This was the movie that got me into breakin in the early 80s. We had never seen anything like it before and soon had a small crew competing with local city boys and you have to think that we were from a very small town in the centre of the UK. Amazing time of my life.
Blast from the past , the song was "Breakers Revenge" and the burnout was between New York city Breakers and Rock Steady Crew . Has to be the best breakdance battle I ever saw, couldn't really pick a winner but enjoyed it thoroughly , the 80's were magical musically
it was an epic battle I was 13 watching this .. greatest breakin iv ever seen and they were so athletically gifted and so much energy wow it never gets old!!!!!
It seems like yesterday, when this was filmed.. I used to hang in the roxy every friday for what used to be Hip Hop Culture night, orig on Thurs. A few corrections for all of you interested.. 1) Its called Breakin, not breakdancing 2) what you call " windmills" were originally named continuous backspins! 3) The 4 elements of Hip Hop are: DJing, MCing, Tagging, and BBoying. I was privledged to be hanging out with RSC back in the day at 99th and Amsterdam Ave... Shout Out to.......Johnny Roman,RIP

Old enough to have seen this at cinema in London when it came out. After the film the foyer ( which had a polished floor ) was full of Bboys windmilling. Insane. The staff didn’t know what to do. Good times.

just how we used to do it back in the day. Loved this film, we would wag school and watch it endlessly then go and break in the youth clubs and high rise housing blocks as their floors were always clean and slippy. Straight outta Sheffield '84

Who's now a grandpa 2019 ,was a breaker when beat street came out.
⬇️
I'm not. Just an uncle... Haha
@@eeerabbit5945 yep same here.

4 grands here. Used to break every day!!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Not a gradpa yet but grew up on beat street...i know the whole movie by heaart...
80's kids are the last great generation America will ever see.
Nah. I've been making sure my kids know what's up.
I believe it
80s CHEEE 😎
Thats cute.
It's true and people just don't know from the era
This was the movie that got me into breakin in the early 80s. We had never seen anything like it before and soon had a small crew competing with local city boys and you have to think that we were from a very small town in the centre of the UK. Amazing time of my life.
same here bro,i am from wolverhampton and we had the best crew in the b-boys
@@garymeacham7353 great days man, I’d go back tomorrow.
In my 50's now in 2022 and I am still blown AWAY at what I see as kids now doing this. At times it looks sped up but it's not. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🔥🔥🔥
Lil Lep's response to Legs with the one legged swipe to head drill was beautiful🔥
When Lep saw Crazy Legs messed up his head spin he was like "I'm gonna show him how it's done"
This is the best movie ever with the best break scene. Old SCHOOOLLL!!
Was 14 or 15 when this game out , now 53 and still the best dance movie ever sound track was unreal.
NYC BREAKERS,,,FOREVER,,,,ROCK STEADY TOO,,,LUV EM ALL
Blast from the past , the song was "Breakers Revenge" and the burnout was between New York city Breakers and Rock Steady Crew . Has to be the best breakdance battle I ever saw, couldn't really pick a winner but enjoyed it thoroughly , the 80's were magical musically
J Oluoch Best break battle ever
this was the best battle I've seen and they both won in my eyes lol
Facts💯💯💯💯💯
it was an epic battle I was 13 watching this .. greatest breakin iv ever seen and they were so athletically gifted and so much energy wow it never gets old!!!!!
You RiGHT mos DeF🔥🐅
I'm 54 this seems like yesterday...good times
I was born in 2004 and my dad showed me beat street when I was around 6, still listen to all the music to this day ❤
You have a good dad lol
It seems like yesterday, when this was filmed.. I used to hang in the roxy every friday for what used to be Hip Hop Culture night, orig on Thurs.
A few corrections for all of you interested..
1) Its called Breakin, not breakdancing
2) what you call " windmills" were originally named continuous backspins!
3) The 4 elements of Hip Hop are: DJing, MCing, Tagging, and BBoying.
I was privledged to be hanging out with RSC back in the day at 99th and Amsterdam Ave...
Shout Out to.......Johnny Roman,RIP
The 5th and 6th element ... beatboxing and graffitiing (like you said 4th)
@@AonnrecordsBlogspot tagging falls in the category of graffitiing or vise versa. But the 5th element is beatboxing...Rahzel made it offical IMO.
I envy you
I’ll add on to your list
The moonwalk was originally called the backslide
That was the cleanest intro great shakes ( windmills
Hip Hop may have evolved but these are it;'s true roots.
Devalued hip hop can only HOPE to as it was
40INTENSITY #FACTSSS#🎯💯
Evolved into what exactly?
my era started this. i used to be one,a breakdancer
Its why Big Daddy Kane and Rakim are both GOAT of Hip Hop.
Wow this battle is brilliant. I remember watching Beat Street at the Cinema when it was released, me and my friends kept talking about it for years, I miss the 80s!!!
Esse é sempre SERÁ O BREAK RAIZ!!!! ATUALMENTE HOJE SOU DO REGGAE, MAS TIVE A HORA E ALEGRIA DE DANÇAR BREAK NA EPOCA, DO FILME BEAT STREAT, DANCAVAMOR NA FRETE DE UM SHOPPING E SEGURANÇAS NOS EXPULSSAVA, KKKKKK

SÓ GRATIDÃO , MAN
no guns just dance
& no twerking asses finally!
Oh there where guns, bricks, bottles and blades ECT but they where smart and waited after to get at someone.
i dont know we still had guns lmao stick up kids had to be checked
I know what you mean by no guns but guns do have their place in society like for example when a mother is left alone to protect her children while her husband works overtime! However that's a different discussion. Peace.
@Ese Foo Problems .. was there CRACK ?
Mr. Wave was everything!
Hard to believe my specialities were swan dives, helicopters and one handed spins. I get cramp reaching down to put a plug in the wall these days!
djGreenALERT geeze, if I tried this now, they’d need an ambulance parked outside 🚑🚨
@@balpacino472 :)) It's no good gettin' old huh!

