Beijing, referred to as "Jing", was called Yanjing and Beiping in ancient times. It is the capital of the People's Republic of China, a municipality directly under the Central Government, a national central city, and a megacity. One of the famous cities and ancient capitals. As of 2022, Beijing has 16 districts under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 16,410.54 square kilometers. At the end of 2021, Beijing's permanent population was 21.886 million.
Beijing is located in northern China and the northern part of the North China Plain. It is adjacent to Tianjin in the east and Hebei Province in the rest. Its center is located at 116°20′E and 39°56′N. The seat of the Central Committee, the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China and the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China.
Beijing's terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The west, north and northeast are surrounded by mountains on three sides, and the southeast is a plain that slopes gently towards the Bohai Sea. The main rivers flowing through the territory are: Yongding River, Chaobai River, Beiyun River, Juma River, etc. Beijing's climate is a warm temperate semi-humid and semi-arid monsoon climate, with hot and rainy summers, cold and dry winters, and short springs and autumns. Beijing was rated as the first-tier city in the world by GaWC, a world urban research institution. The United Nations report pointed out that Beijing's human development index ranks second among Chinese cities. Beijing successfully hosted the Summer Olympics and Winter Olympics, becoming the first "Double Olympic City" in the world.
In 2022, the GDP of Beijing will be 4,161.09 billion yuan, an increase of 0.7% over the previous year. In terms of industries, the added value of the primary industry was 11.15 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.6%; the added value of the secondary industry was 660.51 billion yuan, a decrease of 11.4%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 3,489.43 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4%.

Wow I finally completed through virtual cycling on this Beijing Driving Tour.Beijing city has changed tremendously since my last visit some 30 years ago when I went to Beidaihe to learn and practice Zhi Neng Qi Gong for a month. I took a slow diesel power train from Beijing to Beidaihe. If I can remember it took me half a day to arrive at the Beidaihe station. I wonder how many hours it takes now by high speed rail ? I really admire you guys esp in preserving the old Beijing city and building a new Beijing city with many high rise beautiful buildings . I remember the old Beijing city along many of the single level shop lots having bucket removable toilets and stream long toilets for urinating . Amazing indeed to see all these system have been converted to clean and sparkling rest rooms. My salute to the People's Republic of China esp your president Xi Jinping.

My observations:
* There are fences along roadways to prevent people from crossing
* Roads are tidy
* No graffiti
* Road signs are not in English
* Road is clean, no pot holes
* No car honking
It feels like I'm in Beijing, a modern city w/ lots of high rise buildings.

30多年前，我在北京呆了兩天。
我坐車穿過市區，通過繞道出城。
城市裡自行車氾濫成災，自行車一輛接一輛地駛過，相距15厘米。他們掠過兩輛車的保險槓，將它們踢開。
繞道上的車不多，大多數都很快，而且司機也很粗魯。行駛時轉向燈不亮。有時，一個非常笨拙的司機正在奔跑。
另外，我有时还看到驴子驮着成堆的行李。
建筑物低矮，数量也不多。
发生的巨大变化让我深受感动。
30年以上前、北京に2日間滞在しました。
車で街中を通り、バイパスを通って市街へ出ました。
市内では自転車が溢れ、15cmの車間を、自転車が次々通り過ぎてました。両方の車のバンパーを蹴飛ばしながら、上手にすり抜けてました。
バイパスでは車は少なく、殆どの車は速く走り、荒っぽい運転手が多かったです。走行中はウインカーは点灯しません。たまに凄く下手くそな運転手が走ってました。
又、たまに荷物を山積みした驢馬も見ました。
ビルは低く、こんなに沢山ありませんでした。
随分、変わったなと、感慨深いです。
Over 30 years ago, I spent two days in Beijing.
I went through the city by car and went out to the city through the bypass.
Bicycles were overflowing in the city, and bicycles passed one after another with a distance of about 15 cm. they managed to slip through both cars kicking off the bumpers.
There weren't many cars on the bypass, most of them were fast and had rough drivers. The turn signal does not light up while driving. Sometimes a very clumsy driver was running.
Also, sometimes I saw donkey carry very very lots of luggage on the Beijing road.
Bilding was low and also few.
I am deeply moved by how much has changed.

We have to make wide roads because Beijing has over 7 million cars even though the car license control policy since 2010 , still a lot of traffic in the whole city. Beijing has over 800Km subway , but still over crowded for a city with more than 24millions population
Have you watched the video of Tianjin in this channel? The motorways in Tianjin were even wider than Beijing’s, which was a surprise to me.
