of work
beauty build and top notch parts selection, awesome car
thanks
Jim Kane
@@realbigdady how does something like this cost to do if I may ask.
Outstanding resto! Long live the C3.
Beautiful car! I don't care much for vettes after '67 but this car can't be denied, it's amazing, hands down cleanest C3 build ever! The engine swap is so tidy it looks more like it belongs there than the stock engine did! I love the car, insane work brother!
Jeff Wyatt thanks so very much
The problem here is someone purchased a '74 Corvette. The 34,000 miles on the odometer says it all. Safety plastic bumpers, no spoiler (!?!) automatic and an anemic 350. You did an amazing job resurrecting it to better than new.
Sweet jebus, that is one of the nicest Stingrays I've ever seen. I have lusted after 70's vintage 'vette Stingrays since... well, the 70's! But yours is absolutely one of the nicest. Well done.
Mike Woodman that’s what I’m saying!! Sweet jebus indeed!
awesome build. great attention to detail, mountain of patience and a chunk of change.
Well done Jim. a tasteful refurb on classic muscle. Worth every little penny!
This all looked very straightforward until I saw the wiring. No wonder my mechanic laughed at me when I asked him about rewiring my C3. Fantastic video and beautiful results. Hats off to you!
Amazing job. I'm biased that I love C3s - but even if not, I'd be complimenting you. Nicely, nicely done.
Thank you
Really nice job! You are talented for sure...pure mechanical art...just a beautiful car!
Incredible!!!! I love your vision and dedication it took to pull this off... I realize the expense and work that it took is beyond my skills and pay grade lol...I have realized that If I buy a classic car I'm better off buying a car that someone has already done most of the work and wants to get rid of... I then could add some personal touches... Thanks for sharing..I love how you put the video together!!
nice work, i have been slowly going through an early C4, amazing how much work, but so worth it.
I use to like a stick better than an auto, that is until i learned how to build them.
i shift my built automatic manually, lightning fast shifts, and instant access to the powerband via the correct torque converter selection.
Quedó chingón!!! Así es una reparación integral! los felicito
Esos rines progresivos se ven muy bien....
Great job bring it back on the road!! My hat off to you friend. I have a 69 convertible, done some work over the 29 years I have it. But you are the man! See you out on the road.
Nice, I have a '73 that I am elbow deep in right now. This was very motivating.
Love the black trim. Well done. You are an artist.
Did a really nice job . I know what it's like to have a car you did hands on .. perfect . Thanks for the video .
Good for you, another one saved and back on the road.
Beautiful car and beautiful restoration. Nice job!
Great Job! One of the ICONIC Designs of all time!!
Beautiful car and meticulous work. Nice job!!
I had a nice 1976 corvette I sure would like to have had you do this to it too!! Love the car great job on it like your house and yard too!
This is the probably the nicest C3 Corvette I've ever seen. I'm in the middle of a much lower budget version of this with my grandfather's 89 Camaro that spent 15 years sitting outside.
Lawrence Lentini thanks, and good luck with the build.
You've built an amazing '74 Vette Resto-Mod, especially for being built by yourself in your own garage! Great Job!!!
thank you
+Jim Kane how much did the modding cost
Adolfs Beauty Palace of o had to guess I would say 40k plus 1000 single man hours
STANCE! Spot. On. Well done resto!
I can appreciate only that there are people capable of doing this. It's not a financially sound thing to do, by the end you've built a new car on an old frame. However, respect given people are physically capable of doing this. I enjoyed the video.
I agree about it not being a wise investment, I think the guys that do this stuff do it because they can but in my case I wanted this car.
Inspirational video, thanks for taking the time to both do the restoration and making the video :o)
that is more or less the dream car ive been picturing building for the last 10 years. with the exception of the rear clip i like the formed spoiler better than the slope down and depending on money plus the shape of the original interior id do updated gauges /interior. love the rims they really completed the red and black look and made me say wow out loud.
Very nicely done. The wise investment comes in with the added pride and fun (with a healthy amount of cussing and blood) you get building up a car as you want it.
Time for license place now... Guys you did an amazing job... She looks fantastic...
I enjoyed watching that. dope Vette.
that's great
Great job 👍🏼... you have talent and vision. She looks gorgeous
RNY G thanks
Very nice - great build!!!
I sold my 2 1974s I had an L82 roadster and a 74 L48 coup looking for a C1 1958-62 for my next Vette Nice job on this one. Now I wish I had done this to my Convertable.Great job!
You guys did a class act job, the wheels need to be changed with some later model vette wheels, imo.
You guys might be right, might try new ones this year.
Can you at least try late model Corvette wheels? I have a 1977 and have owned it 34 years......ugh you guys are just pups.
Jim Kane look good to me
Beautiful build! Though large diameter Rally wheels would be very cool....
GM Rallyes look so good... why use anything else ?
I relived my rebuild. Soooo much work. Your car turned out great. These cars are tight inside. I went with auto also. Seats are tough to get right if your 6 foot tall. You really did a nice job. Congrats.
vetten76 thanks I am over 6 feet and the seats were one of the trickiest pieces to get rite.
Gorgeous work!
Wow 10k miles that's very impressive enjoy it in great health boss!! We got a 74 Vette l82 but it ain't like what you have!!! Amazing car I hope there are many more fun miles and shows for you to come!!
