    Great video! Those offset flail mowers are really cool. I'd love to have one for my property, but there are a few more things ahead of it on the wish list. I really like how you show the equipment working instead of just walking around it and talking about the purchase experience haha. Keep up the good work!

    I like how he used the mower to trim the bush back I've done that so many times when I was a landscaper, but with a weed eater an I would use it to trim up the hedges if they had any huge stalks growing out the top or sides. It beats having to stop to trim it with the hand trimmers lol. If it works it works looks come 2nd imo. Nice job that thing took the log like champion tho. An I was so happy to see you had shut the engine down to retrieve anything that was stuck. Nice job an nice mowing deck it looks decently built.

    Nice mower Tony, I just have the fixed offset flail168 from Titan Attachments. I've mowed 20h+ with it commercially and it has been a champ. I did break one hammerblade when I mowed a city lot that had all too much trash hidden in the 6.5'' tall thistles and weed. But I charged the customer for the damages as it is their responsibility to keep their property tidy.

      I busted two blades, hitting a big hidden rock. I found the hammers on Amazon for 5 for $52. Cheaper than rotary cutter blades.

    When running vertical avoid looking back and wear a heavy coat with a hood. The flail mower can throw chucks at you when vertical. At least that's my experience.

    Nothing beats having the right tool for the job Tony. Maybe a float setting on the attitude ram would help on those bumpy ditches?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Před 2 lety +1

      I think a float would be great, but it would be terribly hard to hook up on these electrically controlled add on valves. It would make mowing that much easier if it had it. That is something to mull over.

    • @Bodhranarama
      @Bodhranarama Před 2 lety

      Just spitballing but a secondary hose with banjo fittings connecting the flow and return on the ram with an electromechanical solenoid valve in it to lock it up or allow circulation could be the hillbilly solution. Peace and love man.

    Obviously a great attachment, but better than a Bush Hog (aka rotary cutter)? One can buy numerous makes or models of rotary cutters for a fraction of the price if the need is simply to mow fields. One can also get a "fixed" flail mower much cheaper too.
    Where this rig is clearly superior, and worth the price, is in cutting ditch banks, and fence lines. Also overgrown areas where you have to "punch in" with your FEL and drive over the unknown to get a blade on it. I can come in along the edges 3 feet or more at a time with one of these. Power offset is also good on my tree farm for pushing in and out between trees.
    I'm saving for one right now but it seems like my 3 college students manage to come up with a $500/month unforeseen expense, so it may take a while.

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Před 2 lety +2

      The price of flail mowers have came down dramatically. I hit a big piece of rock busting off two Flail Mower hammer blades. They were about $10 per blade. A rotary cutter blade for a 4' rotary cutter is $50 and I would have destroyed two hitting the same rock. Granite doesn't give much. I still like a rotary cutter. It is better for backing into brush. It is also better at jumping over stumps and not digging in. For an open field, I will choose a flail mower every-time. It is faster, takes less HP, and cuts better. The fuel I save will make up for the extra cost.

    Thanks for this video. I have a Titan flail, but haven't figured out how to make it float to follow the ground contour. Is that a hydraulic top lift that allows yours to float like that?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Před rokem

      My top link has an oblong slot for the toplink pin to float back and forth in. It is a very simple design. No hydraulics needed.

      We have the hammers. I busted two off the other day on a big rock. It took about three days to get replacement hammers. Bought them off Titan Attachments website. Flail mowers or bush hogs don't like 60 pound rocks.

    Why do use it offset on level ground?

    • @TonysTractorAdventure
      @TonysTractorAdventure  Před 2 lety +2

      So I don't run the grass down with the tractor. I can mow behind me if I want. Mowing to the side keeps the radiator clean also.

    • @kdegraa
      @kdegraa Před 2 lety

      One advantage of offset mowing would be the grass is not knocked down & compressed by the tractor running over it before the grass is mowed. I’m pretty well sold on getting a flail mower like this for my tractor.