I feel you bro @) omce upon a time i used to actually practice "locking!!" now my shit just randomly locks up after sleeping!!! I can turn my head to look down the road and fuk my shit up real good now lol
That's almost as good as. . . "Back in the day I busted all these moves, but nowadays, I can't even bend down to pull on a sock!"
'Shadows of the night seem to follow me. "Pure lyrical genius
Como encontro essa música ?
@@nelsonchaves2598 la encontraste? Yo tambien la quiero
Too bad i was only aged 1 when this was released. However, my father was one of the extras on set!
Definitely the best hip hop/street dance movie of all times.
Forget: Step Up, Save the Last Dance, You Got Served, Stomp the Yard, Honey etc...
Beat Street is where it's at👑.
*"Beat Street Breakdown, rrrrhaa!🎵"*
This tune sends shivers up my spine EVERY time i hear it!
Arthur Baker and J B genius!
Damn I got goosebumps as soon as that beat started, Im 49 and I feel this is the king of all dance movies
00:25 Rock In Power : Kuriaki and Buck Four
I could listen to that beat forever...
I can watch this for days
Bring this back 2021
2020 and still! Mr. Wave told me this battle was actually about a hour long. 😬
Wow! They kept going between the 2 Crews? Rock Steady needed Storm and Fable. To balance it out. Doze was the Weak link.
@@rwarren4637 Yeah that's what Wave told me. Yeah RS was missing Frosty Freeze too. It would've been nice to have all the crew members present...
We need the Directors Cut!!
@@wheelzofoz I’m sayin!!!
Old enough to have seen this at cinema in London when it came out. After the film the foyer ( which had a polished floor ) was full of Bboys windmilling. Insane. The staff didn’t know what to do. Good times.
same in my cinema, and there where only about 10 people watching it at the time. Don't see that anymore!!!
Holy jesus sein us
Lmao 😂
LOL and... i think given the audience here
you don't really need to tell us that the foyer floor was polished
you just need to say ... AFTER THE FILM...... IN THE FOYER (enough said LOL)
Born in 77’ Beat Street meant everything to me. This is when the Bronx was recognized all over.
Me too born the same year from the Bronx.
Haven't seen it in years. The goose bumps hit me like a bolt of lightning👌😨
Taught you how to conduct yourself in a crowded club ready to battle.
I'm almost convinced that this might be the best EVER BBoy video on CZcams ...
It is the best old school movie ever
Only "almost"?
It IS!
@@jorgelouis709 ok i will
This is the foundation of Breakdancing
Best breakin' movie scene ever.
This is how it really went down in nyc in the 80 miss them days this is the real break dancers it was a life style and our culture black and brown together stand up one ☝🏾☝🏿Love
Don't discriminate the whites😠
Not discriminating it’s just that white people was not apart of the culture back then again it was our life style that’s all.
who watching in 2019? damn this is amazing
I had the vhs back in the day...
I love Hip Hop music and Movies! My top movies are Beat Street,Krush Groove,Breakin,Juice and Boyz in the Hood.
It looks great ... holds up well !

Uff Windmill they're still good. The music of 80s, many memories.
Now these were the days when it was fun and you could be at peace. Fun times.
1:32 sickest moves ever
MR. WAVE!!!!!!
No doubt!
UTFO’s Kangol Kid had moves like that too.
Amen!
I have yo disagree 2:10 by Ken Swift!
Very underrated film and scene. So well done. Those guys still amaze me.
We had so much fun back in these days. No guns, no knives, just music and our energy. These days are long gone but we have our memories to cherish from this era. Love the 80s!
Man I wish I could be able to enter into a nightclub and everybody was dancing like this👏 I'm only 23y and I'm all about 60's till 90's but unfortunately day by day this hype is getting more rare
I miss them old days ... my up rock was vicious ..... and floor exercise was 💣💥💣💥💣💥
Its crazy how even as a kid i knew this movie like the back of my hand 😂 born in 97 btw lol
Love the comments, true love for the old days, different times of beats and rhymes. I was never that good at breakdancing, so stuck to playing the decks and spraying up walls, but watching this always cheers me up, love the movie. Along with Wildstyle true blue classics
One of the greatest scenes in any movie ever!!!!
Much luv from Paris to all breakers !!! Peace Unity Love and Havin' Fun... 4EVER !!!
49 and this will never get old
I'm 49 now and I Loved watching this as a teenager and I still do now. Just timeless fun and brilliant break dancing. I am glad with a teenager through those times.
I love this stuff.The 80's the best!
Was so lucky to be a teen in the 1980s fantastic times- music, breakdancing, fashion etc...
I remember when go to battle for me that was the greatest thing of all time I live every second Nostalgia
I remember back in the day, when this song played, all the groups came out to battle and you knew it was on.
This is breakdancing not the weak shit u see today
bryant farrell es la base del break dance
i understand that not only dancing was better back then but instead of whining in the internet ppl should start showing what exactly was better back then in public life ..
You can't take away from this era. It was a beautiful thing, but I've seen some moves done nowadays that's mind blowing
You sound like a toy
Power moves are RIP offs from gymnastics.
Prince Ken Swift had the most pure Bboy routine. Hands down
Best dance scene ever!
Your mom
AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!
This battle will NEVER get old. And I don't care what anyone says, BEAT STREET WON!
just how we used to do it back in the day. Loved this film, we would wag school and watch it endlessly then go and break in the youth clubs and high rise housing blocks as their floors were always clean and slippy. Straight outta Sheffield '84
My all-time favorite b boy battle