What a beautiful ride, great job to all of you
that's how you rebuild a beaut!!!! great job
Me and my dad are doing the same thing but its a 1980 love how yours turned out👍
I have not been much of a fan of that era vette but you nailed it with this one! The blacked out chrome and the color go awesome together and whoever says the wheels suck then they have no taste in designing cars at all! You have the modern power train in there and the modern wheels and suspention so its old with the new. Maybe put some of the body color on the wheels and that would shut half the people up on here but probably not. Pez dispensor, it took me a sec to get that but i laughed out loud in a place i shouldnt have when i did finally get it. You did an awesome job on it, top of the line for sure! Thanks for sharing it with all of us!!
wow randomly looking at 6.0 swaps for my camaro i come across the build of your car. ( red 89 camaro from tims kid who lost his license and got it back at the ending of car season) its great to actually see a build vid of the vett
absolutely awesome build another one saved ride safe bud
Stumbled on your video by accident. Glad I took the time to watch. FANTASTIC SIR! I envy you......someday I hope to do a resto-mod of my own. You did yours pretty much the way I envisioned the way I'd want to do it.....except mine would be Atlantic Blue. Yes, that's a Ford color, but its a great blue. With polished or chrome wheels.
But congratulations on your beauty. I wish you a million trouble-free miles.
thank you very much
Very nice resto-mod build you've got there, interesting choice with deciding to use C5/C6 Corvette side mirrors.
Nice Job Jim. I did a LS swap on my 69 Camaro with a 6.0 lq4 and it was the best decision I made. I drive it everywhere ! I might do the same on my 78 pace car.
My 79 is halfway there ... My pockets aren't as deep as yours ... Great job,,, lots of sweat N cash ... Enjoy the hell outta the ole girl ... Thx for sharing ..
good luck man I hope it turns out great.
Man - i just stumbled across this video. Awesome restoration. Must have taken 1,000 hours - wow - very nice.
Beautiful! Great piece of american art, love it.
JOHN JOHN thanks
Now that’s what I call excellent taste and build. Nice real nice.......
That was a cool build dude, and it is a very nice vette. Enjoy in good health, congrats mate.
Very nicely done! I'll have to look more into replacing the front springs with glass or composite like you have. I haven't seen that done before. You definately handled all of the details. The weather stripping, the interior down to every last nut and bolt. It's one thing to do suspension and replace the motor, it's a whole nuther thing to pay attention to all of the details the whole way through. I especially dig the side mirrors. Looks great and I bet runs very well too. Gonna check out the video now.
Great job, you are motivation.im in the middle of a engine bay make over ,I bought a 383/475hp,suspention,breaksfor my 71vette...
nice
Beautiful car, beautiful color!
Looks great! That’s a ton of hours!! Pulling motivation for my 79 rebuild
Great job, some clever work involved
Great job, love it.
Talented, jealous my brother in law who died in 1980 had those kinds of skills, all I ever managed to do is mess things up for someone like you try to fix.
Nice work Jim 👍
koolkev75 thanks
Wow you accomplished what I’m day dreaming about, awesome job awesome car god bless you and her lol
Very nice work. Lots of choices I wouldn't have made, like the wheels, mirrors, and front spoiler, but it was your blank canvas and you created what you wanted, obviously. I prefer more of a stock looking appearance with upgraded mechanicals/electrics.
Well Done.
I am not usually a fan of what amounts to a slide show on a video channel, but this was well worth the time to watch.
125AXer thanks
really awesome process, great job
Aside from the mirrors and wheels, this is sweet!
That's a fine build!
A lot of money went into this restomod so I hope someday the owner gets some of it back. Very cool.
Awesome job! Been down that road twice and I can tell you it was a three year job for each one of mine and I didn’t go to the extent you did: 68-L-79 Convertible, 77 L-82 coupe. 👍🏼
Wish I could post my pics here.
absolutely amazing build man. makes me want to put an LS into my 79 z28! haha
I got one in my 78 z28
Wonderful video. Thanks really enjoyed it.
Great job love the mirrors
Everything about this is beautiful
Well done lads!!!!
Beautiful car . Thanks for sharing this it with us
eyeswiredopen 👍
How can someone thumbs down this video? I watched it at half speed and it was amazing. Would love for you to do a voice over and let us know what you were doing and possible tips for things that we might need to do such a build like yours.
Very beautiful car man I am getting close to finishing mine up but I have to say you killed it on the build❤
Awesome! And inspirational :)
Your Corvette is awesome!
You did a very good job on it!!!
Wow beautiful car great work i can tell it took quite some time to get it like that
awesome build. I'd be pulling my hair out with that wiring haha. congrats nice car and setup
nice job. one of my favourite style cars
Like And Dislikes me too
Beautiful car man.
Nice job, car is really special.
Those old mirrors looked so goofy! The new ones fit perfectly with that car!
alwcurlz 👍
Nice, good looking and very fast, better than any new car IMHO
thanks
Awesomely beautiful build!! I have a 72 vette that I would love to do what you did to.
I love it!! Great job
Terrific job here! You are an artist by the way..
thank you
nice work! I really like what you did with the mirrors..
thanks
Nice job man love the color
Great video, I pretty much did what you did on a 72, but I went 496BBC and 6 link rear and a TKO 600. That LS conversion isnt cheap. I didn't do the C5 front brakes but I put in hydroboost, I hope it works when I get it done...lol
Great job on your build Jim! I'm currently doing this with a 5.3 LM7 and 4L60e from my old Avalanche into my 77. I was trying to figure out where to put the underhood fuse box until i saw what you did, and i will definitely be using your idea. My car didn't have a/c when i got it, so thats where i put the PCM with its original mounting hardware. I need to get another fuse box cover because i think i tossed it when i junked the truck.
Nice job! Well done!
Harleyforever20 thanks
Very nice result ! Congratulations for all your efforts :-)
Great job! I love it!
Great video!! Very interesting and helpful. This would have made a great instructional video.
300,000 views who would have thought. Thanks every one.
