Peter explains what he means by human passions in the very next verse: 1Pe 4:3 For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. But, I believe there is more than this list. Paul says in Ephesians 5 to examine (yourself) to see whether you are living in a way to please God. There is much explanation in Ephesians about these human passions that oppose the will of God and where they come from and why.
