Interesting, most of the intro is lacking details like the clouds, but the water around Guybrush actually looks more detailed with the reflections and stuff than in the final. Also that first close-up of lechuck looks so weird Very cool video, I never knew this game had a demo
I played this demo many times on my Monkey Madness CD that was in the Lucasarts Archive set. If I'm remembering correctly the game wasn't even out yet when I played the demo. I finally did get it once it game out and I think it is my favorite Monkey Island game.
And here I am a year later with no memory of posting this. This has been happening a lot lately. I'll search up a video only to see that I commented on it sometimes less than a year and sometimes many years ago but have no memory of it.
Thanks for uploading! When I heard there was a Demo for this game I wanted to pay my friends mom who had an internet connection to download it for me, it was a 33k oder 56k modem and it would have loaded all night at least. Unfortunately it didn‘t work for some reason so I finally got it from some games magazine. I played it a lot, really a lot. Love all the details like the bananatree from mi1 that is visible in the beach of monkey island. Also very good video quality!
I had a similar experience with the Escape from Monkey Island demo. I think it was around 120mb and it took like 12 hours to download it. I had to use a download manager so I can resume it because if someone wanted to use the phone I had to pause it and disconnect.
Also object highlight was yellow instead of red and it's slightly harder to get Wally to admit he's Wally. It's intresting to see how things were refined for the final product!
Looking at the game files for the demo - "Scripts compiled Tue Apr 15 1997 14:21:23" . The final product has "Scripts compiled Wed Oct 15 1997 18:21:17". Huge gap there, wonder even if the full story had been decided at the point of release of the demo! As an aside the Monkey Island 2 rolling demo is an interesting one too - can use ScummVM to make it playable, so you can see all the differences in that
A few! Is curse your favourite? If so I recommend Broken Sword or Deponia. If you enjoy the classic games too, I'd suggest Simon the Sorcerer. And of course there's the other LucasArts adventures!
@@THESCUMMBAR Thanks for replying. I have never even played Curse Of Monkey Island. I can't belive i missed out on this game as a kid. I Had the Secret Of Monkey Island as a kid, { Just completed about a month ago}. Am gonna have to get the Curse Of Monkey Island
I remember playing this demo on a CD from a computer magazine when i was a kid. Although it took me a while to get used to the new Guybrush voice and character design, the quality of 2d animation and design made me feel excited for the future of adventure games. i thought this genre of games was just going to keep advancing from here but little did i know it was the peak and it was all down hill from then on with shitty 3D games.

@@HerecomestheCalavera happens to me only after consuming alcohol. Are you ok?
We can see that all the food floating around Guybrush in the intro was added later! :)

And I have to add that bananas don‘t grow on palm trees.

7:00 funny how the inventory art used to be, also a lot of changes on intro and outro even music was kinda different.

I have a video about the Monkey Island 2 demo here! czcams.com/video/HTrdxik9mF8/video.html
I remember getting this demo on a demo disc back in the day. Played through it even though I could barely understand English
I had a pretty bad day until now... This video made it a little better.
I hope your day gets better. :)
@@THESCUMMBAR thank you:)
I wonder if I'm the only one who noticed and was disappointed that the skeletons in the full game are no longer British.
I love this interesting videos!
why is billy quizboy here
Is there any other games that are similar to monkey island

Is there no CMI (THX parody) logo here?
Either they hadn't added it yet, or decided to not include the joke in the demo.
