Shortly after this video was shot Lee began working feverishly on his newest lure, The Dog Bobber.
I love this series! People need to start appreciating bowfin and other rough fish!
Truth
I loved it it was well edited and very interesting to watch and the fight was amazing
Thanks
All the dog referances are pretty good. Man he barked on that one good 🤣🤣
Another great video!
Awesome video! Love them doggies!
liked it before even started watching lol!
There’s like 3 channels I do that for and this is one of them! Always bangers!
Many thanks
Awesome keep the doggies coming!
Caught a 30 inch dog the other day while bass fishing. It ripped the treble hooks right off my popper in the net. Unbelievable fish that are so much fun to catch. Keep this content going I love to see it.
What state?
I like the fact that you guys actually go after these and enjoy it! These are one of the coolest and best fighting fish out there no one likes catching and people are missing out big time. Lots of fun but I will admit, they are not good eating at all... lol.
And couldn't help but notice that frog lure you were using at the beginning. Is pretty cool lure. Hard to get though
🤙
Starting to become one of my favorite channels. Keep it up.
Thanks for letting us know!
I love catching Grenal , great video
As an angler on the St Lawrence, you are more than welcome to fish our waters any time just please hit that record button!
Huge bullhead by gananoque on the st Laurence
@@Monkeyman121244 I'm on the states side but I've fished the creek under the bridge to Gananoque at night for bullheads with lanterns a month after ice out. Great times.
Love the dogfish vids
Yes!!!! I love doggies!!
The bowfin is such a wonderful quarry...have not caught many large fish however, I have caught a 31"...11# 3 0z bowfin on a spinnerbait...thought I had hooked up on a super moss back...Thank you for taking us on a fine outing.
Cool. What state?
@@TodaysAngler Tons of these on the crawfish river. I just caught my first one since I was a kid. Guessing around 8lbs. They fight!
You guys should make a t-shirt saying rough fish rule. Great channel guys keep it up
Amazing production quality
🤘
Where exactly do you guys fish on the Mississippi river in Wisconsin. I'm looking to travel up and fish where you guys are
There’s tons of water just like this along the river in southern Wisconsin.
How in the world do they not have more subs, come on guys.
Tryin here...🤙
I was thinking the same thing!
Because 0000000.000000001 % of people like bowfin
I like bowfin they are very fun to catch. Way more fun than large mouth.
As a fellow wisco angler I'm super stoked to have found you guys!
🤘
Love these dogfish videos, mow you just have to attach hooks to the bobber.
Awesome video ! Love the content I’m in New Jersey, I catch them all the time my personal best is 9lb at 32 “ long she was spawned out but would’ve been well over 10lb if she was fat, but she was absolutely massive, it demolished the teckel maracker. Anyway keep it up guys channel is one of the best.
Awesome. Many thanks
We have been catching quite a few of those dog fish while bass fishing on the Wisconsin River below the Dells dam.
Interesting
You guys should use flukes I use to catch a ton of dog fish torney bass fishing on the river in the lacrosse area
Exactly what I used to do with the slip bobber growing up for dogs
Anychance you’d make a video on the duramax suburban? That’s my dream rig! My parents had a full-size 1500 2010 burban
Probably not, some people may take it as bragging. Feel free to dm me any questions on it.
I caught some big ones in Northern Indiana in small bays that are connected to big rivers by a creek. Live bait.
That looked like mono on the cutbait rod that’s why you missed it. Always gotta go with braid to get the hook in them. Also a hookset to the side will pin them in the soft stuff in the corner of their jaw. My hookup ratio went from 1/8 to 1/2 by just doing those 2 things
That was 30lb braid
that is a good day of fishing
About 10yrs ago just north of mille lacs I had a 31" bowfin crush a giant jackpot that I hand painted to replicate a pike. He did a gator roll after he crushed it. Tough and mean when they wanna eat.
Hell yeah good to see yall seeing and replying to my 618 comment about cut bait and having it work is awesome!
Hey youre the dude that fishes busse for musky all the time.....
And you are correct alex.
Love that frog you guys were using in the beginning! What's it called?
Jump frog
My son and I fish the Rock River near Watertown, Wi. area with pieces of cut bluegill and we catch mostly Dogfish actually. I believe it's at a point where there's too many of them! We have caught over a dozen in one outing!
Wow, that area has been on our radar.
3:46 ad watched.
This is the love I give . Plus 2 subscriptions and unlimited thumbs up.
Doggie power .
