These mini books were inspired by a project I found in Sue Heaser's book Making Doll's House Miniatures with Polymer Clay.
    www.sueheaser.com/books.html
I had an absolute blast making these miniature books. I used a few different materials for the pages & a wide range of techniques to decorate the covers. These mini books can be used in a dollhouse or as earrings, or charms. They're so cute, they'd make a great gift as well.

    My fave things:
Miter Shears- this pair is highly rated and has replaceable blades

8 oz bottle of Diamond Glaze

    Double-sided flooring tape

    Mini Clamps

Craft heat gun that doesn't get as hot as mine
    amzn.to/3ZZ5wWe
Nail Studs- I like these because there are a variety of sizes in silver and brass
    amzn.to/3JEtJMd
For under $10, you get a variety of jump rings, lobster clasps and pliers

Paper fasteners & 1/8" hole punch

I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, dioramas, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I'm also working on a large Harry Potter build in 1" scale. I'm making the Gryffindor Common Room from scratch.

I'm so happy to hear that! I spent the better part of 10 years experiencing debilitating anxiety and depression. There's always hope. I overcame my troubles with acceptance and commitment therapy. I didn't have money for a therapist so I used a book called the Happiness Trap by Dr Russ Harris.

I know this probably sounds weird but, you know how we feel the day the depression lifts and we feel somewhat normal for a few days? I decided my depression was me mourning the parts of myself I lost (that I no longer needed) so I can grow more. Maybe Im just playing a mind game with myself but, I works. My down days are not as long or as debilitating just by changing how I looked at my situation. The thing with me was I tried so hard to hide my depression, only those close to me have experienced that side of me.

This video made me think of this chair my mom had when I was a little girl. The upholstery tacks had a pattern on them. I would press my arm against the tacks so the pattern would leave indents. I thought it was so cool. I had to go to Amazon and look for upholstery tacks, that I don’t need. Now I’m down the rabbit hole. Anyway, great video!

    * I got a load of ‘leather effects’ clay at Michael’s marked down to $2, all the earth colors…when it got marked down to $1 I got all the other colors knowing I could paint or tint them. All these book tips will come in handy- the stamps are very cool. Soft clay can be tricky/delicate, hard to not warp the shape while handling. I wonder if the imprint and stamping while the cover piece is flat might allow more creativity with less caution? Check size over the paper, make the ‘fold marks’ for a guide. Remove, lay flat and stamp designs, then any final adjustments after its back on.

I love all of these and how many different techniques and options you show! As far as the stickiness of the polymer clay goes: just lightly dust a bit of corn starch over the clay before stamping and nothing will stick! The corn starch doesn‘t affect the baking or anything else.

As usual your attention to detail and your resourcefulness are inspiring! In future, you might try a light dusting of cornstarch to help with removing pressed-in items, like that frame. It works for kiln-fired clay; I have almost no experience with polymer clay, so Idk, but I would think it would still work. Thanks for a nice long video!! 🥰

Oh hey, extra mini stamps for my mini scrolls and mini wax seals!❤ I cant do polymer clay, I may try your method of heatgun and cup at some point but, for the moment, I use Milliput for everything, its rock hard, doesnt cost much and takes even fine hair detailing (if you happen to like modifying model horses like me). I just cant see the point as I always burn it or something equally discouraging and Milliput seems foolproof (required in my case lol)! I just found out that if your paper punch sticks, using a candle on the cutting edges really helps (dont say I never pass on tips to you!) I have a set of metal stamps, the letters and numbers and a couple of others that I was going to use to stamp metal objects, you just reminded me so I need to go and find them because they would be perfect for this and my tiny wax seals.

I think I like the rose book the best. This is definitely one of my favorite videos so far. I absolutely adore books to begin with. The variety of styles was endless and mesmerizing. I'm going to make sooo many of these! A lot of mine will be Ravenclaw themed though, lol. I think I'll make Hogwarts library as my first project. Is that too ambitious? What do you think?

If you enjoy making books, then I don't think a library is too ambitious. I had such a blast making these.
I've taken the Hogwarts house quiz multiple times and I'm always a Hufflepuff! Actually, I did get Gryffindor once. I hate being a basic Hufflepuff!

These 1:24 scale books were easy to make.
I don't think the clay books were any harder to make than the larger books. It feels so different from making a miniature book, maybe you would enjoy it.

@@queencityminis Good point! It's certainly worth a try. And I have tons of things I can use to make my own stamps...which, btw, was brilliant. Since I'm just starting to play with polymer clay, that idea is going to be phenomenal! Also, using the plastic wrap before trying to make lines in it...I was having trouble making clean lines deep enough for them to stay after the clay relaxes a bit.

To paraphrase a mid-20th century fashion maven, Black and Brown should NEVER be worn together. Charles Worth did it mid-19th century and got away with it, but only on Empress Eugenie........................
On a less pedantic note, your books are wonderful - the innovations just keep coming. If you had worked for NASA we would have been on Mars already............................
