They really did their homework on the motheroad and on Nascar. This film is creative and is so underrated. Every character is based off a real person and the VA hearts were in every moment fully. This movie is awesome. Hits personally too since my dad had a gas station on Route 66 and the interstate caused them to run out of business
It breaks my heart that a film with this level of attention to detail and beauty, and incredible writing could lose to something as generic as Happy Feet at the Oscars. It's a shame how this film has often been treated unkindly by the Pixar fandom, when you can clearly see all the work that they put into making this masterpiece. I'm so thankful that Pixar took the time to get this movie right, because it's shaped my life and affected me in ways words couldn't truly describe. Hopefully this can help more people to realize how great it truly is.
I agree 100%. Even though I’ve never been the automobile fan that the rest of my family has been since the day they were born, this movie has been the first of many pieces of media that helped build who I am today. And the reason why this movie is often swept under the rug? Cars 2. That movie was so poorly produced, it ruptured any interest of its predecessor’s future. I’m happy that there are others out there that understand what makes the original Cars such a special movie.
Yeah Cars should’ve won the Oscar instead of Happy feet because Cars was one of my favorite animated movies of all time when I was 2 years old I used to like Happy feet when I was a kid but it was a little annoying.
Animation ,storyline, feeling. This movie can’t be compared to. This movie stood out so much and introduced so many ppl to car culture. Wish they still made stuff like this. These are the the kinds of movies my kids will watch 1000%
Just did a 12 day Route 66 road trip with my wife and two teenagers. John is so right. We got closer as a family than we could have ever imagined. Adventures and memories for a lifetime. Life is short and time passes quickly. Don’t delay. Just do it!
1:45 “Cars” was released in 2006, yet they showed Joe Ranft. (Who died during a year before that film came out.) I think this shot was filmed before he died from the car crash that killed him.
This film was a part of my childhood, and once upon a time, I could watch it repeatedly and not be bored. I've never driven Route 66, but I _have_ been to the western end in Santa Monica, CA. In about a month, my mother and I are taking a road trip from our home in MA to Iowa, and along the way westward we plan to stop in Chicago for the eastern end of 66. And indeed, one day, I would like to travel the length of Route 66. I would hate to imagine my life had I never discovered this masterpiece of a film.
Just met Angel last week in Seligman during an Arizona road trip and I’m truly grateful I got to talk with him and spend an hour learning about his impact on Route 66, that was the highlight of my trip!
Just drive past the Burma shave signs they'll get the idea. 4 trips back and forth from California to Illinois in the mid 60s to mid 70s in a rambler station wagon with three other siblings. I wouldn't trade the memories for the world.
130,000+ veiws and less than 1000 likes??? WTH??? I love this movie. My oldest son and I had front row seats at the world premier which was held at Lowes Motor Speedway.
Cars (2006) is truly the one and only Disney Pixar's masterpiece film that has been adore by many young and old fans. I really adore this movie so much. And John Lasseter, along with the animators really did a great job with the Route 66 cultural reference in the film. Those who are the fan of Cars and Route 66 will always find this animated film loveable, enjoyable, and entertaining. 🚘🛣6️⃣6️⃣
My favorite part of the Inspiration of Cars (Video 2006) is the 1955 Southern 500, and the 1951 Hudson Hornet Car#6 at the Daytona Beach Road-Race Florida in 1952.
I remember when they went to Harley's shop in Erick Oklahoma when I was a kid, but I was too young to go up and say hi or realize that John Lassiter worked on Toy Story, the first movie I ever saw in theaters lol
This movie came out on the 50th anniversary of the Federal Aid Highway Act (which created the interstate) to the month. No idea if this was intentional
I think if more people watched this video they would gain a better understanding and appreciation for the movie. Seeing as Cars is often sidelined from Pixar fans
@@Mrcharles. your brain is a bust, you re obviously too blind and stupid to see what a masterpiece Cars 2 is. The animation is gorgeous and I love how they expand more on Lightning and Mater's relationship
Watching this, it's honestly pretty sad and frustrating that some people disregarded this movie, something that was deeply personal for John Lasseter to make, as nothing more than a "Doc Hollywood rip-off" despite this section, 5:55-8:21 proving otherwise.
Cars 1 is just a masterpiece that should be remembered forever. And it has aged so well, nearly 2 decades later.

Joe Ranft’s last film he ever worked on. RIP Joe, you may be gone, but you are not forgotten

i agree with you all the way! happy feet is literally a film that makes no sense what so ever
Yeah man...
The movie won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film.
I don’t care about anything negative that has been said about Cars. It is a work of art and the reason why I am a car guy and NASCAR fan today.