Big moves💪
@@TodaysAngler chris B should put you on the bass spot on AP Bassin latest vid
He owes;) you
Thanks for walking the dog .
Freaking love this series! What’s the opening intro song called?
Not sure
If they are eating bluegill you should throw bluegill swimbaits
Weedless bluegill something like a dream smasher?
Golly! Don't know how you guys can stand fishing in all that slop. Best of luck! Hope you catch the record!
Gotta fish where they are
Can’t imagine targeting dog fish and getting upset about a bass or pike haha but nice video
They are our target specie. The fight much harder, have teeth, and more of a challenge.
Where were you fishing state I mean it dose and it doesn’t look like Wisconsin
Mississippi River
One day you guys gotta head down to MD/VA to fish for snakeheads. Almost identical to this. They get over 18lbs in the right areas.
True
Snoop Doggy Dogged" Sic Edit" Nice Trip!!!
Western Kentucky
I missed a huge one probably mid 20s broke off at the bank!
Might be the first time I've seen you guys catch a fish on an old abu reel on this youtube channel. Think it was your old youtube channel maybe fishing for catfish.
Ha
U guys should fish lake wazee for trout
Whenever I fish cut bait for cats on dams I ALWAYS catch dogs mixed in with the cats. Caught a nice 10 pound doggie a month ago.
What state?
Minnesota on the Mississippi
yall need a truck sponsor.
Or on the road mechanic. Lol
I live on the St Laurence river south in Quebec Canada
I have a cottage up there but on the American side
Zach Dank Nice rlly nice there
Put a hook on the bobber, I guess?
Whats your guys PB bowfin?
29.5" 8.5
your record doq lives in lake beulah in walworth county.no BS
Allright
You guys should use cut bait!
You should watch the video a little closer. 😉
@@TodaysAngler Haha yeah sorry I typed that when you were still throwing frogs :p
Great video!
Wait.. Madison had bowfin???
Yes however this is not Madison, Mississippi River.
@@TodaysAngler at some point in the video the guy you were fishing with said Madison had them years ago
What is that intro about
Bowfin
Gentlemen... please try texas rigs for these doggies.
Have caught them on them but many of the areas we have been fishing them have very thick weeds where the bait tends to disappear in them. More open water it has worked for me.
Can't wait for the haters to start commenting about live/cut bait. Hard to get a sense from a video, but the dogs always seem weirdly wary of the lures.
They follow like muskies
I would prefer targeting common carp. I dont understand the obsession with this species. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Feel free. For us a fish that fights harder, eats topwater, has teeth, and follows lure more than biting them is far more interesting.
Them dogfish love to bite alot and play with you but their great at managing to spit it out 80% of the tine those little bastards
Dogfish on the loose!
Looking at these fish I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t love to catch one.. I met you guys at chicago shoe and commented about you being desperate.... Very wrong....Love your videos & your baits........
Desperate? Don't remember.
Todays Angler I had the MAGA hat on with my wife who’s very tall with me spent a bunch 😁thought then you were desperate to catch fish assuming the Muskie bite was terrible.... Not realizing it was the heat .... You guys were gracious and I was glad to meet you!!!
Todays Angler do you guide at all?
Use stronger octopus or j hooks!
We are using a 3x Vmc circle.
circle hooks are meant for fish with softer mouths , j or octopus hooks seem to have a way better hook up ratio for me anyways
I have caught many of these on the Mississippi near La Crosse. I have yet to break 10lbs though. They are out there though. It will be nice if people treated these fish better as I see them killed most of the time they are caught. Ignorant fishermen.
Truth
Why do you call them dogfish instead of their real name of Bowfin?
Thats what most people call them in the Midwest. Where in the south they call them Grinnel.
Ditch the chevy. They are money hole craptastic vehicles. One word for vehicle, especially truck, reliability....Toyota. Bought a brand new chevy in 1997. 6 months and seven trips to the mechanic I threw the keys at the Chevy dealer manager and got a Toyota. 225k miles later I never had it break once. Just sold.it two.days ago because i.have a new Tundra. Good luck.with the hunt for gigantor doggies. We hated these things when we were kids but now i love to catch those and gars because they are just insane fighters.
I'll pass on the Toy...I will give you they are quite reliable but wimpy at pulling boats. Got over 300k on the Chevy chassis and is also a Duramax diesel conversion so now pulls like a beast. Many Duramax trucks go 500k+ miles.
Plus Chevy has the best styling.
Gross fish.
