- Well this video was a bit of a spur of the moment. I had this huge pike ned rig laying around in the shed and decided it was time to take it out and try to catch some fish on it. I'd seen some active fish on the river, so decided this would be the best place to try and tempt a few fish from the slack waters. Would It catch?

When trolling we found very large lures had a lower hit rate than plugs in the 15 - 20 cm range.

Hello, first of all, I would like to praise your channel, it is educational and interesting, and secondly, I would like to ask for your advice because I see that you are using Abu Spike baitcaster reel, I have the same model, only it is 5.4:1 transmission and I am think if I can use it on a rod of 50-140gr and should I use up to 120gr of bait? If you can answer me, I would be grateful

I'm in Australia, where there is no equivalnet to the European Pike, so I watch your videos with a tinge of envy.
Have you seen the videos by the pair of Swedish anglers, posting as "Boatside"? They've been on CZcams for about 4 months; they target large pike in Swedish lakes and rivers. They have been trying out some monster lures. Their latest was using a 62cm (25") 2.6lb lure for big pike... Worth a look.
What I've noticed is that toothy fish like pike seem to attack large baits from the side, with a bite in the middle. I suspect this is to disable the large prey. The pike would then release the crippled fish and repostion for a head first swallow. This shows in some of your pike videos and was certainly a problem for the "Boatside" boys that kept missing hookups and then finding big tooth marks in the middle of the gigantic baits. The traditional hooking rig with head and tail hooks with only one treble hanging midlength is possibly not the best rig?
