    [ENG] Here is the interview of Otagi-Nembutsuji's Head Priest Nishimura Kouei explaining the meaning behind its 1200 funny statues.
    Otagi-Nembutsuji is a remote and beautiful temple located after Toriimoto Street, in Kyoto at the top of the Saga-Adashino Arashiyama district.

    Our name "Miyako from JAPAN" comes from "Miyako" which is the old name for Kyoto, when it was the capital city of Japan.
    Kyoto is a wonderful city to discover old Japanese townhouses, Japanese traditional and modern architectures, 1600 Buddhist temples, and 400 Shinto shrines including numerous Unesco heritages.
