Interesting. Not what we've experienced at all. Prices in Guatemala are about 1/3 of the US. We spend six months in the US and the rest of the year in Guatemala and Belize so we are experiencing the out of control inflation in the US first hand.

Eggs are still very affordable in Guatemala for visiting Americans and Canadians (we paid about $2.50 US for 15 eggs yesterday). Compare that to $9 and higher in the states. However, inflation has also hit Guatemala hard and some locals are struggling because even this price (higher than a year ago).
